cryoto-Nazi Dalai Llama, Imperial Japan, Burmese kebab-removers, Thai QT's -- yah it's pretty based
religion is just dumb man. if you want to know why, get a decent education.
At least its not Islam or Judaism
fucking pacifists all of em
Depends on the buddhist and sect.
It's okay. The only religion I hate is Islam and whatever pagan voodoo shit gypsies practice.
Aung San Suu Kyi is pretty based
...
No its a brown asian shitskin religion
Pol is a catholic/orthodox christian board
>Swedes trying to talk shit
>Buddhism’s status as a religion is easily one of the most misunderstood aspects. The answer to the misconception is that it depends on who you ask, and what their definition of religion is. Buddhism doesn’t require a belief in God, or require you to give up your religion, and the original Buddha was not appreciative of the priest’s, many of these things would contradict any argument about it being a religion. However, some people who practice it perform it in a way that is similar to a religion, and they might not appreciate having you tell them that their belief system is just a “philosophy”. The best answer to this question is to ask the individuals who practice how they personally view it.
>Says get educated
There is knowledge in religion, but it's all psychology. Don't call yourself educated if you haven't learned of the various literature that has defined the coming of civilization
>While Buddhists do practice non-violence, this is not quite the idea of pacifism that many of us have in mind. For instance, the Dalai Lama was once asked about the killing of Osama Bin Laden and expressed sympathy with the idea of “taking counter-measures”, if something is “serious”. And the Buddha himself was not a teacher of politics or culture, but a teacher of the individual mind. While Buddhists do as a general rule practice non-violence, not all Buddhists are pacifist. The misconception was been reinforced by movies with old eastern martial arts instructors who always avoided fighting when necessary. But remember in all of those movies, when they needed to fight, they did.
Just because somebody teaches compassion and non--violence, doesn't mean they will stand by and watch a baby be stomped to death because they "can't hurt even an evil individual"
I'm an Atheist. Christians need to take their fairy tales elsewhere.
Am i the only one who saw this as sushi first?
No, I saw sushi too
I don't respect Buddhism because I don't respect the Buddha. Aristocracy is predicated upon the notion that some people should get certain benefits, such as education and military training, and ought to use these benefits to better their fiefdom. Buddha gladly accepted all of the advantages of being a member of the upper class, but when it came time for him to give back (when he became 30) he took off.
But he didn't struggle, as Muhammed or Jesus did. His beliefs were never tested, and I don't know why anyone would think they mattered to him. So he wandered the countryside, mooching off of the poor and telling them to stop wanting things. Weird, how he didn't stay in his keep and tell his father to stop being so avaricious.
Then, we get to the whole nonsense that is karma. This is the apotheosis of the 'just world' fallacy, and this problem is mirrored in certain sects of Protestant Christianity. The world is random, and not everyone gets what they deserve. It is unconscionable to think that the poor deserve to be poor because of some cosmic bullshit.
>he thinks the ashkenazi jews from the kazarian empire represent the middle eastern jews that actually invented the religion
...
KEK
I only hate Islam, indifferent/ok with everything else.
Buddhism:
>all forms of violence are strictly forbidden
>self violence is okay
>we are all special snowflakes! Ask us about our stupid philosophy/religion/whatever we want to say so we get socially accepted!
Most very religious people link martial monks and priests are very educated, academically speaking.
they kill muslims so...yea.fuck yea
wasnt Julius Evola a Buddhist?
came here to post this, wtf man
Useful idiot the faith.
>but when it came time for him to give back (when he became 30) he took off.
The whole reason he left a life of luxury was to try to understand human suffering and end it
>But he didn't struggle, as Muhammed or Jesus did. His beliefs were never tested
That nigga literally almost killed himself studying under a man who had him eat only a grain of rice a day.
Nah they are faggots. Islam is the strongest religion.
See
All forms of violence are strictly forbidden. Self defense is a rarity. The stories of them "attacking" muslims is media driven bullshit. Period.

I thought that was a bunch of sushi rolls when I saw the thumbnail.
Yes as long as the guys keep wearing those sexy revealing garments and having those fit bodies
for a moment there i thought i was looking at a bunch of rows of sushi rolls
anyway, budhhism is the most redpilled philosophy
>buddhism
>religion
>he literally denied being a god
You say only because you don't under how it even came to be. Buddha's teachings were passed on through oral tradition until 500 years after his death, only then did his teachings become literature.
That is why there are different versions
see 969movement.org
At first I thought the picture was sushi.
They look like sushi.
I wouldn't mind being reincarnated, I try not to harm others unless it's necessary and cultivate spiders to take care of flies rather than killing them myself, mostly,
Buddhidsm is is nice religion, I don't fully conform to all their beliefs though reincarnation until you get it right is far better than the black and white burn in hell; eternal life in heaven.
I'd rather be reincarnated a lazy cat than sent to hell for _all eternity_
No it's more agnostic. The Buddha was once told by a disciple that he was leaving because Buddha had not talked about an afterlife. The Buddha told him he would only ask and want to know about an afterlife because he was suffering the life he was currently living, and that gaining peace with the idea that later on you will be in bliss after you die doesn't help your current situation, nor will it make you happier in the now.
>I am just trying to figure out human suffering, guys! It is easy to be king, I am sure someone else can do it.
What a generous view of him.
>blah blah blah grain of rice
Some stories say that. Some stories don't
You obviously haven't heard of Ashin Wirathu, those Buddhists in Burma are fucking those Muslims up
Buddhism is supposed to be a simple philosophy combined with advanced meditation practices in order to master the mind and eliminate personal suffering.
Then Buddha died and everybody fucked up the technique.
Now it's a religion because people would rather pray to Buddha instead of following his teachings.
He didn't deny nor acknowledge the existence of god, just said that the question of god wasn't relevant for reaching nirvana.
Based monk
Do you think oral traditions are special? Do you think that Judaism and Christianity happened any different way?
I don't care about the different versions so much. It is like saying Mozart's Requiem is part of Christianity, when that is patently false. It is a religion. The word religion has become anathema in some circles, so Buddhists pretend to be above it by not using that particular word. You aren't fucking special.
See
Media lies. Buddhists are pacifists by nature and are rekt on a regular basis by Muslims. The countries they're surrounded by have YUUUUUGE Muslims populations and will simply outbreed them given enough time. Malaysia is a great example of this EXACT same situation and the end result of it.
Wayyyy better than mudshits and kikes
meme tier both religion / philosophy - it leaves you free to approach in any way and tells you that you're not wrong either way.
I liked the idea tho of mastering some aspects of your mind, which I believe it's real - because there are many cases of expert monks who died while meditating, or odd phenomena like being able to keep multiple regions of their brain active - or shut some down... even shut down consciousness and be an subconscious automaton..
I see that interesting basically them motherfuckers - just entered a mental state where everything is justified as important and one unified field - and died while in that state... no fear of death, no pain - no anything, just ceased to be while in that state...
That's something which I believe is useful and science should approach the techniques and gives us practical ways to reach that.
Who the fuck is scared of nothingness of death... no one really - it's irrelevant, but the thought of the process of death is fucked up...
>Now it's a religion because people would rather pray to Buddha instead of following his teachings.
That's what happened in India, where it was distorted to the point that it is one more sect of hinduism.
Tibetan & Zen buddhism still keep most of buddha's spirit alive.
Trips speaks the truth
969 Movement is one form of Buddhist Nationalism taking hold in Buddhist countries. A Buddhist Nationalist is similar to their Christian counterpart but aim to build a more Buddhist world through their thoughts, deeds, and activism.
>keep his spirit alive.
Ace did it the best.
There are situations where using violence and even killing are the right actions in buddhism.
That is not correct. Tibetan Buddhism is not Buddhism, it is the Bon religion wrapped up in some Buddhist methods. Zen has literally nothing to do with original Buddhism.
You've got a incredibly westernised simplistic view of Buddhism; The Buddha explicitly gave kings the right to practice capital punishment and gross violence.
Ever hear about the Vipassana movement started by Sayagyi U Ba Khin and S. N. Goenka? Or the Thai Forest Tradition?
Those get it best.
Theravada is a close second. Zen trails behind Theravada. Mahayana is shit tier Buddhism.
you are talking past each other: Malaysia is exactly what the Saudi's and others Islamicists want to do across all of Asia.
Buddha doesn't practice pacifism. He practices the removal of negativity from the mind. That doesn't negate self-defense. It only means you don't attack people simply because you're angry... with the end goal simply reaching a stage where you're no longer influenced by anger and other impurities of the mind.
They don't though. What's the point in mentioning things they don't do? Indonesia, Malaysia etc etc etc. They'll all fall under the rule of Islam. There is no stopping that transformation. Monks will continue to protest and even commit to self immolation before lifting a finger against an enemy in anger.
this user gets it.
According to your criteria, Christianity as practiced today is not what Jesus taught.
I never said they follow 100% what buddha did, they merely kept the spirit of his teachings alive.
I'm a Zen practitioner. love the simplicity. It's all about the practice, not the theory,
No but he admired early Buddhism as a pure Ayran means of self-mastery. He wrote his book on Buddhism as a way of paying off a debt he owed to Buddhism for bringing him back from the brink of suicide when he was 23.
>Tibet
You mean China? The Dalai Lama isn't welcome there. That cucked faggot has to live in India surrounded by people that hate him.
what you fail to realize is that it is not the monks job to fight: it is the monks job to lead, protect, and guide the sangha and for that purpose they must not be warriors.
So monks, trained in martial self defense are supposed to bark orders at common people to run into a fight as cannon fodder? Doesn't sound "compassionate" to me.
>You mean China? The Dalai Lama isn't welcome there. That cucked faggot has to live in India surrounded by people that hate him.
he represents the Tibetan tradition irregardless of where he happens to live.
Buddhism was never a simple philosophy, meditation wasn't and isn't practised by a supermajority of Buddhists, and it was always a Religion.
The Buddha quite literally killed somebody who was planning on sinking a boat killing hundreds of bodhisattva; the amount of bad karma this would have generated would have caused the would-be murder to spend many MANY aeons in Hell.
Not an argument.
Traditional buddhism is actually more european tan christianity, and the most red piled of modern religions.
But 90% of modern buddhists are not traditional ones. They actually know nothing about buddhism, they literally pray to statues lol
Irregardless isn't a word. He's also a cucked faggot living in a foreign land surrounded by people that hate him. Tibet doesn't exist. Hasn't for a very long time.
no you need to read what I wrote very carefully. it is not the job of monks to be fighters or even lead fighting. the monks are the pillars of the community, not it's lawnmower.
>I have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation so I won't reply in a meaningful way.
Noted. I'll filter your posts.
I believe that Tibetan Buddhism is a mixture of Prasangika-Madhyamika Buddhism and the tantric practices that were existent in India before its decline in the 1200's. Many of the Buddhists fleeing the Muslim invasions fled to either Burma or Tibet. I believe that the earlier traditions like the Kadampa(?) and the Kagyu are closer to the esoteric practices of the Bon. Sakya and Gelugpa have a stronger scholarly tradition.
ask me if I care? I don't.
Buddha wasn't a Buddhist though, his followers were. His acts of redemption are hypocritical at best. Why anyone thinks it's a rational ideology is beyond me.
Same with the Vipassana Movement. Teaching Dhamma should always be simple. Everybody suffers. If not everybody can do it, then it's not a real method/solution.
Glad you reap benefits from practicing Zen. Keep it up!
I get it. What type of leader whose sole intentions are to guide and protect people don't fight to protect people? How is burning yourself alive an act of protection?
You obviously do, you mentioned Tibet first.
You're incredibly misinformed. This looks like Wikipedia gibberish to me.
that's probably only partially correct. a combination of Bon and Buddhism is more accurate. I'm not saying it's bad, if you like it go for it, I just prefer Theravada.
>meditation wasn't and isn't practised by a supermajority of Buddhists
This.
Buddhism without meditation is just another life philosophy. It is missing the most important part.
>esoteric practices of the Bon
Wasn't Bon just a simple shamanic religion?
Buddha didn't even believe in heaven or hell. Or deities. However, he didn't condemn other religions or gods.
Hindus even think he is an incarnation of a god, interestingly enough.
If you have to ask then the answer is no.
If you're asking to shitpost then the answer might be yes, but not necessarily.
>Canada
No idea about buddhism itself but Buddhist's in certain countries are extremely based, for example the ones in Burma who literally mass murder muslims.
That is one bad ass robe.
Where 2 cop?
...
Buddhism and Catholicism is /r9k/, the NEET religions

please see the actions and words of Ashwin Wirathu.
the self immolation tactics utilized during the Vietnam war have a logic and symbolism all of it's own and I'm not going to get into it here.
Are the buddhists winning?
talk shit get hit fool
I believe Taoism with buddhist techniques (meditation, breathing etc) is the ultimate enlightenment.
in Myanmar there is a setback. the election of the British agent Aung San Suu Kyi is giving the Muslims an advantage at the moment.
>Any religion
>Redpilled
LOL SUCKAS
Thanks, it really helped me to balance my emotions.
>Buddha wasn't a Buddhist though
You realize Gautama Buddha wasn't the first Buddha right? He's just the latest one.
>Buddha didn't even believe in heaven or hell
He literally described hell in detail and what will happen there in the devaduta sutta.
>who reviled noble ones, held wrong views and undertook actions under the influence of wrong views — with the break-up of the body, after death, have re-appeared in a plane of deprivation, a bad destination, a lower realm, hell.'
>Then the hell-wardens torture [the evil-doer] with what's called a five-fold imprisonment. They drive a red-hot iron stake through one hand, they drive a red-hot iron stake through the other hand, they drive a red-hot iron stake through one foot, they drive a red-hot iron stake through the other foot, they drive a red-hot iron stake through the middle of his chest. There he feels painful, racking, piercing feelings, yet he does not die as long as his evil kamma is not exhausted.
>atheism
>redpilled
