(we should finish off this trade tonight; I am not watching That Speech, I got all I need to know earlier today when someone said "It goes Full Buchanan"; if you don't get that because you're too young, please ask)

(I also have a box of plonk and am gonna hit deadline)

GOOD NEWS
BLUE AND GOLD 2-PACK
FEATURING KOOEY KOOEY KOOEY ACCESORIES

today was a good day for news about sexy guy statues

Bombshells Aquaman is getting a statue, and kotobukiya is starting an ikemen line that starts with Dick

whaaaaaaa

feel free to buy me this

>Bombshells Aquaman is getting a statue
oh shit, links? are there pics yet? my dream for a Bombshell Hal lives on!

also I am so fucking thrilled about that Dick statue and I desperately hope it does well enough that the line spreads beyond the Batfam

>if you don't get that because you're too young, please ask
Asking

I'm scared because one of the SoP Weekend storytimers said they were planning to do Villains for Hire and I dunt know if I can go through that again.

twitter.com/Ricken_art/status/755971620456456192

Also Damian is the only other one drawn in a sexy pose because Ricken is the designer

I hope the statues are popular enough that she and Johns can talk them into LoSH ones next

>That smile on Mikey

>Feel free to buy that for me
Be careful what you wish for, OP. You wouldn't let me get you anything in Avengers Academy, so...

aquaman right here

Jesse Quick Bombshell seems to be getting a statue too
I'm surprised how well they sell if literally whos like Jesse and Bumblebee are getting one
Vixen has a design now so she might get one in the future since she's appearing in a show

At the 1992 RNC, Pat Buchanan, Nixon aide etc., got up and gave a speech that the late lamented Molly Ivins said "sounded better in the original German"

voicesofdemocracy.umd.edu/buchanan-culture-war-speech-speech-text/

I'm not quite sure how it reads if you're coming to it now (I remember it from then), but it was a... D: D: D: moment back then, a profound one. Very confrontational.

Oh god bless her.

Classic Deadshot action figure! I'm so shallow. Read Green Lanterns, that book is great

I thought James B the bachelor president at first to show my mindset. A VP leak tonight would be hilarious

Just lay back and think of molten vaginas.

Unlike Millenium I actually kind of like Invasion because it gave us L.E.G.I.O.N., the metagene is a smooth in-universe explainer even if it is an x-gene ripoff, and this headline is GOAT

Vixen statue, too.

Bless Ricken and her shotacon heart.

Hahahahaha that's amazing

Wally hanging out with Castro is pretty great as well

Confrontation isn't seeming to do much this time around.

Modeling Vixen on Josephine Baker was a great call.

So another pole of speeches you might see people citing is Reagan's 1984 "Morning in America", which is one of the best examples of an optimistic take.

it's the same Pat Buchanan who we encountered in Etrigan Runs For President, debating David Duke, ex-Grand Wizard of the KKK

>I'm scared because one of the SoP Weekend storytimers said they were planning to do Villains for Hire

Well, now I HAVE to do that series.

Cruz is one mean sumbitch, and I voted against his ass as much as I could, but I laughed so hard at how he sandbagged everyone last night.

Mmm, Stoli. It usually comes as 80 proof, 100 is the good shit.

oh god oh god oh god

How about that JLA trailer
youtube.com/watch?v=Pctd-ThJDOo

The Jesse one is cute

You know that's a takeoff on a famous NY Daily News headline, right?

Plsno

Calm Bleez a pretty

Relax OP, I only just got to Luke's 90's solo, I won't get to Villains for Hire for weeks, if not months.

(pre-gentrification NYC is quickly being forgotten, I think)

actually no, spoonfeed me senpai

The Captain has a good take on gentrification.

Someone else suggested MOON NAZIS in the thread last night too, so who knows what the fuck is going to show up this weekend.

(I remember a tiny bit of the Last Stand of Porn at Times Square)

that was an unexpected and delightful usage of The Captain.

Saw a lot of back-patting today over the moral outrage on the BoP issue that actually gave me some real irritation.

oh there we go

You planning on doing any SoPs this weekend?

Just about all the Bombshells statues and designs are cute.
I wonder if they're one of the most popular lines DC has or something cause they're starting to dig deeper into more characters.

got any links? also, feel free to vent, I'm interested in what people are saying and why, although nothing's going to top "this stick shift joke is alienating to foreign readers"

Definately Cool collectable.

no, I've got a shitpile of stuff to do that I've been putting off

>lol, Beetle reads 1980s National Review

They have a definite wide appeal, because chicks dig that stuff as much as dudes do

Maybe that should be OP's contribution.

Oh damn

Are you fucking kidding me?

>those sweat drops

HEY SANTASEID are you still lurking?

What occurred in it that one could be morally outraged about? I mean, I read it, and don't see what the issue could be unless it's some TKJ shit?

>This October, the ghosts of Laura's past come roaring back with the goal of tearing down the life she's built for herself. Writer Tom Taylor and artist Nik Virella kick off a new storyline in "All-New Wolverine" #13 titled "Enemy of the State II." But what is its connection to the original Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. tale, and who, exactly, are the forces the new Wolverine is hunting -- and being hunted by -- in the arc?

>CBR News: What's your sense of the core conflicts of the original tale, and how will this sequel compare?

>Tom Taylor: It's a spiritual successor [to the original]. At the heart of it, the first "Enemy of the State" was about a Wolverine who has lost control, who is being used to commit atrocities by dark forces. This sequel is similar. It begins with Laura being used to commit a terrible crime, which will see the State hunting her. She will be doing all she can to track down who used her, while also evading those who want to bring her in.

>CBR: How long have you been building towards this story? Was the appearance by Laura's arch-nemesis, Kimura, at the end of your initial arc sort of the first hint that this was coming?

>TT: We've been planning this a very long time. I actually pitched something close to this for our first arc before we decided to go in another direction with The Four Sisters. As for Kimura's appearance, yes, she will definitely be back soon. She is a character who has tortured Laura from childhood. She is her Sabretooth. Their confrontation has been a long time coming.
>TT: We hope to tie up a lot of loose ends from Laura's past in this arc. This one is a great jumping on point for new readers, but it's also definitely one for longtime fans of her as X-23 with nods to "Innocence Lost" and "Target-X."

There's always something to be morally outraged about.

Just a lot of "we are the good fans, yes we are" and people acting like there was no character shift in Batgirl of Burnside.

Not him but that's basically what it was, people who thought Stewart retconned it (he didn't imo) so they were mad that it was brought back in their eyes.

I thought they were shards of glass

>a Wolverine who has lost control, who is being used to commit atrocities by dark forces

Oh boy, I trust Tom Taylor to write this with care and nuance.

I thought they were blood.

The new Wolvie book is inexplicably popular to me.

>yet ANOTHER "II" because marvel can't into original names

Fucking hell

These looks based as fuck. That QT Supergirl.

I want him to go full Injustice.

I have no problem with people being honest and tapping out because it's not the book they're looking for. I have a lot of problems with some of the language around "I am betrayed that this all-female team is not treating female friendship as the solidarity I want."

everyone is hot 4 Wondy

Orlando can embrace lots of different voices, I'm actually looking forward to Supergirl a whole lot.

I too am hot 4 wondy

>Surrender and die
I'm pretty sure they made that joke in the previous arc as well

hot 4 Wondy is just basic good taste

and you know she'd be considerate and all

That is a pretty damn fantastic page.

And really in character for Perry White, at that.

NAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

>Diana flanked by the Hawks
Yes, this pleases me.

I'm excited that she's not angsty teenager anymore. Gates take on the character is far superior than 2003 and new 52 version and really close to her Silver Age roots. If you want a Supergirl with attitude, go read Power Girl.

so Deadly Class is being made into TV by the Russos, and Black Magick has been optioned

when is Flintstones #2

>"I am betrayed that this all-female team is not treating female friendship as the solidarity I want."
What does that even mean?

It's the step into moral outrage that really gets me. I'm not entirely convinced the new Batgirl is the more progressive take either.

I only read the last arc but it felt like the new 52 book already transitioned her out of that. She didn't seem much different from Gates-era Kara there.

Is she from a Talok whatever?

10/10 would take out for a malted.

Babs, Dinah, and Helena weren't buddy buddy in the issue that just came out
Helena seems to be back to her 90s/00s self

August 10 for Flintstones. I'm not sure I'd watch Deadly Class on TV, but I like the book. I actually struggle with Remender books. I don't think Black Science is much good beyond the art.

Guess I have bad taste, then :(

I'm suddenly reminded of Gardner Fox's Justice League where if the team broke up into duos, Wonder Woman always teamed up with Martian Manhunter.

>pre-gentrification NYC is quickly being forgotten, I think

I don't know, I'm pretty sure Giuliani's entire post-mayoral career is based on reminding that without enough fear, 9/11 and Old New York with it's scary blacks could come back.

It's this idea that female writers should be primarily showing women as friends who back each other up, as opposed to male writers who tend to focus on this (admittedly wide-spread idea among some people) that women don't like other women because they're mainly in competition with each other.

>On paper, it sounded great. No red flags. Women writers and artist. A return to the trio of friendship we all loved for years under Gail Simone’s pen. A true rebirth of one of the best female-forward concepts DC has ever put together.

.....

>And ultimately, it’s a sad narrative crutch, like pitting these women (god, any women in a book that is meant to be about friendship) against each other to bark and forget everything they’ve been through. It’s the easy way out, and that’s not what this book was ever about.

>If DC and the creative team had wanted to really “Rebirth” what fans missed about the Birds of Prey, they wouldn’t have immediately pitted these women against each other. They wouldn’t have dredged the title in visual darkness and character infighting. And they wouldn’t have refocused attention on sexual assault and madman as a defining moment.

There is no way Oberon should have a chance here. Imskians are broken as hell. Vi shrunk INTO the Emerald Eye.

>TIME FOR INVASION!
How do we keep running back into this awful, awful event?

Going full Battle Royale with Deadly Class pleases me

Because we like 80's DC?

I don't think the natives have angel wings

we keep reading this period of DC because it's not just for kids anymore

I haven't read any of DC; I still need to get to the big-ass second volume of Fear Agent, but I read the first one at such a particular time and mood that I've hesitated.

>JESSEEE
>You got some 'splaining to do.

Isn't the whole thing about team books is that they usually start out with the members at odds with each other so they can learn to work with each other as the story progresses? Also, it's funny how they're completely ignoring the fact that Dixon created the Birds of Prey.

The issue itself was clearly just setting up the standard warring ideologies between superheroes drama for the first arc before they learned to work together but I guess people wanted them to have already been past that?

Oh boy.

I can't wait for Secret Invasion II (The epic capstone to Bendis' GotG, to be set up by Grounded)

...But the established conflict makes sense, and making them bffs right off the bat would be illogical as well as weird?

You know the aliens invade plots don't really do anything for me in cape books.

At least it's not Millennium.

I'm excited for AvX2: Featuring the Inhumans

>Age of Inhumanity

Comicosity Guy loves Simone BOP and hates Dixon on principle for his anti-gay stances, which I kind of get, but since I actually liked Dixon BOP a lot more than Simone on dynamics...

I do see some of the arguments; 1) do we have to do it this way 2) this is only intelligible to older readers, buuut...

you know this and I know this

well, okay, I didn't even read it yet, but I trust you; everything N52 with Babs and Dinah being friends has made NO sense to me whatsoever, I will say. Why is Dinah hanging out with this not-quite-girl-not-really-woman.

Maybe the TV show could get you back into it or something

You joke but it probably is in the works. Was first one a success in terms of sales? Otherwise we might as well jump to AvX: Electric Boogaloo

Avengers v X Men 2: The Inhumans
X man are tired of Inhuman killing them so they try to hurt Inhuman again but Avengers say no and go defend Inhuman honor
X man get ass kicked harder than they did in AvX 1 and fans cry but buy anyway

screencap this

The only slack I'll give them on this is that you can look at a book like Titans where all the characters are already friends and shit and maybe get a little annoyed that BoP isn't immediately like that too, but it's harder to retcon in that kind of history when we know this Helena hasn't been a cape before and isn't friends with them (and you can't use magic or speed force to explain it).

>The only slack I'll give them on this is that you can look at a book like Titans where all the characters are already friends
Isn't one of the Titans shit is where they all get pissy at each other and almost fight over inane things
The 1999 and 2008 Titans books had this in spades, and it was obnoxious.

I don't watch TV in general

Okay, I have a weakness for home renovation shows.

I get it, and I get the complaints, but I am more invested in my annoyance that women get limited emotional range/plots compared to men.

Where's the lady version of "Slapstick's existential angst about not having a dick", goddammit.

pretty sure if I was a Titan I would hate all the other Titans

Hey, isn't that Flash Gun from the Charlton days?

And if it is, how'd Oberon know to use the button instead of the trigger?
