Why was this film disliked?

Why was this film disliked?

Child actors ruin everything.

similar idea, no magic tickets

The kid was annoying

>went up against Jurassic Park
>Arnold literally told them not to
>audiences failed to recognize the satire and just thought it was a generic arnie action vehicle

plebs and retards are to blame

Because the concept is funny but the execution of the entire film is complete fucking garbage? There are a few good gags and that's it. It's not a good movie. You're just a fucking pleb.

>Greatest action star of all time
>Satires the genre

They couldnt handle it

>but the execution of the entire film is complete fucking garbage?

t. never seen the film

Because of plebs, user.

>the execution of the entire film is complete fucking garbage

No it's not you cunt.

I remember it being shit on at least a month to a couple weeks before release.

It reviewed pretty poorly back in the time when film critics were an ever tighter circlejerk and the audience was too pleb for it.
Still the best thing Arnie's done outside of Terminator 1.

>Why was this film disliked?
it doesnt quite work this should be obvious

*and Total Recall

Arnold kino thread?

Kino soundtrack senpai.

Not as kino as The Crow's soundtrack, but it's up there!

I see you britfag

?

Saw this for the first time like 2 years ago and was surprised how well it holds up. Was expecting some B-movie level production with some horrible shortcuts but other than being tacky, it's impeccable.

This film is goat

mix of things. it was arnies first movie after t2, going from t2 to last action hero was ehhh. it was also the first time mctiernan and arnie worked together since predator, and this was just a disappointment compared to it. it was kind of misunderstood at the time, it's really not that bad.

It's hard to explain but some people were sort of burnt out on action movies back then. The entire world was sucking JP's Dino sick and TLAH became the red headed stepchild. What's crazy is the audience flocked back in droves for True Lies.

>people dislike Last action hero

It was hated when it came out

no one was burned out on action movies because T2 was a massive hit at the time.

The kid actor was annoying but the rest is action film satire kino

rogerebert.com/reviews/last-action-hero-1993

and that's why ebert is and always was a hack

>le ironic movie is made
>Sup Forums thinks it's kino
clock, meet work

>Its a newfag posts episode

You misspelled

that's not a satire

>Watching Homeland
>Dar appears on screen
>"Careful, Carrie! He killed Mozart!"

>suddenly Tywin

Not as much as LAH maybe but Huxley's character is enough, constantly referencing 90s action films and wishing her life had more action. Her expectation of Spartan being a "real life action hero" is comically ridiculed throughout the story while the genre is revealed as incomplete.

These.

The movie would have been classic if it was just a straight up action parody, but that stupid magic ticket plot ruined everything.

>In the real world bad guys can win

>mfw It was that far ahead of its time, lad.

Is this the most kino insult?

Ebert's review was excellent and a teaching moment. Neck yourself.

>The boy's name is Danny Madigan (Austin O'Brien), and he has seen all of the Jack Slater movies. He knows that Slater is always played by Schwarzenegger - which is more than Slater knows. One of the pleasures of this movie is the way Slater insists he lives in the real world, and how Danny tries to convince him otherwise by pointing out all the clues proving they're in a movie. All the telephone numbers start with the non-existent prefix "555," for example, and the good guys somehow never get killed, and all the women are dressed like models in a Guess ad. There is even a discussion of the Fallacy of the Talking Killer, often described in this space - that inevitable movie practice in which the bad guys need only pull the trigger, but make the mistake of talking too much, giving the good guys a chance to prevail.

>What's crazy is the audience flocked back in droves for True Lies.
I can imagine why.

IMAGINE

The stupid fucking kid. Seriously fuck that kid, this movie some of Arnie's best moments but at the same time that kid drags the movie down into the dirt.

Last Action Hero has most of the right ingredients for a big-budget action spoof, but its scattershot tone and uneven structure only add up to a confused, chaotic mess.

Way too long. Would have been great if there was one movie where the kid went into the film, and a sequel where Arnie came into the real world.

As one film it just feels like it goes on forever and it gets tiresome as fuck.

>people talking about things that have nothing do with the fact more than half the movie is the retarded kid making stupid fucking reaction faces to everything

The kid was so completely obnoxious and grating to literally everyone alive.
