Young Animal SDCC panel has started. Anyone here interested?

What is Young Animal anyway? Some sort of 'totally rad' Vertigo?

It's a new comic line spearheaded by Gerard Way.

Personally I'm interested in the upcoming Doom Patrol books.

Me want Doom Patrol

Doom Patrol art.

>Are we all inside someone else's gyro?

DC's twitter posted higher quality art.

...

...

>Each of the Young Animal titles are "on the fringe" of the DC Universe, but will likely touch each other. "We'll have almost our own continuity while still being a part of the fringe of the DC Universe."

Yeah, I doubt this'll be crossing over with any non-YA books.

Wonder if the artstyle will fit with the content

essentially.
a call back to the original Vertigo series which were part of the DC Universe, but also not?
stuff like Sandman, Moore's Swamp Thing, and Hellblazer.

at least one (Mother Panic) takes place in the current iteration of Gotham and will stay up to date with other books taking place there, according to Way (which I trust since hes writing it...)

Cave Carson interiors.

...

I don't know if i should trust Way, his music is fucking awful.

But anyway, Gaiman created the best comic ever and yet his prose is Harry Potter-tier.

>Flex
The Hero of the Beach is back.
Fuck yes!

Doom Patrol variant cover by Jaime Hernandez.

>Tom Scioli "ran completely f---ing nuts" on Super Powers, a DC superhero story that will run as back ups in Cave Carson.
>Way said Young Animal is working on a Bane Coloring Book.
>Mother Panic will have a back up story called Gotham Radio written by Jim Krueger.
>Gilbert Hernandez is doing a back up story in Shade the Changing Girl.

>I don't know if i should trust Way, his music is fucking awful.
Read Umbrella Academy if you want to get a taste for his writing. He's a very good writer.

>His music is fucking awful
You talking shit about Hesitant Alien m8
Say that to my face, not online and see what happens

Shade preview

...

hyped as fuck for Young Animal

>Tom Scioli Super Powers
Holy fucking shit

>Xaime variant

Neat

>Beto back-up

I'm in.

First glimpse at Scioli's Super Powers.

please don't sell like absolute shit

Post a time and place, motherfucker.
I'm gonna ruin your face like how WB ruined TKJ

>Way said Young Animal is working on a Bane Coloring Book.
How long before the memes begin?

It's ok I hate Gerard Way too. Young Animal looks good but I'm conflicted.

So, is Young Animal meant to be this year's Solo or Wednesday Comics?

Hopefully it lasts longer.

It's almost an imprint rather than a series.

If it makes you feel any better he said his band happened by accident. His passion has always been wanting to write comics for a living.

Outside of Umbrella Academy, I think the only other thing he's done is that Edge of Spider-Verse issue.

That was alright, even if it was a one-and-done.

I've been hyped for Young Animal more than the Rebirth issues.

he is a student of Morrison

yup, that's Shade alright

You name the time and place, it's not like I have anything better to do baka

He's a wizard as well?

Who wants to take a look at the Young Animal SDCC ashcan comic? Sadly, I can't find a pic of the cover that doesn't have that obnoxious logo in the corner.

This is done in the style of DC's old Who's Who books.

Nah instead I'll send Gerard's old boss/mentor Hart Fisher in my place.

Is Torminox a pre-existing character?

...

I miss Wednesday Comics

...

this is amazing

god damnit, this is looking too good to be true, someone fucking tell something bad from SDCC so I can know this is real.

Not that I remember

well Marvel still exists

who is the artist for this?

Nick Derington. He also did the pic in the OP.

there, that's as bad as it gets. Now I know this is reality.

>ywn hold this in your hands

is that the same Derington from X-statix?

Me too, user. Me too.

He wrote a story about them in X-Men Unlimited, yeah.

I still have every issue.

It was the best. Well 70% of it was.

perhaps

I loved Supergirl story.

Brian Bolland Doom Patrol variant cover

I liked the Metamorpho story.

>Bolland back on Doom Patrol covers
My penis can only get so erect.

He just did a bunch of new covers for the trades they've been releasing.

He's only doing the one variant cover. Derington's the regular cover artist as well.

Also, when had he been on Doom Patrol covers before? I only remember him doing the TPB covers for Morrison's run.

aww yes

>Also, when had he been on Doom Patrol covers before? I only remember him doing the TPB covers for Morrison's run.
He did a couple for Morrison's run, but he said most of them got rejected.

Aw, I'm saddened to hear that.

fucking tell me there is a negative man variant.

Books of Magic nigga

Does the main cover for #2 count?

Nice premises, when does this line of books start?

Doom Patrol in September, Cave Carson and Shade in October, and Mother Panic in November.

I will double or even triple dip on this. Floppies, trades, omnis/deluxes. All of it.

Fucking same. I mean the first issue has a sticker so I'll need two copies anyway.

So we're agreed this is going to be better than Rebirth, right?

Oh yeah, I think so. I'm more hyped for it.

>that homage to Warhol and the Bananas
I'm gonna buy a shit ton of those issues tbqh.

Oh shit yeah, he looks like a Captain Planet villian, but in a great way

>the first three issues of the four inaugural Young Animal titles are returnable
kek

The Rebirth books are returnable too. It's a good will thing between DC and LCSes after Convergence.

Yeah, looks like it. I find Rebirth a bit boring so far.

This seems like it will be right up my alley, can't wait for them to start.

this
so much so
only fun thing in Rebirth has been Green Arrow and New Super-Man

Kek those are my two picks too. Only ones I'm sticking with for the time being.

No offense to those who like Rebirth though, I understand the appeal. It's just that nostalgia pandering and status quo stuff are not for me. Hopefully YA books will sell well too, I'm going to do all I can to support them.

All I want is fun and interesting stories
why is this so hard

Fucking hyped.

I wonder if they're gonna pretend that the Court of Owl doesn't exsist tho

The semi pornographic magazine the publish Berserk in

He did a Killjoys mini too

That my nigga Flex? Yisss

Ah, my moment of glory!

Would they need to? I thought the Owls had Dick as the main actor sort of stationed in Gotham now (though he mostly does international shit for them it seems).

According to Nightwing solicits, Dick and Raptor are going to destroy the CoO.

so i know everyone sounds hype or this, but is it justified?

has doom patrol past morrison's volume actually been any good? I havent read anything more recent than it

>please don't sell like absolute shit
Since it's an imprint, it has lower thresholds and will continue with minimal sales. DC's also doing phenominally well with Rebirth. Since they're not putting out as many products but selling a ton, their production costs are lower and their profit margin is bigger. This allows them to have more funds for niche titles for artistic reasons beyond pure sales - like Young Animal and the new Deadman mini. TLDR: Spend money on DC so we can continue to have nice things.

I think the floppies might sell poorly but the trades will do well based on Way's name. Digital charts could be interesting too.

>not liking his solo album
>never read Umbrella Academy

Fuck my high school swim team for giving me this fetish
