I dunno, having been to places like England France and Germany a few times, the women especially love American shit. The guys usually tend to stray away from it though. I have a Midwest accent, the German and brit sluts LOVED it, I even get asked where I'm from when I goto southern states or cali. I didn't get much social time while in France but would love to go back on my own vacation.

I think it's just because they're mostly homogeneous right now and they have ancestors who stayed put.
Notice how they don't like 2nd gen citizens of Nigerian descent to call themselves British, French, Swiss, German, etc.? They'll approve of those kinds of people keeping ties with their families country of origin, keeping their family's original identity.
But they do not approve of the same for their own diaspora. It might be because they simply can't empathize with the circumstances of European diaspora.
That being said, I sometime also have a hard time understanding other diaspora's connections to Europe. The most recent of my ancestors came here after WWI, the rest have been here awhile, so I'm fully Americanized. If anything I suppose I'm more interested in European history but that's about it for me.
