It's the only spiderman films that had new york city treat him right. A large part of the character is that life sucks for peter, but he's still able to make us laugh. He still endures, perseveres, and ultimately does the right thing, no matter how much he's punished for it.

Much more character. NYC is people and they spent a lot of time adding little cameos and funny/interesting side characters with one or two lines to make it feel like a genuine experience. Fight scenes were tense like early transporter films, relying on pure action and tact over cinematics and music. Also j Jonah was the best casting ever.

It's a simple answer but it's so true. Although he worked from a wonderful script, Raimi is a fantastic director, and Spider-Man 2 is exactly the film he wanted to make.
The early 2000s was a pretty great time to be a film fan when you had indie horror masters Raimi and Peter Jackson handling 200 million movie franchises. I feel like if Spider-Man 3 had turned out well Raimi's films would be a lot more widely remembered. Unfortunately people seemed to think the sillyness of the dance scene is what ruined it (it wasn't), and then started dismissing the other two as silly.

SM3 is now officially the Star Wars prequels of Spider-Man. That movie was garbage, everyone knew it was garbage, yet suddenly all this SM3 apologia has come out of fucking nowhere since Homecoming's release.

Most of the complains about the movie are "not muh X", which might be valid on Sup Forums but certainly not on Sup Forums.
The movie while extremely flawed does a well job closing all the storylines. Specially the Harry-Peter one, which maybe you dont realize it but its the big arc that spans through the trilogy. The trilogy is not about MJ and Peter, but about Harry and Peter.

Nigga Venom was the one that needed cut. Eddie as well and change it so that Peter and Gwen have more of a solid friendship and MJ dies at the end, leaving room for Gwen to catch Peter in grieving to comfort him, leading to a relationship in the next movie with Eddie and Venom being introduced, which would lead to another movie with Carnage, ending with him killing Gwen and ending the Raimi verse for good. Would have been a better end.
