Is Steven a good/interesting protagonist?

Kids don't need fat protagonist who stuff their faces

No. He's become a roadblock in his own series. He started off as a super annoying kid and now he's a wise beyond his years mary sue.

In a sense although he has many powers and a heart of gold, he's flawed in many ways:
-can't properly control powers
-overly kind and generous to the point of getting taken advantage of
-doesn't really respect boundaries
-launches schemes that often fail
-forgetful

>overly kind and generous to the point of getting taken advantage of

When did this happen?

Meh. It really varies from episode to episode.

>good
Depends on the episode.
>interesting
No.

I hate how he looks and how he sounds.
Also, how he behaves.

Yes

>-can't properly control powers
Not a character flaw

>-overly kind and generous to the point of getting taken advantage of
When?

>-doesn't really respect boundaries
Never portrayed as a bad thing the few times it DID happen.

>-launches schemes that often fail
Such as?

>-forgetful
Only happened once and didn't ever matter

He's a chill dude who likes takin' it easy.
I can relate.

>Good
Sure. He drives the plot forward. That's a protagonist's main job.
>Interesting
Meh.

he's pretty shit senpai, would love the show even more without him.

He is a win-win protag. He is out to save everyone, even the "bad guys". They are my favorite type of protag.

Except Kevin

Good as in nice? Sure
Good as in quality? No
Interesting? Hell no

Yes, except Kevin. And Ronaldo's romantic life.

>Interesting magical universe with mana fueled rocked based aliens with an empire spanning millions of years
>show stars some retarded fat kid that eats fries
>next episode is more retarded fat kid looking for pizza
....god dammit.....

Steven is pretty much why you don't make a cliche little brother sidekick into a protagonist. Thst was the entire point of making the show and frankly it's the worst thing about it, nobody wants to watch scrappy doo for 11 minutes, they want to see the gang chase after monsters. Who gives a fuck about steven, his pathos could be condensed and given the elimelight it deserves without him being the protagonist and hogging the screen time from other more interesting characters.

They should've just called it crystal gems and had the do globetrotting adventures as a focus.

Did you only watch 2 episodes? He's not just a fat kid.

he gets better

>now he's a wise beyond his years mary sue.
>OP picture is from an episode where he caused the entire conflict and failed to solve it throughout until the very end
>The episode immediately before it was centered around Steven having unhealthy feelings and how the conflict of the episode is really his fault for indulging in those feelings
>The episode immediately before THAT was nearly entirely about Steven thinking he's doing the right thing only to have it blow up in his face

Why do you go in threads about shows you don't watch?

Being a child means he's not an interesting character in his own right, but it gives him the combination of "wants to solve everyone's problems" + "is unable to do so easily" that makes him an effective protagonist.

I could not reasonably see any development happening in an SU without Steven.
