Well there's this movie. I thought it was pretty good but not really lovecraftian.
Cthulhu isn't actually a monster. That's the problem. Instead, his "arrival" should be more subtle. Like the world starts becoming fucked up gradually and everybody knows in their hearts that it's because "something" is approaching and as it gets "closer", things get more and more fucked up until it's literally just chaos. And not some pansy street rioting type chaos. Real chaos.
