I don't mean to get high brow about this, but the way it's conveyed to me is intentionally less city people going to a zoo and seeing animals for the first time and more two natives, a father and son happening by a watering hole on their path possibly, observing and acknowledging they share a life with all other things in nature.
The rest of the song plays up the magnificence of the grand scale, but it likely intentionally starts off humble.
It's one of my phone ringtones. Waking up to this from a nap is pretty nice.
