Trainspotting 2

is it any good?

i'm not expecting it to reach the heights that the first one did but i`ve heard mixed reviews about it.

it's better than the first one

in which way?

can you elaborate?

bit formulaic and lost most of its edge from the first one but still worth a watch if you want closure.

Lol who would actually think this.

It was totally and utterly unnecessary with no teeth to it. Neutered and boring. Only a couple really funny and noteworthy scenes. The Balkan chick was nice to look at but I didn't really get into her character. Diane's scene was great and she is still beautiful. Turning it into a slasher flick in the last fifteen minutes was abysmal and textbook Boyle. The "choose life" rehash was cringeworthy pandering nonsense. I didn't understand Sickboy's motivation for anything he did. Renton was kind of generic in the first movie but it's incredibly noticeable how devoid he is of a personality in this. The less said about Spud actually writing Trainspotting the better. Soundtrack was unmemorable. 1698 scene went on way too long.

i think i'll rewatch the first one, listen to the soundtrack and forget the second ever arrived

Its as good as it can be, considering that its a sequel about heroin junkies in Scotland in the early 90s.

Its very nostalgic, which I enjoyed alot and could relate to very much.

Do yourself a favor and watch it. There is one scene that makes the whole thing worth it.

>The "choose life" rehash was cringeworthy pandering nonsense.

Except that if you were older than 25 and remembered the days before "hella upvotes", you would find that the "choose life" scene (nice spoilers for him faggot), was incredibly accurate.

Did you even watch Trainspotting in the 90s, or did you stream it 3 years ago, because some asshole on rottenfaggots recommended it?

You are one dumb motherfucker if you think accuracy of his speech, however nebulous that praise may be, is an automatic passing score for how terrible the execution of the scene is. Like, when the Balkan chick just asks out of the blue for no reason at all "What is Choose Life" and then the music stops and Ewan goes, as if winking at the audience "What did you say" and then the music stops again.

Utterly embarrassing.

You completely didn't understand the film at all

For what is it it's actually pretty good.

choose life was the liberal directors wank speech. "yeah misogyny, yeah evil revenge porn"

tick the boxes of shit men dont give a toss about but feminists jerk off too.

Third act with the bulgarian whore was the worst part of the film

7/10 for nostalgia. Last shot of the film was kino as fuck

>is it any good?

Yes, it's very good. It acts more like a post-script to the original. If you're in the same age bracket as the characters and saw the original one when it first came out then this will particularly hit home.

>You are one dumb motherfucker

Stopped reading there. Why dont you choose a better website and get your ass back to pleddit.

>YOU MUST BE AS LD AND PATHETIC AS I AM TO APPRECIATE A HORRIFIC MAX CADY IMPERSONATION
Fuck off faggot.

nice reddit image reddi.

It's the best a sequel made 20 years after could possibly be. I personally really liked it, I found it to be a really nice epilogue to the characters' stories.

Was being autistic part of your plan? Your sentence/argument/insult/spergout consists of 4 words, of which 2 are literally "plebbit".

Pure bait

This pretty much sums it up

Wrong on both counts kiddo.

You sound like a really fun person to be around.

More fun than this piece of trash movie that's for certain.

Just admit you are insulted/threatened by a differing opinion of your favorite movie this year (how fucking pathetic is that)

It is decent but not spectacular. If you are a fan of the first then give it a go I don't think you will regret it. I thought how the characters were portrayed was very realistic though them being a bit more ragged or the actual time skip not being so long would have been better. Someone mentioned the 'choose life' scene and I can sort of agree with what they are saying. It came out of left field and could have been handled better but it didn't ruin the movie.

It wasn't a movie that needed to be made and I don't think it improves on the first any but if you would like to see how they turn out then give it a watch.

I liked it a lot, but it's not as 'singular' as the first movie. The plot of the first movie was near perfect, a day (or month) in the life of a heroin junkie with a circular ending; the story almost exists in a state of timelessness, implying it could go on like it does forever, much like the cycle of drug abuse. And that's the key that held the movie together, was that it was about heroin and the junkie lifestyle more than it was about any of the characters themselves.

T2 shifts the focus away from the junkie lifestyle and just tries to continue the actual stories of the characters from the first film, and I'm not sure it really works because to be honest, their stories aren't really that compelling. Renton has the closest thing to an arc in the first film and all we really get out of it is that he's older and cleaned up now, which anyone could have guessed from the first movie. Spud, Sickboy, and Bigby are essentially the same characters doing the same sort of shit they've always done, and yeah I guess that was the point and yeah there were some interesting developments here and there (Bigby turning into a pill popper, Spud becoming a bit of a storyteller, Diane being a realtor or insurance agent or whatever she was and surprising Renton), but ultimately I never really cared *that* much about the individual characters so much as the lifestyle they exhibited.

Don't get me wrong though, it's easily one of the best movies of the year, but in the shadow of the first movie, which defied filmmaking and storytelling conventions, it just feels weird to get a sequel that feels so much like a classic "movie" movie.

>Diane being a realtor or insurance agent or whatever she was
she was a lawyer you retard that was a fucking plot point.

Autism really is not a nice condition.

>she was a lawyer you retard that was a fucking plot point

Not really though, like the plot would have been more or less the same without Diane being in the movie at all. The whole point of the plot was to get Bigby to chase down Renton and end the movie in a final showdown, everything else was character fluff. Diane's presence was some good character fluff but it was fluff nonetheless.

You should get it checked out I think it's starting to cripple you.

this is a pretty good summary. the movie was definitely still good, it just kinda picks up the stories where it left off and just tells some more story. I really doubt people would have cared for more toilet crawling though.

also the choose life thing went on for too long and i cringed pretty hard
