I'd bet my bottom dollar you all have strong opinions on this guy. So redpill me. Savior of the American people or Judeo-Bolshevik? America's closest thing to a dictator or liberator of Louisiana?

I'm gonna bump this shit atleast once incase a non-summerfag didn't get to see it and realize they're missing an interesting thread. Theres 4 fucking threads on the front page talking about fastfood and we can't talk about one of America's most polarizing political figures ever?

Far more populist than given credit for - and that's why he was eliminated.

Much the same way FDR needed to eliminate Sinclair, but Long was a more viable candidate - so the termination had to be more extreme.

The 1930's were a time when Wall St. Capitalism was conducting outright war against the American people - otherwise the people would have come after them for bankrupting the nation - and Wall St. and FDR won.

The jews hated him and sent a jewish assassin to kill him because his popularity was threatening their top goy, Roosevelt.

I feel that, but his tax plan was kindof fucking insane wasn't it? Not to mention the ruthlessness he dominated Louisiana state politics with (even if it was ultimately beneficial). Is there anything to indicate he was really into it for America and not for himself?

>Theres 4 fucking threads on the front page talking about fastfood

I love threads like these but this is a poor time of year for productive discussion. Friendly bump.

Carl Weiss was a piece of shit. Huey Long would have been the proper man to lead us into war. A true man of the people and someone who could have easily turned around much of the ills that faced the country in the 30s.

And a fucking dentist shoots him.

Thanks man stay based. When I first came to Sup Forums their were bakasso threads like once every two weeks. I feel like I never see fun quasi-historical discussions anymore (thought I do get it is election season).

I couldn't even imagine how he would of led us into WW2. DESU I wouldn't of even been surprised if he sided with germans. How do you think he would've appraoched WW2 if he took office in 1937?

That's the hard part to know. Getting a straight story about someone as much in the spotlight as FDR is damned difficult. Getting the truth about a guy from swamp country who the oligarchy wanted destroyed seems next to impossible.

I'd say the best answer is that the assassination itself. If the money masters didn't fear him - which they wouldn't if he were simply selfish - then they would have co-opted him, not killed him.

he wouldn't have simply let Pearl Harbor happen. FDR clearly knew shit was up and let it happen

Do you think he could've beat FDR in the nominating process though? It's not like the nominating process was the same as it has been since the Mcgovern-Fraser Commission. AFAIK he was despised by virtually everybody besides the people of Louisiana and a handful of politicians -he- got elected. Couple that with the assassination having a far more believable cause than other high profile ones (Oswald, Sirhan, HINCKLEY?????). He could've easily been stopped at the convention. Just playing devils advocate btw I have a feeling (((FDR))) wanted certain threats neutralized.

Literally who.

>american education

Enjoying your first election, pal? Sure glad you like Trump and want to make america great again. But why don't you head back to the other website with a donald trump shitposting page until your ready to discuss politics with adults? Just don't want you to feel left out of the fun kiddo.

So he would've let Japan wreak havoc across the pacific?

He would have had nukes too. Perhaps he would have concentrated our efforts on Japan and let the Russians take care of the Germans

who knows. I just think FDR had a few decisions that were reprehensible and I imagine old Huey could have handled it better

Nominations were totally different then, they were more like a heavyweight prize fight - round after round of negotiating.

But that suggests Huey might have had a decent shot. Yes, the East Coast money was behind FDR, but Huey didn't run Louisiana without knowing how to do a little horse trading himself.

A Sinclair-Long ticket would have changed the course of world history.

You keep mentioning Sinclair. Upton Sinclair or who? I can't imagine he was seriously in the running for President. And that is a real interesting interpretation of how he would fair in a convention, you're probably right.
Or would he have backed the America First lobby to stay out of the war unless directly attacked? That would've had interesting implications, especially in the pacific. Either way, even if I disagree personally with a lot of his economic proposals, he was the most serious presidential contender about taking care of veterans in recent history.

I'd guess he would have stayed out of the whole sordid mess.

FDR had such deep ties to Europe (and he and Churchill worked together to mastermind the Lusitania false flag that dragged US into WWI). And the bankers wanting to crush Hitler for not using their fiat money (the same reason the US would later destroy Iraq, and then Libya) wasn't something Long would have seen a fit reason for spilling American boys' blood.

FDR and Churchill had to work for years to goad the Japanese into attacking the US, so the US could enter the war in Europe. Long would have had none of it.

Again, more reasons why the New York-London bankers wanted Huey Long dead.

Well Long was pretty critical of the Federal Reserve so I don't find that surprising. But would you consider the possibility Long would align with Bolsheviks because they had obviously similar goals (even if Long denied being a Socialist). COMINTERN's Popular Front order in 1936 would've catipulted a DNC nominated Long to the presidency and a 3rd-party Long run into probably throwing the race to the house. Even if he had qualms with the USSR i'd say its distinctly likely he'd get behind the Popular Front which would've coincided perfectly with his election. And certainly, if Long was a comintern backed president, we would jumped into the war at the start of Barbarossa.

Yes, Upton Sinclair. California's Huey Long.

Bringing the West and South together along with the suffering poor of the East would have been unstoppable. Thus why Sinclair had to be betrayed and Long killed.

Long knew enough about "populist" movements to also know when to distrust them. Again I'll say he would have sided with the people over the bankers and kept America out of the war - and that's always a good prescription for waking up dead.
