Just report and move on, people.

>As much as we like to think we have come some so far as a society –see Hilary Clinton’s Presidential nomination this past week– when you take a look at some of the comic industry’s stories, it highlights something alarming that remains within it: rape culture.

>Today, rape is still being used as a trope to advance a storyline or give a (male) hero motivation to seek justice or vengeance. There are very really repercussions from this terrible, mental as much physical. Some writers have tastefully explored this dynamic. It’s not truly their fault, as patriarchy makes the largely male dominated field blind to the true horrors of this vile act. With that depressing intro, I present to you the Rape Culture Moments in Comic Books

>Just Missing The Cut

>• Barbara Gordon Shot and Sexually Assaulted, The Killing Joke: There have many discussions as to what the Joker did to Barbara as she lies there naked and paralyzed, with many believing some form of an assault did occur.
>• Mr. Hyde rapes the Invisible Man, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Karmic penance for this character who was known to rape the women in the monastery believing it was the Holy Spirit.
>• Rogue is sexually assaulted by the Genosha guards, Uncanny X-Men #235-238: As a young child, even I felt disgusted to read about one of the strongest X-Men being violated so callously.

>#8: Shado Rapes a Feverish Green Arrow

>Why It Made the List: In an encounter with “Shado”, Oliver Queen is so thoroughly beat down that he’s left hallucinating. Shado takes the opportunity to nurse him back to health, only to trick him into thinking she was the Black Canary. With good ol’ Ollie thinking he’s with bae, a hot love making session commenced. Arrow would discover this violation of his body years later when Shado showed up with his son Robert and then had the audacity to forbid him from being involved in the boy’s life. Harsh.

How can you tastefully depict sexual assault? Wouldn't it be better to not hide how horrible it is?

>#7: Mockingbird Raped By Phantom Rider

>Why It Made the List: Steve Englehart’s “Lost in Space-Time” West Coast Avengers storyline was problematic for a number of issues. First, it had Ant Man attempting suicide, then the team went back in time where they ran into The Phantom Rider who became infatuated with Mockingbird. As chivalrous gentlemen tend to do he kidnapped, drugged, and raped her before brainwashing her to fall in love with him. Being a badass lady Avenger that she is, she tracked this douche down, gave him a beatdown and eventually let him fall off a cliff rather than save him like a true hero. I was okay with that. Not every act can be forgivable. Her husband, Hawkeye, didn’t see it my way and instead in an unbelievable act of patriarchy offered a divorce. Way to be there for her Clint.

>#6: Nightwing Raped by Tarantula

>Why It Made the List: Again, another male victim. Batman’s first ward Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing, was out championing his own city of Blüdhaven when he fell in with Tarantula. During a fight with Blockbuster, he allowed her to kill the villain before collapsing on a roof in exhaustion. On the rooftop, Tarantula — seizing the moment — forced herself on Nightwing, who was unable to fight her off in in his weakened condition.

Why do people care so much about fictional characters getting raped?

>#5: Anissa Rapes Invincible

>Why It Made the List: Unlike some of our other male rapes on this list, this might be the most brutal and emotional one. For nearly 110 issues, we had seen Mark Grayson grow into lovable superhero. Anissa, unlike any of the sexual predators on this list, demonstrated a physicality and determination that was scary. She looked at Mark as a joke to produce the offspring she desired. She toyed with him and when she was ready, she took what she wanted in a twisted sense of honor. It took a while for Mark to get over this and Robert Kirkman wrote this well.

>#4: The Rape of Ms. Marvel

>Why It Made the List: In Avengers #200, Ms. Marvel awoke one morning to find herself pregnant. The baby came to term within a few days and grew quickly to adulthood as, all the while, it built a machine to cause time-related incidents across the city. After The Avengers destroy the machine we learn that Marcus is the son of Immortus, who kidnapped and used Ms. Marvel to escape Limbo as her child. The repercussion of this manipulation and violation would be explored in Avenger Annual #10, where we learned Carol was upset with her team members for not recognizing what was going on and letting her go off with him. Deep!

SJWS really need to stop trying to hijack DC
Its not working stick to marvel

They identify with the victims?

>#3: Sue Dibny Raped By Dr. Light

>Why It Made the List: When people speak of violence against women being used to motivate a male protagonist, they can look to this story as exhibit A. It’s an excellent story that reveals dark secrets within the pristine Justice League. However, the treatment of Sue Dibny is atrocious. She is murdered to spark the entire six-issue story and then it is revealed that Dr. Light raped her at the Justice League Watchtower. Not satisfied with just simply sending him to jail, the League and Zatanna neuter his mind as punishment for his actions, so the rapist gets to have all memories of his action erased. Wow!

I literally stopped at Hilary. This is clearly a joke. Move on.

>#2: Silk Spectre Almost Raped by the Comedian and Hooded Justice Chastises Her For It

>Why It Made the List: Never mind the Comedian commenting on Silk Spectre’s outfit, as if that justified his behavior. Nevermind that Comedian tried to rape her; he’s a sociopathic lunatic, that’s what they do. The most deplorable moment of this entire scene is the savior Hooded Justice’s comment of “for God’s Sake, cover yourself.” Wow!

>and Robert Kirkman wrote this well.
No?

>#1. The Governor’s Torture and Rape of Michonne

>Why It Made the List: Over three issues, we were subjected to Michonne, a black woman, first fetishized and then dehumanized as a sexual object for a violent sadist. Kirkman wrote terrifying scenes of Michonne being beaten and raped in the most gruesome manner. We see the aftermath of these brutal assaults; however, what puts this at the top of the worst rape culture moments is the panel above where we see how Michonne’s rape affects a man. We are made empathize with Glenn as he listens, not experiences, but listens to the Governor have his way with his friend. It brings him to tears. He shaken to his core at what he heard and can only imagine (should he dare) what she’s suffering but the sympathy is placed on the man who is safe within his cell.

Ha! Oh user...

These are written so glibly, I feel like the author just used 'rape culture' as an excuse to do '8 times people were raped in comics.'

THAT'S A LIE
THAT'S A LIE
THAT'S A LIE
................I
.............LIE

So DC's first gay marriage wasn't on there?

On the other hand at least they mention the male characters getting raped instead of making it full female.

The only one it really fits for would be their silk spectre watchmen example

A lie,you say, matey?

>Almost

He became a daddy didn't he?

What's "rape culture"? I don't think these examples were meant to glorify rape or anything, they're clearly presented as being bad.

Rape culture is totes legit guys

I went to RapeCon 2015 last year and even got an autograph from serial rapist Memhed Burabaas, the Sri Lankan fisherman who's raped over 400 French Women on cruise boats throughout the Mediterranean

This.

Was a bit unexpected.

>RAPE CULTURE

What did they mean by this?

Rape culture wouldnt be so fetishised in America if half the women would pull the sticks out of their asses.

Where's Kyle Rayner raped by Bueno excellente? Because he's a male?

If rape culture is so powerful, why are there so little good "imitated rape" porn videos?

Nigger culture where some gay ass rapper twerks and dance-rapes a woman as celebrated in a music video or something.

You just don't like the ones with darkies in them if you haven't been watching the good ones.

That's cultural enrichment, you racist swine!
Me and my wife's son are so offended by your post right now.

Hooded Justice is a Hitler supporter, liberals don't see Hitler as the devil? Hell, his costume is inspired by the KKK. In the other hand, HJ is gay so that might make him uncomfortable from a liberal perspective

Why do you keep doing this?is there not enough anger in your life?

The Comedian fucked Silk Spectre consentually years later. Yeah, Silk Spectre is a fucked up person.

>WW's face

Rape in comics is retarded, but the number 1 worst ever is Talia raping Batman.

He didn't chastise her whatsoever. He was telling her to man up because she's a superhero, and then immediately beat the piss out of the Comedian.

Did this ever get retconned? I know she pops up with how this happened when Jessica Jones was in labor

HJ is a fucked up individual, he isn't precisely a moral example. Also, men on those times tend to blame the rape victim as well as the rapist. Silk Spectre dress like a hooker after all

Reported. Quit making these bait threads and trying to make everything an issue. It's fiction, if the writer wants to make a story where rape is involved they have every right.

How can the people that write these articles fail to grasp the difference between the view of the writer and the view of the character that is expressing a certain view. Yes inserts can exist, but if you think they are obligatory, then christ your just autistic.

I'm kind of suprised this list 3 female-on-male rapes (and one male-on-male rape in the honorable mentions). Is it because the rape in women isn't nearly as common as the critics would like you think there was? Hell, there's a bunch of other rapes of male characters that weren't covered just off the top of my head.

Nash on Jack Knight
Talia on Batman
Beuno on Kyle Rayner

>People who claim that "rape culture" is sympathetic to rapists
Ask any man if he'd rather be accused of rape or murder.

Why are people reporting this thread there is actually discussion going on

....they don't honestly think HOODED JUSTICE reflects Alan Moore's views, do they?

Why do you idiots keep falling for the same stupid trick?

How to make ad bux and build a patreon base at the same time:
1) Write a willfully obtuse article designed to piss of fanboys and appeal to "social media movements" that don't know the actual context
2) Post on Sup Forums/reddit/etc.
3) while the pageviews roll in and the angry comments start to mount, pick the most vitriolic and rebroadcast them to start a "controversy" over your article and bring attention to you as the author
4) repeat steps 1-3 until making obscene amounts of money off Pateron for doing nothing

...

Accused of murder, all it takes is a fair trial. Accused of rape and there's no getting out, even if you're innocent. I hate guilty until proven innocent. False rape claims should be 2x the punishment of an actual rapist if the person is proven 100% innocent, such as the cab driver who recorded the women lying.

Of course not. Alan Moore had no morals back then. I don't know what sort of epiphany he had to realize his works were a mistake, though. Did he have a vision of Jesus? Or maybe a vision of Superman?

Moore regrets his darker comics because he thought by pushing what can be done with comics he could inspire originality in the stories and whatnot. When everyone decided to tell dark gritty comic stories like him he became the cynical asshole.

No there isn't you faggot. It's shitty bait trying to make it an issue so the SJW cucks can blow it up and find a way to complain to more major companies.
