If they were such an intelligent, highly developed species, why didn't they ever venture outside the desert...

If they were such an intelligent, highly developed species, why didn't they ever venture outside the desert? Why didn't they create maps and explore the planet? Why didn't they ever read any human books and learn from our vast knowledge, catapulting themselves tens of thousands of years scientifically?

Scientific repression, did you even watch the film?

Because it took humans millions of years to do this and intelligent apes are a few hundred years old

So why not read our old books?

It's not like they're building off of nothing, they even had a fully developed language.

I see what you're up to OP. Funny

>it took humans millions of years to do this
Humans have only been around a few thousand years

It only took us 6000 you fucking idiot

Because of humans having a history of oppressing apes obviously.

pls end yourself.

>If they were such an intelligent, highly developed species, why didn't they ever venture outside the desert?
Forbidden Zone.

>Why didn't they create maps
They did. Did you forget the maps Cornelius drew of the Forbidden Zone and its surrounding areas?

>and explore the planet?
Who says they didn't?

>Why didn't they ever read any human books and learn from our vast knowledge, catapulting themselves tens of thousands of years scientifically?
What human books?

Because theyre an allegory for nigs

Nearly 1 million actually. Don't get your science from the 1950s.

Because that would've been far more expensive to film

It's implied the earth was destroyed by nuclear war.

>It's implied the earth was destroyed by nuclear war.
Actually, you find out that that's exactly what happened when you watch the sequels.

You know, if humans went extinct, all the nuclear power plants in the world would have a meltdown. Most of the world would be like Chernobyl.

Won't most be setup with some dead man switch

>What human books?
Everything humans would have written up to the year 2600.

>read human books
You fucking realize. Dude, are you retarded. Did you miss the point of the film, or what he said.
They REPRESSED science. That includes human history. That's shown in the movie, literally.
Sorry for being abrasive, but come the fuck on.

>Why didn't they ever read any human books and learn from our vast knowledge, catapulting themselves tens of thousands of years scientifically?

A big theme in the movie is the higher ups in Ape society keeping knowledge from the other apes of humans being intelligent.

The instant ape learn that humans are smart their whole society falls apart, and the guys in charge would be kicked out.

Ok, but back to my original point: Why? Doesn't seem very intelligent or logical. If they evolved FROM humans (which, while not technically what happened, for all intents and purposes they did) they should start off as civilized as humans, if not moreso.

In a way, it's actually kind of pathetic that they don't know humans ruled the world before they did. It's like they have no interest in preserving their history.

>it's actually kind of pathetic that they don't know humans ruled the world before they did. It's like they have no interest in preserving their history.

Have you even watched the movies? Or are you just looking for some answers to your homework?

The apes in charge did know that humans ruled the world before. They knew all about it, and read about human technology, and it scared the shit out of them because they brought nuclear armageddon upon themselves. Apes didnt want the same thing to happen to them, so they kept all knowlegde of it from the rest of Ape Society.

>humans evil savages who destroyed the world
>let's learn from them

>What is the dark age

Pick up a book ffs

>Dark ages
Maybe it is you who should pick up a book

OP, I hope you actually read this thread, because it answered all of your questions.

In fact, I hope you watched the movie, because it actually ALSO ANSWERS ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS, which makes this thread kind of silly in the first place.

He was being sarcastic. The Ape elders actively destroyed older evidence of civilization. When Cornelius discovers the talking doll, Zaius outright says "In a few moments, Doctor, there won't BE a doll."
