If you don't mind the spoilers lesbian phase, yes, she sleeps with another slayer who was in love with her, and the pregnancy is just a trick, she wasn't pregnant in the end, it was Andrew who did something to swap her identity with the buffybot for a while

It's objectively pretty shitty, yes, except maybe for the After the Fall Angel series which is kinda like the Angel season that we never did and never will get. So if you intend to give it a go, don't expect kino or reasonable stuff, just get ready to not care about the crazy. I enjoyed it personally, but only because of personal nostalgia reasons

It's funny that a character who was obviously designed as a flimsy pretext to get Acker out of her naughty librarian outfit and gimmick, which was getting stale, and put her into a tight leather costume to put a new angle on her sex appeal, ended up being one of the best written characters on any Joss Whedon show.
Well, she is the undisputed queen of the buffyverse after all... And I don't think I'll ever stop being mad at the people who cancelled the show just a few chapters after seeing her.

Zompires were something about a story arc where the "seed of magic" was destroyed, no magic in the world, no demons could pass to inhabit newly turned vampires, so, zompires happened.
they killed it when they did because the budget got bloated as fuck, and when it was severely cut, joss had the gall to demand they either renew him for season 6, less than half way through 5, or cancel it, and they said "fuck off"

That and she was played very well by Amy Acker. Any other actress could have made all of her dialogue sound really cheesy really easily, but Amy nailed it.

it all goes into one shitty chronologically released shitfest that can be broken up into eras
era 1. mostly noncanon fuck-it-verse, where they were just selling shit while the show was going, to make money. the only things canon really are just things not dealing with buffy directly
era 2, the canon universe, where everyone gets their own storys. its filled with minis arcs dealing with specific characters, or groups, and for the most part is... good. IMO, much of spikes minis are good, angel after the fall is pretty decent, and angel & faith isnt that bad, but im a massive sperg for faith. era basically ends after the "end" of after the fall, when angel becomes buffys pet again
era 3, the "fuck it we dont make enough money from this shit"-verse. everything is still canon, but their give full comics or series of minis severely died down. at this point, angel was regulated to a background character again, and was written to literally fuck a universe into existence. only really ongoing titles at this point are angel&faith, and the "everyone suck buffys dick hour, starring buffy and the rest of them"
every era has some good stories, but honestly, the better a title is, is generally inversely related to how much it actually fits into their "season" method. other than season 6+ of angel, the only good things are minis or one shots

Firefly is the best series that never was. Dollhouse would have been great if not for being centered on Eliza Dushku as Whedon's Mary-Sue. I loved Alan Tudyk's performance in it. nd the twist of who the ultimate villain was I liked in concept, but hated in implementation (like almost everything on the stupid show).
Illyria is not only best waifu, but also best Adriatic province of the Roman Empire.
Fact: Dollhouse would have been vastly improved if pic related played Echo, not Dushku. I like Dushku well enough but she just didn't have the range to play a bunch of different roles like that
I remember watching Buffy as a kid, I loved it. I tried a rewatch this year and I just couldn't swallow all the 90's teenage stuff. It aged like piss.
I think Angel had a more "mature" feel to it, Buffy seemed intended to a more teenage audience, at least until the later seasons.

This is true but can be said of almost every stronk womyn Whedon has ever had cast for such a role. Dushku is the only one that's had any muscle at all, from Gellar to Johanssen.
She's also a dancer and had to train martial arts for a few of her roles

its a few facts conflated to make joss sound terrible, but its true
the show was using a shitton of money, AND it was the current highest rated show on the network
in an effort to rein in the budget, they regulated MUCH of season 5 to the office, rather than a series of several large sets and reoccurring areas, it became literally one large set, actually smaller than the entry way of the hotel. its why so much of season 5 takes place in office, just to save money
and the reason joss got the show canceled was, that every season of the show, the network waited till the very last minute to renew the show, each season. in season 5, like i mentioned, it was the highest rated show, and they kept those ratings while successfully lowering their budget. joss thought he could use his clout, and the shows success to "get the show renewed early, so the cast and crew wouldnt have to worry about their jobs disappearing, like they worried each other year"
it backfired, when he backed the network into a corner they said "we literally cannot renew you this early, you're canceled"
he gave the network an ultimatum, and they went against him. i think they know the series wasnt picked up something really early like episode 10 of the season, so he tried to renew them less than half way into it, and the entire cast and crew knew they were going to be let go by the 12th episode
But that in itself was an act of compassion beyond all human imagining. She doesn't need you to teach her compassion.

the closest thing you could say in their defense was that, it was very early in the season, it wasnt proven that their money saving was working (the show still cost alot, even if it was far less than season 4) and the head of the wb at that time was a literal retard. as far as i know, both critics and viewers loved what they had so far (possibly because it couldnt be worse than season 4)
joss was an executive producer for the show, not a head writer. that being said, the head writers were all people that worked for him at mutant enemy. i personally think that the reason angel is so good is because he took a backseat, and just became an ideas guy. he did little actual writing, he just approved storylines and episodes. david greenwalt and... the lady i cant remember her name both did far more actual work on the show than joss

Angel comics this year also seem more focused on Illyria/Fred. First part was a time travel thing where Illyria returned to her own prehistoric past, they show how she ruled, her minions and stuff about "feared as well as loved"
After that, another time period that I have no idea where it is going, but it still has them both and Angel in it...
