"This goes all the way through...to the other side. So I figure...there's a bloke somewhere around...New Zealand...standing on a bridge like this one...looking down back at us. All the way down. There's a hole in the world. Feels like we ought to have known."
Why is this giving me such feels? I don't even get it. God damn you James Masters, you could make a shopping list sound profound.
Also I knew either Fred or Wesley were dead the second they got together.
>Also I knew either Fred or Wesley were dead the second they got together.
Its almost like you watched Buffy or angel there negrodamus.
Daniel Baker
Angel was superior show.
Robert Foster
>I'm going to slay the dragon Ewry thyme
Robert Long
must be why they killed it when they did.
Jordan Evans
Because that whole episode is one of the saddest episodes in the history of television
>please wesley, why can't I stay?
;_;
Oliver Hall
This. And probably top 5 television finales ever.
>Would you like me to lie to you now?
Dylan Jackson
Meh. I've been watching it for the first time these past few weeks. Just finished the season 3.
I don't care about Gunn I can't stand the evil lawyer chick. Lorn is underused. The banter isn't very good.
It's not bad...but I don't love it like I do Buffy.
Nolan Davis
I'd definitely put Angel in the top 5 for series finales, no problem. And funnily enough, Amy Acker was also heavily featured in another finale I'd put in that list. Coincidence?
James Lewis
the final scene in the alley was great too
Thomas Wright
So, who's the best girl in the buffyverse and why is it Illyria?
Angel Bailey
Did anyone read the canon Buffy comics? I heard they were pretty fucking weird.
Angel Powell
Because she's legitimately a cool and interesting character, in addition to being cute
Julian Allen
Joss Whedon did Angel - then he imploded and placed his own cock firmly in his mouth and never did anything decent again.
Leo Evans
There is a lot of weird in the comics. I read em just to know the continued story of pic related too bad no more real Amy in the drawings Most people hate em anyways, it's not for everyone. Only if you loved the show or the universe and wanted more. Weird includes stuff like flying buffy, giles is now a child, dracula is a buddy now, zompires...
Liam Ortiz
where do I get a blue gf who can lie to me and be insanely qt too btw?
Samuel Reyes
Only in dreams
Isaac Edwards
Is it true that Buffy gets pregnant and kind of has a lesbian phase? Does she end up alone or did she pick Angel or Spike in the end?
John Edwards
When I finally manage to have that dream... I don't wanna wake up ever ;_;
If you don't mind the spoilers lesbian phase, yes, she sleeps with another slayer who was in love with her, and the pregnancy is just a trick, she wasn't pregnant in the end, it was Andrew who did something to swap her identity with the buffybot for a while
Lincoln Ortiz
>Buffy comics? I heard they were pretty fucking weird
Buffy and Angel create a universe by having sex. That was an actual comic story.
Michael Barnes
Sounds like porn-with-plot kind of story.
Evan Campbell
It's objectively pretty shitty, yes, except maybe for the After the Fall Angel series which is kinda like the Angel season that we never did and never will get. So if you intend to give it a go, don't expect kino or reasonable stuff, just get ready to not care about the crazy. I enjoyed it personally, but only because of personal nostalgia reasons
Landon Howard
>tfw every buffy or angel thread ends up being about fred/illyria/amy no matter what
i love it lads
Hudson Ross
Oh, never. I was curious about it for nostalgia as well, but I don't love it enough to actually read the whole thing. I was just wondering if it gave any resolution to the whole Spike-Buffy-Angel thing.
The zompire thing sounds particularly stupid, though. What the fuck where they on?
Sebastian Martinez
It's funny that a character who was obviously designed as a flimsy pretext to get Acker out of her naughty librarian outfit and gimmick, which was getting stale, and put her into a tight leather costume to put a new angle on her sex appeal, ended up being one of the best written characters on any Joss Whedon show.
Zachary Smith
Well, she is the undisputed queen of the buffyverse after all... And I don't think I'll ever stop being mad at the people who cancelled the show just a few chapters after seeing her.
And right, the Spike-Angel thing... Well, comics are still going on so it doesnt seem like anything is "over" Heard somewhere that Whedon wanted Angel to be the final guy for Buffy, so the "destined" thing is canon i suppose... But the last I read, Spike is her current bf. Zompires were something about a story arc where the "seed of magic" was destroyed, no magic in the world, no demons could pass to inhabit newly turned vampires, so, zompires happened.
Adam Perez
they killed it when they did because the budget got bloated as fuck, and when it was severely cut, joss had the gall to demand they either renew him for season 6, less than half way through 5, or cancel it, and they said "fuck off"
Camden Lewis
>Well, comics are still going on What!? Seriously? Nevermind, then, I'm never touching that stuff. Hope you survive the read, user.
Lucas Howard
That and she was played very well by Amy Acker. Any other actress could have made all of her dialogue sound really cheesy really easily, but Amy nailed it.
Kayden Powell
Is Giles still young again? I thought that was one of the few neat things going on last I read.
Gavin Russell
it all goes into one shitty chronologically released shitfest that can be broken up into eras
era 1. mostly noncanon fuck-it-verse, where they were just selling shit while the show was going, to make money. the only things canon really are just things not dealing with buffy directly
era 2, the canon universe, where everyone gets their own storys. its filled with minis arcs dealing with specific characters, or groups, and for the most part is... good. IMO, much of spikes minis are good, angel after the fall is pretty decent, and angel & faith isnt that bad, but im a massive sperg for faith. era basically ends after the "end" of after the fall, when angel becomes buffys pet again
era 3, the "fuck it we dont make enough money from this shit"-verse. everything is still canon, but their give full comics or series of minis severely died down. at this point, angel was regulated to a background character again, and was written to literally fuck a universe into existence. only really ongoing titles at this point are angel&faith, and the "everyone suck buffys dick hour, starring buffy and the rest of them"
every era has some good stories, but honestly, the better a title is, is generally inversely related to how much it actually fits into their "season" method. other than season 6+ of angel, the only good things are minis or one shots
Bentley Perez
"She's one of us now. She's a monster." "She's an innocent victim." "So were we... once upon a time."
i don't think i cared for season 5 when i first saw it but looking back its full of prefect moments.
Sebastian Morgan
Me too. But as long as pic related is still part of some stories... I think i can take it. also, Fred is back too Yeah, still a child.
Evan Wood
kek
Chase Davis
Nose not pointy enough to be Amy. 2/10 artwork
it is great that fredikins is back in the comics though. I will always love her a little more than Illyria, shes classic, vintage amy
Tyler Gomez
Ow, fuck, my feels!
I forgot how much I liked that stupid show.
Jack Gray
Artists change quite often, so that's not even the worse of them. Had to use a lot of imagination for this thing to work... covers are usually better though, some of them resemble Amy still. I missed her pointy nose so much...
Yes, somebody actually wrote a song about your waifu.
Aiden Baker
im probably in the minority but i really dont like angel, buffy is so much better.
Asher Parker
the Deftones song A Hole in the Earth always reminds me of this scene
Evan Taylor
I think Illyria was my first TV waifu. Godkingfu. Whatever.
Christian Phillips
Because Amy Acker is weird in that she's a cute waif that is also a fantastic actress and can actually project power and authority.
Jackson Clark
Is it true that literally everyone wants to fuck Buffy?
Parker Sanchez
Amy's nose is a work of art. It is the finest nose in Hollywood
That actually wasnt nearly as bad as you'd expect a song about a character on Angel to be
Carter Fisher
>you will never worship Illyria, greatest of the Hell Gods, Shaper of things >you will never keep her scriptures by opening your own thorax and suturing a cuneiform tablet beneath your sternum >you will never hold her banner high and conquer universes in the vain hope she might actually notice you >you will never feel that one final moment of perfect horrifying ecstasy when she learns your name and the cyclopean weight of her barest thought collapses your being like a rotting melon
Wyatt Nelson
That's a very different story than I heard but I could imagine that happening. Between network stupidity and Whedon's ego, anything is possible.
Juan King
>Joss Whedon did Angel - then he imploded and placed his own cock firmly in his mouth and never did anything decent again.
I like most of Firefly (but I'm a sucker for westerns and western mashups), and dollhouse had... Uh... A few good scenes and a lot of potential (that all got shit away in a terrible fucking ending - like three times. Three fucking terrible endings).
Nolan Robinson
still would
Cooper Nguyen
There is no better end than being host for Illyria. why would you want Fred back?
Nolan James
Anyone that wouldn't is fucking gay.
Austin Wright
She's literally a god tier waifu. Stands logical someone writes her a song. Not only the qtest qt but also a great and actually talented actress. ...So underrated... I worship her in all her forms >B-but user... this is also me... d-dont you like me this way?
Parker Torres
Firefly is the best series that never was. Dollhouse would have been great if not for being centered on Eliza Dushku as Whedon's Mary-Sue. Just wish it was on a different network so they could stop pussyfooting around the Dollhouse mostly just being an extremely expensive brothel for billionare fetishists
I loved Alan Tudyk's performance in it. nd the twist of who the ultimate villain was I liked in concept, but hated in implementation (like almost everything on the stupid show).
Christopher Foster
Illyria is not only best waifu, but also best Adriatic province of the Roman Empire.
Luke Carter
Fact: Dollhouse would have been vastly improved if pic related played Echo, not Dushku. I like Dushku well enough but she just didn't have the range to play a bunch of different roles like that
Grayson Perez
I remember watching Buffy as a kid, I loved it. I tried a rewatch this year and I just couldn't swallow all the 90's teenage stuff. It aged like piss.
I think Angel had a more "mature" feel to it, Buffy seemed intended to a more teenage audience, at least until the later seasons.
Levi Perry
The Alpha reveal blew me the fuck away. I didn't see it coming at all. Great casting.
Also that guy from the Matrix that created the company did nothing wrong.
Andrew Reyes
Wesley is one of my all-time favorite characters in anything.
Adam Price
shes not all that athletic tho, I can't see her jumping around doing flying roundhouses etc. she is a much better actor
Jackson Hughes
Yes and yes.
Completely agree.
Aiden Campbell
only good bit in the entire show was the alpha revel that shit was dope, everything else sucked
Jack Cruz
Amy Acker is god tier but to husbandofag for a bit...I know this is really lame but I'm not sure I've seen a better character arc on television than Wesley's slow transformation over the course of Angel.
>Fact: Dollhouse would have been vastly improved if pic related played Echo, not Dushku. I never thought of this and now I wish you hadn't pointed it out because I will never live in a universe where this happens.
Robert Turner
>Did you always want to be a doctor?
Josiah Thompson
>Wesley's slow transformation
Yes, absolutely. He did a great job with all of it, and the writers actually pulled it off.
Julian Miller
>shes not all that athletic tho, I can't see her jumping around doing flying roundhouses etc. This is true but can be said of almost every stronk womyn Whedon has ever had cast for such a role. Dushku is the only one that's had any muscle at all, from Gellar to Johanssen.
Ian Garcia
She's also a dancer and had to train martial arts for a few of her roles
Jeremiah Turner
>that episode God she was a wonderful monster.
Charles Perry
Illyria choosing not to die and take a large chunk of the planet with her is the most insanely selfless act in the series, prove me wrong.
Imagine a person willingly becoming a quadruple amputee to preserve a few proteins in a tube for another ten minutes, to get an idea of the relative scale here.
James Morris
tbf the part would have been slightly rewritten to play to her strengths, so yea it could have worked
Eli Morales
>that smirk unf.
She also looked really good in a suit at the end of Dollhouse.
Wyatt Richardson
pretty much. whatever side of the angel/buffy fence you fall on, the angel comics are basically the same, some ways better, some ways worse the buffy comics are basically the worse parts of the show, combined with the worse parts of the angel comic
Daniel Richardson
>prove me wrong I--I I cant... Thats when Illyria started to become a goddess of love as well >tfw ywn teach her about compassion >Illyria is love >Illyria is life
Connor Peterson
Thats not surprising seeing as how Amy literally looks good in a potato sack too
Chase Cook
>Joss Whedon did Angel joss oversaw angel, and did very little actual work on the show. he wrote less than 5 episodes
its a few facts conflated to make joss sound terrible, but its true the show was using a shitton of money, AND it was the current highest rated show on the network in an effort to rein in the budget, they regulated MUCH of season 5 to the office, rather than a series of several large sets and reoccurring areas, it became literally one large set, actually smaller than the entry way of the hotel. its why so much of season 5 takes place in office, just to save money
and the reason joss got the show canceled was, that every season of the show, the network waited till the very last minute to renew the show, each season. in season 5, like i mentioned, it was the highest rated show, and they kept those ratings while successfully lowering their budget. joss thought he could use his clout, and the shows success to "get the show renewed early, so the cast and crew wouldnt have to worry about their jobs disappearing, like they worried each other year" it backfired, when he backed the network into a corner they said "we literally cannot renew you this early, you're canceled" he gave the network an ultimatum, and they went against him. i think they know the series wasnt picked up something really early like episode 10 of the season, so he tried to renew them less than half way into it, and the entire cast and crew knew they were going to be let go by the 12th episode
Levi Bennett
But that in itself was an act of compassion beyond all human imagining. She doesn't need you to teach her compassion.
Y'all niggas need Illyria.
Noah Peterson
>the entire cast and crew knew they were going to be let go by the 12th episode see a story I heard was they found out at what was suppose to be the wrap party
Ayden Gray
true
>tfw it was only cancelled because they asked WB too early if they were going to get renewed or not
>WB wanted to renew it later but David had already gotten a new show
>BONES
Andrew Miller
Holy shit execs were idiots. I assumed its ratings were still mediocre.
Ryan Ward
I've been slowly rewatching the last season these past few weeks, but I think i need to rewatch this kino too... for Amy, before her new show begins
Jose Ortiz
As much as I would have liked to see another season of Illyria, it's probably for the best that it ended before Joss could run it completely off the rails
Adrian Scott
But Season 5 was by far the best thing he was ever associated with. Maybe this event was what finally drove him over the edge?
Isaac Collins
This show was basically ripping off world of darkness/vampire the masquerade and making it palatable for normies, I still enjoyed it though >tfw we will never get a real vtm show just end me
Daniel Thompson
I'd say greenwalt is more responsible for the good then Joss he seemed to be a producer by that point with very little creative input
Kayden Thompson
that was firefly, poor fucks
Robert Foster
I too have been pre-gaming for the new Amykino, only I'm rewatching Person of Interest instead.
Jordan Hall
They say Joss put some input to the After the Fall comic series... No idea what's his though but... >There is a specific arc called Illyria - Haunted which is specifically about her and it's pretty awesome tbqh, better than the average of comics. She goes back to the deeper well, regains her full powers in stable form this time and fights another elder demon that just woke up from the well. Finds that she cares for this world and it's about why would she fight for it stuff. Uses some weird plant grow powers too and gains a pet.
Grayson Rogers
it was the party for the 100th episode
also the only reason charisma agreed to come back (she didnt enjoy working with joss after the whole season 4 fuckup) was that he promised cordelia wouldnt die
episode 100 is the one where cordy dies
the closest thing you could say in their defense was that, it was very early in the season, it wasnt proven that their money saving was working (the show still cost alot, even if it was far less than season 4) and the head of the wb at that time was a literal retard. as far as i know, both critics and viewers loved what they had so far (possibly because it couldnt be worse than season 4)
joss was an executive producer for the show, not a head writer. that being said, the head writers were all people that worked for him at mutant enemy. i personally think that the reason angel is so good is because he took a backseat, and just became an ideas guy. he did little actual writing, he just approved storylines and episodes. david greenwalt and... the lady i cant remember her name both did far more actual work on the show than joss
Hudson Barnes
I know, I read it. It's the only thing of the Buffy comics I ever bothered to read
it was ok i guess, but im not a big comic guy
Kevin Foster
>yfw Lorne in Spin The Bottle telling the story is from the last episode when Angel told them to have their day to do whatever
Jonathan Davis
o fugg
Asher Rodriguez
>yfw he's dead IRL cried gently when i found out
Owen Roberts
I would rewatch this every single year. I fucking loved this show! FUCK NETFLIX FOR NOT PAYING TO KEEP IT!!! REEEEEEEEEE!
Luke Hughes
Angel comics this year also seem more focused on Illyria/Fred. First part was a time travel thing where Illyria returned to her own prehistoric past, they show how she ruled, her minions and stuff about "feared as well as loved" After that, another time period that I have no idea where it is going, but it still has them both and Angel in it... Drawings are 1/10 though... Imagination is heavily required. Seeing pics of Amy helps
RIP Andy/Lorne ;_;
Jaxon Wilson
;_;
Austin Flores
>We want the 90s rave goth audience
Joseph Robinson
At least Wesley hasn't died IRL
Ayden Ramirez
Vampire the Masquerade was itself a ripoff of various "dark fantasy" properties. These concepts are not remotely new.
