The Disaster Artist

I saw this film at SXSW and now that everyone is talking about it, this is a good time for this thread.

Ask me anything about the movie Sup Forums

Is Franco's accent better than it seems in the trailer? It really took me out of it.

Is this movie low budget? It seems like it probably had a smaller budget than the $8 million (adjusted) it took to make the original.

Yeah he nails the character in the film.

I get why they aired that trailer he seems to have dropped the accent from the cut I was shown.

He nails the character pretty well and everyone at my showing agreed.

how many weed jokes does seth make?

Is it just a shit Ed Wood?

It's definitely budget for sure it feels more like a passion project for Franco and Rogen more than anything.

None, his character doesn't do that much.

Similar tone to Ed Wood for sure.

Is Francos other brother Tom in it? Why wasn't Tom asked to play Greg?

Was it well received? Is this Franco's best film directing and acting wise?

It's by far Franco's best film. The film was received really well, consistent laughs throughout and everybody clapped at the end. James, Seth and Dave were there themselves and seemed extremely ecstatic about the whole thing.

I'm not sure, Dave as Greg isn't that good. He's fine but it's not the best performance by a long shot.

Can't fucking wait for this

How many dicks did u suck at SXSW?

how reddit is it?

Was it a straight-up comedy or did it have emotional or touching moments?

Did you read the book it was based on, by the way? How faithful was it adapted?

It's for the majority a straight up comedy. Especially when they get to the production of the actual movie.

I haven't read the book but from what I heard a lot of the production moments are lifted directly

Some complained about the pacing being off as the earlier parts are out of order with the book.

>It's for the majority a straight up comedy. Especially when they get to the production of the actual movie.
well fuck. the best parts of the book were the unexpected feels you get slammed with

How annoying is Dave Franco?

Pretty annoying, it's over after completely.

I heard this from a few people.

Over acting*

Do they show James navel fucking Ari?

Anyone read the book? is it worth reading?

pls don't send me to /lit/

It's honestly the funniest book I've ever read and it's pretty emotional at times too.

It's excellent, just go read it

Easy langauge too, so even a pleb can enjoy it

Cheers guys, I did an order of the book

>everybody clapped at the end

Get the audiobook, Greg's Tommy is spot on

>adonis Greg Sestero played by ratface manlet kike Dave Franco

i will never stop REEing about this

youtube.com/watch?v=K40IToeN51Y

holy shit it is, why didn't they get Greg to play Tommy in the film

Agreed. James Franco is missing the mark for Tommy's Mannerisms. I assume this is some James Franco vanity piece, more so than capturing the accuracy of the story. However, his brother does look a lot like Greg.

The worst thing Franco could do is make it a forgettable movie.

Dave Franco's tooth:gum ratio is messing with me.

Do we get a Tommy's planet scene ?

>now I have finally become order of the book
Bravo Nolan

I know read so good, I did say no send me to /lit/

Because James Franco is a selfish hack who has to star in anything he makes

Do you mean Ucraine + cocaine addiction?

Any word on a release date for UK? Only just heard about this and I'm so fucking hyped, I love The Room

I think it's bullshit that Tommy's not in it. Tommy is immensely more fascinating than people trying to be him.

Best F(r)iends will probably be better.

Full book link?

Nevermind, I remembered Google was a thing. 8th of December 2017, for anyone interested

They didn't remove everything that wasn't straight up comedy, did they? They at least kept the James Dean roadtrip, right?

All G
Found it

>Best F(r)iends
Just checked the trailer for this
How are they all so terrible
It's like worse than an 80's Porn acting
That said I will see this

Doesn't Wiseau have a cameo?

His accent isn't bad at all. He just lacked conviction at the end with: "I did NAAHT"

youtube.com/watch?v=zLhoDB-ORLQ

Apparently he's playing a character called "Henry"

The amount of cameos is insane. I don't think any of the comedians in the trailer are playing significant roles.

I've never seen the room
Where can I watch it

You can't, it was removed from the internet, along with search engines and torrent programs and streaming services.

Why are you all so fucking useless

You're mean

it's one of the greast books of the 21st century

up there with the greeks.

This. His impersonation isn't very good.

Who did they cast for doggy?
It's a pivotal scene...

Where is the fucking trailer for this?

>HOW I FIND THINGS ME STUPID WAAAAAAAAAH

youtube.com/watch?v=4qab3TMg42k

Does it show all the stuff from the book?

please tell me there's the scene from the book where he makes the actress who plays lisa cry, that was fucking hysterical

is real dog?

Who plays Lisa in this? Nothing on imdb..

read the book once, listened to the audiobook twice.

It's actually really inspiring in a weird way.

funniest book ive ever read in my life. there were parts in it that i had to put the book down for a few minutes because i was laughing so hard

>a24 releases Room
>a24 releases The Disaster Artist, making of The Room

is this pottery?

That's the US date. No Irish/UK date set yet.
We'll probably get it February next year

i can't stop laughing holy shit

SXSW Q&A

youtu.be/4-TR5CS8Kws

Thank you user.

>Greg plays Tommy
>Tommy plays Greg
WHY THE FUCK COULDN'T WE GET THIS

at least they're making a new movie together this year with all the vampire shit Tommy wanted

top fucking kek

The fucking green screen background kills me every time, I love how they could have just shot outside since they were in San Francisco but Tommy insisted on it for some reason.

I would rather pic related with an essay and a full documentary on its making over this new movie.

one of the few good casting choices they made

a24's youtube

JUST SEARCH FOR THE FUCKING TITLE ON YOUTUBE YOU DUMB CUNT

HOW CAN YOU BE THIS FUCKING INCOMPETENT

December 1st if you live in the big cities

Well it is a dubbed line

Can I get a quick rundown on this guy? Seriously. I'm not underage, just never looked at more than 5 seconds of this retard. He think's he's a good actor+director, but he's a complete mong? is that the joke?

I also saw the movie, but it was much earlier at a test screening

It was a rough cut but otherwise felt like a very finished film aside from some audio issues and color correction stuff

Ask me whatever you'd like

[spoilers] it's hilarious >mfw [/spoiler]

Sold.

Tommy Wiseau literally has autism.

I feel sorry for Greg Sestero. From reading the book, you can tell that he had genuine dreams of being a real actor - but now all he seems to do is stuff relating to the Room or Tommy himself. Tommy seems happy to be a walking meme, but I'm not sure Greg feels the same way

>tfw seeing the room in theaters when i Lived in SF

pure magic m8s. shame i dont ive there anymore and the theater i would see it at closed down.

Man this looks like such bullshit. Rogen and Franco pick up cultural curiosities and suck the life out of them in this grossly disingenuous manner.

Whichever way you watch it, I highly recommend you watch it with at least one other person. You'll have the time of your life.

Who specifically?
How serious is the film? Is it mostly just a comedy?

Kek

>everybody clapped at the end
I hate murricans

That's all well and good, but you do know the same shit happens at Cannes, right?

shrill anti-americanism is a very reddit pathology, desu

How can a movie be a website?

Greg's acting is even worse than Tommy's. He never stood a chance.

>can't stand a little banter
lol Amerifats

>ilm.
>I get why they aired that trailer he seems to have dropped the accent from the cut I was shown.
>He nails the character pretty well and everyone at my showing agreed.

oh you know

Nah, your banter is just generic.

Said the amerishart.

I am angrily sharting as we speak.

Cause it's easier to be in doors with controlled lightning.

>How can a movie be a website?

its on TPB for anyone who wants it

but buy the book and support greg that man needs it

he can't act worth a damn, so i don't feel sorry for him. i find the book hilarious, but the truth is he's a complete asshole for writing it. if you had a weird friend like tommy would you write a book about all the strange and weird things he has done? greg tries to cover his ass in the book by talking about some of the things he admires about tommy, but that's only like 10% of the book, the other 90% is just tommy doing weird things.

he seems kind of like a dick from the interviews i've watched

what theater would you go to, user?

I used to live a few blocks away from Fillmore, I'd go to The Clay a bunch of times.

>Want to see a really killer website?

WEW

Although that cover did always spook me at Blockbuster.

Seconding this
