i was actually pretty surprised that this entire episode turned out as good as it did. the fight scene was great, and the character interactions were top notch.

Alright thread, I went ahead and marathoned the first season despite not really liking the first few episodes and Steven, and you know what?
I liked it. I started to like it more at around episode 10 when Lion shows up. Too many birthdays also made me lose my shit near the end. Giant Woman was great too, hoping to see more of Opal in the future. Coach Steven as well as Steven and the Stevens was fun to watch. And Jesus Christ I love Lapis's design. She's pretty cool too. Space Race is probably my favorite episode so far in terms of a more serious undertone. Not a fan of Connie though, she seems pretty boring.
Overall I'm glad I broke my 5 episode rule, the show is pretty fun so far. Gonna go ahead and get started on Season 2 next.

i think the general consensus is the fights are sub par at best, but the fight in steven vs amethyst actually had some flow and impact behind it which automatically bumps it way the fuck up there even if it doesnt actually sit in great tier for an animated fight scene
