I will never not be mad. All the money I spent on the trades for Avengers and New Avengers...

I will never not be mad. All the money I spent on the trades for Avengers and New Avengers, all the floppies I bought for Time Runs Out, it probably adds up to the most expensive story I've ever bought. And it ends with this heap of trash? Fuck you Marvel, Fuck you Hickman, and fuck you too Ribic for half-assing your normally amazing artwork.

YARRRR! ...and that's why we don't buy anyithing unfinished, especially from the Big2

>fuck you too Ribic for half-assing your normally amazing artwork
Muh deadlines and editorial fuck-ups.

Hickman's Avengers was alright by itself tbqh

Nothing amazing, but I enjoyed it. Certainly better than the build up to Infinity

The part where uncle Steve Rogers is chasing the Illuminati while the world is on the brink of annihilation is utter horseshit, but indeed: exploring the concept of Incursions, the the ramifications of destroying other worlds and the effect it had on the characters was much better than the actual SW event.

Secret Wars was the best event that either of the big two have put out in over a decade easily.

...

>2016
>Still buying physical comics

Get Marvel Unlimited you pleb

>YARRRR!
THIS.
I can't even imagine how pissed I'd be if I was OP.

I'm still pissed about how shit Bendis's run was on both main X-books and I got all of those via the Win-o!

On the DC side the same goes for Batman Eternal or, even moreso, Futures End!

>best event
>in over a decade easily.
I ... don't think I can disagree with this. The tie-in's were, for the most part, really really good.

And yet it fucked up several of the books I was reading (Magneto just fucking ENDS after all that build up!; Daredevil just strait-up reboots to the old status quo (well, he's an ADA rather than doing mostly pro bono defense work ... but still. Lame.) AND the "End Of The World" issues are utterly pointless since the world does NOT in fact END and, with a few exceptions like DD, they just pick right up where they left off like nothing happened. That's like two months of pointless wangsty filler FFS!

Hopefully [image related] tanks hard before Rebirth's bump fades so DC will be back ontop of the sales for a few months and that will get the attention of someone in Mouseville ... because as long as the current crop of top execs are in charge the House of Rehashed Ideas is just going to continue to rot on the vine.

>thinking X-fags won't turn it into best-selling title

Standoff and Forever Evil were better

It's because instead of a normal event it was a sandbox for everyone to play with the craziest ideas they could. It was a bunch of what if stories that also had a good excuse to make different versions of each character. A lot of the side books weren't that great but that was the fault of writers not the tools they were given to play with

The main issue is that it's a big Avengers focused lead-in that eventually leads to a Reed centered Fantastic 4 story - to the point of making Steve and Stark stupid and selfish in order to avoid having to feature them in the main mini itself.

Hickman sowed the seeds even earlier in his Fantastic Four run.

Read issues 1-10, skip issues 11 and 12, resume at 13.

Nah, that site is shit.

You tried to be funny, but you failed.

>X-fags
>best-selling title
I dunno, mugga. I read the whole Bendy run and I've been dealing with their mindless BS shit since Schism ... but I passed on Hopless's book (because: Hopeless); passed on Uncanny (because: Landart); and passed on Extraordinary (because: Lemire can't into teams AND Ramosart).

The only X-book I'm reading is X-23's solo and the only Inhuman book I'm reading is Ms. Marvel.

At this point I'm ignoring Civil War (because: bendy gonna bend) and I'm so far past giving a shit about how they're gonna fuck up Rightclops in DoX or how moronic and contrived IvX is inevitably going to be ... I'm just numb with apathy.

>making Characters act completely out of character in order to achieve whatever Editorial Mandate they're shilling this month
They do this *literally* in every single Big Event, though.

Look at sales, mugga. X-books still sell well.

But Secret Wars didn't come out in this decade. Secret Wars III did, but that was shit.

>X-books still sell well.
This is sadly true. But they're clearly not doing as well as they used to do:
34 Civil War II X-Men 1 68,470
45 Old Man Logan 7 51,926
51 Extraordinary X-Men 11 45,532
52 Uncanny X-Men 8 45,409
53 All New All Different Avengers 10 44,965
54 Uncanny X-Men 9 44,617
56 All New Wolverine 9 43,545
62 All New X-Men 10 39,978
66 Uncanny Avengers 10 38,614
83 Uncanny Inhumans 11 29,539
91 X-Men 92 4 25,044
92 Uncanny Inhumans 10 24,552
183 X-Men Worst X-Man Ever 5 11,327

>and fuck you too Ribic for half-assing your normally amazing artwork.
I bought this solely for Ribic and yeah, gotta agree. I wanted to blame the fact he stuck to penciling instead of painting he whole thing and still do for the most part but after he literally copypasted GoT panels... yeah, nah, he fucked up.
Plus I gave all the Avengers shit leading up to it a wide berth and still felt underwhelmed by the story. Why the fuck did they timeskip all over the place? I wanted to see the survivors getting into Battleworld antics: Reed meeting Maker, Carol cucking Sinister, Namor & T'Challa overcoming their differences. Nope, too nuanced, lets off-panel the whole lot of it.
It was my first event and tbqh my last until Ewing & Ward's Eternity War.

>They do this *literally* in every single Big Event, though.
My point there is that, in this case, they do that just to make less Avengers pop up in the main story of the mini, even though most of the lead up to the event was in the Avengers' books. It makes the whole thing rather unsatisfying since Steve and Tony are just killed without any development or relevancy to the story, in spite of books focusing on them being the biggest part of the lead up to Secret Wars.

>killed without any development or relevancy to the story
We call that "getting Jobbed" around here. And, yes, it's always infuriating.

Gee, maybe it's because a certain couple of authors poisoned the well for the franchise.

>authors poisoned the well
>authors
Putting shit writers on the books while simultaneously pushing Inhumans is at the Editorial level, brah.

Not that it's been working, mind you.

And it could still be worse: Fantastic Four has literally been obliterated from the current MCU post SW (unless your count Johnny shacking up with the Hair Metal Queen ).

>buying comics

>the worst selling x-books are XMen / Avengers book and a book literally called "Worst"
poetry

>he didn't stop reading after secret wars

That was the definitive end m8

Everything published now is just glorified fanfiction

>buying the electronic Jew

>people didn't like Secret Wars 3

I did stop reading after Secret Wars. Not because it was "muh end", but because it was so appalling that I had no desire to touch a Marvel comic as long as I lived.

Keep trying hard you DC tryhard.

...

Can we all agree that the minis were fantastic?
Convergence, Secret Wars, and Multiversity are the best three I can recall

>the electronic Jew

Hickman was especially bad, though.

His Reed in general feels like his fanfiction about the current crop of "science advocates" than actual Reed Richards. He told his kids there was no afterlife when he's BEEN TO THE AFTERLIFE.

Yeah that's my biggest beef with Hickman's run. I'm an Avengers fan and I couldn't give any less of a shit about the FF, when it became obvious that it was really an FF story I felt ripped off.

>the minis were fantastic
For the most part, yes. Yes we can.

Marble has, historically, had much crappier Events tied to much better tie-ins and much more interesting consequences (the first Civil War, for example, had wallbangingly stupid writing in the Event itself, but the way it worked in the various ongoings was mostly pretty good).

How did Hickman's Reed compare to Fraction and Robinson's?

>Starbrand's powers awakening, his power causes an entire college campus to explode around him, 3000 dead
>Avengers show up, crack a joke about the kid needing pants
>Starbrand never feels heavy remorse or turmoil for the incident
The characters lost their humanity, it was shit.

>Hickman was especially bad, though.
I honestly wouldn't know: I dropped Avengers and New Avengers after 30 or so issues of Not Far Now!! and assumed that after skipping over a year of build up I wouldn't really have any idea what was going on in the main book. Some of the self contained mini's were fun though.

far better than both robinson was boring but continuity porn with some nice d listers showing up
fraction's fantastic four was terrible and his ff was good with some shitty moments

He's right. I think the "New Avengers" trades are still worth having, I enjoyed it up until it turned into secret wars

>3000 dead
>little to no fallout
That's especially egregious given that the Stamford, Connecticut incident that precipitated the first Civil War was an orders of magnitude less in severity (600 civilians, 60 of whom were children).

But this is the same Marvel Editorial that had Origin Bombs dropping all over the world and obliterating whole cities with zero fall out in any other titles, so, ya know ...

Hnnnn Forever Eil was good as fuck, I liked Blackest Night also

>I will never not be mad

What do you mean by this? I'm confused. Are you... mad? or not mad?

>Are you... mad? or not mad?
He's saying that his Mad is Eternal. Like Herpes.

>tfw im a FF fan.

>tfw avengers fags began to become insufferable after the avengers movie

>tfw i loved secret wars because im a FF fan.

>tfw i never followed Hickman Avengers until its relevant issues in times runs out.
>tfw Avengers fags got nothing resolved.

>tfw marvels shitting all over the X men as well

>tfw Reed&co are away playing and basically live happily ever after

feels good to be FFag these days guys.

must suck to be poor like you faggots

>if I needlessly spend lots of money maybe my wife's kids will love me

I don't buy comics for more than a dollar or two, usually
I either pirate or go to my library, which gets an impressive amount of floppies then throws them away one year later, so I now own a bunch of them too

I did buy Original Sin at full price though, not really sure why the fuck I did that

I would agree if the ending was better for Sue and Val. Who got no resolution like franklin and Reed did. Sue was being raped by Doom and Val...it was never really revealed how much she knew what was going on in Secret Wars. Her plot was just a mindless drone moving through actions and she did nothing in the end.

Grimm got a cool last harrah and torch was sent off to space off panel. But him being the Sun is still fucking cool

SCW
Messiah Complex (fuck it, all X-events from 2007 up to Schism)
Blackest Night
Final Crisis
Forever Evil

You said in over a decade, not within the decade.

No. Multiversity you trash Mouseketeer.

At least it had some great tie-ins.

>Mouseketeer
It must be nice when your chosen comic book company was purchased by a media conglomerate over 50 years ago. Seems like people look the other way when it happened so long ago.
