Korey Coleman went on a rant about how Ayer and WB basically had a good template to work off of with this movie but they somehow couldn't even do that.
The Assault on Arkham movie has better relationships between the Squad, the Joker is integrated in a way that actually makes sense, there are way better set pieces and it doesn't look like someone pissed on the camera lens before filming.

You mean how Joker was literally cucked by Harley and Deadshot? Or how no one on the team had any trust between them? How they backstabbed each other with the first opportunity? Or how half the team died by the end?

The only point I agree doesn't work for an ongoing film franchise is the last one about half of them dying. I think making a first Squad movie where there's almost no trust between them and having them develop camaraderie throughout various movies could work. Imagine the "we're family" scene being a payoff in a future movie rather then happening almost for no reason like it did.
