Why is this film never talked about here? I just watched it, and thought it was pretty good.
Knowing the background of the film makes it seem very pretentious, but I didn't think it was as I watched it.

It has some nice practical effects. That's it.

Its a very mediocre movie with some very interesting artistic choices and nice costuming.

And adult kids film

Uses the same plot device as The Princess Bride

Better looking and more original

Anyone who actually likes films left this board years ago.

Also, Singh hasn't made a decent movie since.

It's a bad movie with nice visuals.
Pretty meh.

>Knowing the background of the film makes it seem very pretentious
How? Its a movie about making movies and storytelling in general.

Had potential, like these fairy tale/real world kinda movies. Looks absolutely amazing.
Other than that pretty mediocre

>director single-handedly financed it
>filmed in over 20 different countries
>no CGI
>scenes with the little girl are unscripted
>the crew were convinced the main actor was actually paralysed

Why is everyone saying it's meh? it's the only movie that's ever brought me close to tears as an adult. It was beautiful.

I remember that Sup Forums used to talk about it all the time years ago

>Also, Singh hasn't made a decent movie since.
Does he write his own scripts? It seems like he would benefit from a creative collaboration with a really good scriptwriter.
He has the visual aspects down better than most of his peers but it all feels like its in service of a the most lackluster stories and it never elevates the material.

They think its the same as a Wes Anderson film: great production design but no heart

How does any of that make it "pretentious"?

>Why is this film never talked about here?
Maybe because the plot was a vehicle for the visuals. The innocence and brilliance of youthful perception. A love letter to our world and what is in it.

>Wes Anderson
>no heart

Wow, no wonder Star Wars and capeshit dominate this board.

>tfw you will never get to watch it in a theater

It had a tremendous amount of heart

Ripped of Baraka, cringe-tier plot without any substance at all.

Its the type of amateur film artist stuff that directors will allow themselves to believe will translate to more honest/genuine performance, but it actually doesn't have any effect on anything actually shown.

garth marenghi's darkplace is basically three hours of this concept

>Baraka
>not a rip off of Il pianeta azzurro and the -qatsi films

>honest/genuine

I bet you think Armond White is a real critic.

the fall straight copies scenes and shots directly from baraka.

Immortals is good too

Like what?

You wouldn't need to ask if you'd seen the movies.

I saw it like 5 years ago.

Which? the fall or baraka? As we're talking about two movies.

>a couple of shots most likely meant as homage
>rip offed a whole movie
This fucking board, I swear.

>defending plagiarism

Enjoy your pleb shit if thats what you want to do. I was just pointing out as was the other user with taste.

Do either of you even know what film that shot from the REM video is referencing?

I'm pretty sure its something only you can tell us.

So no?

It's entry level as fuck if you watched anything outside of capeshit.

This.

This too

I'm going to take that as proof of

I'm going to take this proof of your ignorance of cinema.

I saw it twice, the first time I liked the story quite a bit, and the second time, like 5 years later, I watched it for the visuals, which are just great

it's a very aesthetically pleasing film; the story though isn't all that amazing, but it's ok
srsly I think it's a beautiful movie; I've rarely seen such great use of color

a bit overrated on imdb, I think

Damn. it looks like my favourite japanese cartoon

>cinema
>music video about post-masturbatory guilt
...

>Do either of you even know what film that shot from the REM video is referencing?
...

...

Still no?

Unironically my favorite film

Your reluctance to state what you feel the shot is referencing is only further reinforcing the assertion that said reference does not exist outside of your own mind.

What if I told you the reference has been noted on the Wikipedia article of Losing My Religion?

Not the autist involved in this reply chain, but what's this a homage to? I probably am entry level as fuck.

Then I would shift gears and imply your film knowledge comes from wikipedia.

What if I told you I made that edit?

Did you just fucking diss both The Fall and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace in one post?!!?

user, if I knew who you were we'd be discussing what you think is actually "honest/genuine" film and television in some back alley of your shit town if you catch my drift.

As bad as Sup Forums gets you're one of the worst. Never show your face on these boards of a Mongolian knitting site ever fucking again Armond White.

Seems more like you're trying to imply, somehow, that even though Singh's entire career has been based in and upon outright plagiarism, hes somehow not guilty of plagiarism.

Seems like you haven't seen a single Tarkovsky film.

Darkplace is making fun of directors like singh.

It seems like you proved the initial assertion that singh copies whole scenes and shots from better movies/directors and, having failed to refute that, are attempting to assert some other level of superiority in order to save face.

there is even BBC, nice

>Singh's entire career has been based in and upon outright plagiarism
That's a bold and unsupported claim

Its a middle of the road and proven claim, proof of which is in this thread.

>proof of which is in the thread
>literally not one actual piece of proof in the thread
What did he mean by this

I'm a noob, but could you tell me if that's from The Sacrifice
if it's not, where's it from?

you have two types of people on Sup Forums, people who love capeshit and contrarians who hate anything that isn't some tarkovsky borefest.

theres no space for people in between, thats why you don't hear it talked about

i loved it personally desu

You realize you just admitted the reason the fall is never talked about is because its mediocre, right? Its pretty but lacks substance.

Do you ever get bored of shitposting?

It is one of my favorite films

>shitposts
>accuses non-shitposter of shitposting

...

The Fall is literally Зepкaлo for DCucks and Hannifags.

>isnt a borefest
>isnt capeshit
>THAT MEANS IT MEDIOCRE HUR

sorry kid, u r wrong *teleports away*

If you want to pretend that it's just a ripoff, why wouldn't you use the film it's actually based on?

Sup Forums used to obsess about this movie back in like 2010-2011.

so could someone help me with before the thread dies?

hey that's kinda cool, is there some extension/plugin for searching a file's hash in the archives? I have Sup Forums X and it doesn't seem to have that

I actually did the google search but didn't notice that one single result for Opfer

thanks btw

So I guess you all reconsidered by now and came to the conclusion this is pleb shit?
