black people raised by white parents are the absolute weirdest

>Dunkirk has been made without wartime sympathy. That’s why the Churchill speech comes off as unconvincing and sappy. Nolan’s detached style mocks the populism that relates to average-grunt, working-joe service; it continues the attitude of Nineties indie filmmakers who chose cynicism over sentiment, anti-Western subversion over jingoism.

White is not impressed

BASED black men

So he waits until there is a condenses on a movie then does a review with the opposite opinion?

His parents are black you fucking retard

No not really. His reviews always have more in them than your typical "lol I didn't understand any of the dialogue but I loved it anyways XD" Reddit Tomatoes cancer.

Just like yours

Yeah his latest review are shit since he doesn't even mention Obama

>turns it into an opportunity to say something he thinks about modern society within the first fucking paragraph
I'm getting pretty sick of this desu

Well, this review is exactly what I expected from Armond. Every single time he lazily accuses Nolan of being a nihilist even though his films are very clearly about hope.

Should learn from the cool kids and put it in the title.

>What Dunkirk can teach us about living under Trump

>it continues the attitude of Nineties indie filmmakers who chose cynicism over sentiment, anti-Western subversion over jingoism.
I haven't seen the movie. How true is this for Dunkirk?

BASED
Nolan BTFO finally

White likes Trump

It isn't, Mark Rylance's character is very patriotic and Tom Hardy's character is a savior who sacrifices himself for the greater good.

*Whites like Trump

>condenses

you mean consensus you retard?

So Almond is just being a dumb nigger?

his reviews are well written but he still just is a contrarian 90% of the time. if dunkirk had a 25% score on rotten tomatoes you all know he'd be praising it.

Yeah, he accuses every Nolan film of being nihilistic.

>Yeah, he accuses every Nolan film of being nihilistic.

Well they are. Nolan is super-cynical and nihilist, but most people don't notice because they agree with him.

Like, remember Dark Knight?

Here's a review by an actual critic.

youtube.com/watch?v=VX1VLME36Xg

Remember The Dark Knight Rises? That film was all about hope. Batman shows the world he's a hero and becomes a symbol of hope, Bruce Wayne gets the happy ending he always deserved, and Robin takes up the Batman mantle.

But at least they always have a wicked sense of humour.

like, remember when that big nigger prisoner didnt want to bomb the upright citizen ship and vice versa?
his opinions aint shit.

How the hell can you misinterpret TDK this badly? With the boat scenes Nolan was practically shouting at the audience "THERE'S GOOD IN PEOPLE! THE JOKER IS WRONG!" The ending of TDK is dark but in TDKR everything works out.

>mark "ghostbusters is good you shitlords only misogynists hate it" kermode
lel

Just got back from Valerian. Not bad, not great. Similar to the fifth element with weird looking aliens and even weirder looking eurotrash models-cum-actors.

>It’s possible that Nolan, having created an audience of Millennial pessimists, is uninterested in the fellow feeling that Ang Lee made so intimate and that Clint Eastwood’s Sully and Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge made affecting as well as spectacular. Nolan misuses the big screen the same way Paul Thomas Anderson did in The Master — as a fanboy selling tool but not for aesthetic exploration.

/ourguy/

>supports Trump
Dropped.

>like Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor (1999)
they can't even get the year right, Pearl Harbor was released in 2001 not 1999

fucking journalists

So, the best sci-fi movie of the current decade.

>meme black guy can't into patriotism

I'm sure the movie is fine, it's fucking Nolan

we have three years left, but yes

hi r/eddit cancer

>Note the civilian armada approaching their countrymen: Each face is expressionless. Is this because Nolan rejects emotion, or does patriotic fervor embarrass him?

BASED

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

>le contrarian man

Nolan confirmed wack
Only the most diehard lobotomized darkshite fangirls will deny this

The end of the film is full of patriotic celebration, he's taking a single shot and ignoring everything else.

>can't into patriotism
Did you even read his fucking review?

who's the hobo in the middle?

"You either die a hero, or live to see yourself become the villain."

That's the most cynical, nihilistic statement ever put in a superhero movie.

>Nolan misuses the big screen the same way Paul Thomas Anderson did in The Master — as a fanboy selling tool but not for aesthetic exploration.

why do people take this retard seriously? he used to be funny now he's just ridiculous

only good thing about the master was the trailer.

A single line. You're completely ignoring all of the themes of hope because of a single fucking line.

>Nolan exploits technology for effect, not to enrich history. Unlike Ang Lee’s very fine Iraq War drama, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, which used 3-D to explore the depths of brotherhood and the war’s emotional complexities, Nolan’s movie flaunts empty violence.
this guy

This is a British film about British soldiers during an event in British history. Is this dumb fuck honestly expecting them to whoop and holler at every little thing like fucking Americans?

the director

Yes, Armond wanted schmaltzy patriotism. Nolan's film is patriotic but it's very somber and avoids all of the cliches that Armond wanted so Armond hates it and thinks it's nihilistic.

hahaha pta fanbois on suicide watch

Armond is an interesting writer and can be thought provoking but he wants every film to be a clearly defined morality play that panders to his beliefs. Dunkirk isn't nihilistic at all, it just avoids the cheap sentimentalism that most war films are full of.

It is about the danger of power. Superhero should be aware of that and trust society, not only some individuals.

let's be honest even if the film was patriotic as fuck with flags waving every two minutes and parades and kids saluting armond would find another reason to hate it because it's gotten universal acclaim.

Not to mention the bad guys were OWS inserts, something that was noted by many at the time.

No, he's just being radically contrarian which is why Sup Forums likes him.

talk to us about it user. which one of his marvel reviews hurt your feelings?
