I don't know, I like the design of Smoky Quartz. The difference between Stevonnie/Smoky Quartz and Garnet/Opal/Sugilite/Sardonyx/Alexandrite is that Steven is half human. Stevonnie looks mostly human because of Connie and SQ looks mostly gem because of Amethyst. You also have to take Steven's whole look into consideration because he's a pudgy little kid. Expecting him to look like a full gem fusion is stupid.
