This is a retarded concept. How is the U.S. military, which is funded by the U.S. taxpayer, going to occupy and force tax money out of a rebellious populous when it is not even a full 0.5% of the U.S. population in a massive country? Seriously, the whole deal with that is that while yes, Vehicle and Air combined with payloads would be very effective against foreign enemies, they're liabilities against domestic incursions.
What you fail to understand is that the military is NOT a family. All those within the U.S. military (functionally) have a tie to their citizenry. examples would be
>children
>parents
>crushes
>spouses
>friends
>all of the above within three layers of separation
in which they to much direct and some indirect effect have such a strong appeal against killing/conquering this group that the majority would in fact not only refuse to kill their friend's family, and so forth, they would in fact fight to defend them.
Where the second ammendment comes into play in this big picture you don't see is that when the citizenry has the arms of the day, they are effectively as a whole unable to be conquered by their government.
This grants a certain amount of fear of the citizenry on the part of the gov't. Which is the point over your head (ref. the joke).
So the 2nd ammendment, in short, ensures that the government (most of which, being comprised of its citizenry) could not sustain itself against it's citizenry, and some of their own members.
Protection against foreign and domestic, that's their oath.
