Hello Sup Forums! African American father here. My spouse and I were wondering if there are MORE black rolemodels in cartoons or comics for our daughter to grow up with.
Not trying to racebait, but please post series or characters a minority child can look up to, so SHE can be the DIFFERENCE! God bless and remember you are special!
Your daughter doesn't need a mirror image of herself to identify with. Heroes are heroes, no matter what color they are.

Sup Forums pls go

Unless they happen to look like you, in which case, it's pandering bullshit created in order to meet some kind of quota.
Kevin Brooks
Glad you stopped by OP. Im currently developing a comic with black girls myself. I hope youll let your daughter read. She'll tell you all about it.
Dominic Jenkins
Static Shock
Brayden Jenkins
Fillmore
Eli Walker
this seems perfect for you and your spawn
Cooper Carter
No the fact they look like you is completely coincidental to the fact they're pandering bullshit created to meet a quota.
Ian Campbell
How about you and your spouse be good role models instead of letting your cartoons do the job, OP?
Connor Anderson
Kids Next Door has Numbah 5, she basically the defacto leader on a lot of missions and has enough prominence and episodes dedicated to her that show her as a strong character and good role model.
I had another in mind but I seem to have forgotten it.
Jayden Rogers
Tutenstein
Cooper Gonzalez
black women?
say no more
Noah Hernandez
It might actually be, Captain Confederacy is a propaganda piece who hates the Confederacy and has a black baby mama
Kevin Cook
>African American father here Your daughter already has an exceptional life that grants her an advantage above her peers just from this.
Jackson Foster
Because him and his spouse are boring as fuck.
Zachary Bennett
Wordgirl . There's a comic called Moon Girl and devil dinosaur that would be good for your kid.
Adrian Clark
Give her comics of "lesser" superheros or whatever. Don't let her read the main line comics from either DC or Marvel, yet. Those are just pandering garbage, ask Tumblr if you don't believe us. The "minor" comics will show your family that any race can have a part in the comic world. And have their own stories independent from the other heroes, especially ones that fit their own series and abilities.
Michael King
doc mcstuffins, dumbass
Kayden Martinez
Does Steven Universe count?
Garnet resembles and is voiced by a black woman
Easton Morgan
What the fuck would a black dad be doing posting on Sup Forums unless they were fucking weeaboos? Could you imagine it? Some black weaboo dad that married some chick because she looked vaguely like his waifu, won't shut up about the season's latest offerings to his coworkers, even the moeshit. Has a full figuarts line of dbz figures, instead of sports the fucker still goes and plays yu gi oh and Pokémon with his one or two other weeb friends his age, and just has keeps chastising his daughter for listening to the wrong kind of j pop, and every time he shows up at school to pick her up at school she's mortified because he's fucking blasting out the lucky star theme song, with his best konata cosplay on, screeching to a halt and yelling at her "get in here, we're gonna be late for evo"
All this coming from a dude that looks like uncle phil
Jack Cooper
knd has numbah 5, shes fantastic
i think kiki from steven universe is someone to look up to, and even though they technically dont have a race, some of the gems could easily fill the slots
theres a handful of dc and marvel heroes that arent rehashings or replacements for previously existing heros that are black, how good a role model any of them are is dependent on the writer
arguably val and her father from danny phantom
while everyone in atla and lok are based around asians a handful of the darker skinned characters could work out as "black" role models
im really trying to think of good role models that arent in m/r rated stories or just token characters
regardless just look through media yourself and decide what would send the messages you want your kid to hear for yourself. she'll take to whatever she likes most, and might not even care that theres "good black role models" for her to look up to. i know i personally was always more interested in monsters and other non humans in media, and would usually get bored if the focus was just on humans. a lot of the shows i recommended i liked for reasons totally unrelated to the human characters much less their appearances. unless shes obsessed with /what/ she is, its likely the characters appearances will go right over her head
Kevin Howard
It's a porn comic, isn't it.
Ayden Diaz
She's not black she's ambiguously brown numb nuts.
Jacob Russell
Nobody said that.
Gavin Reyes
Kys
Cooper Wilson

Isaiah Howard

>Sup Forums >making a comic with black girls Bullshit. This is bait.
Jayden Wood
>he thinks im kidding
Nicholas Morgan
Don't think that's as much a joke as it is an observation. I live in a minority majority area and all of my nerdy friends who are overachievers have both parents. Weird trend.
Brody Hernandez
I'm pretty sure you're just looking for waifus to jerk off to though
David Lee
OP just said black cartoon characters, he didn't say female characters.
Christopher Jenkins
If you need cartoons to be a role model for your kid then you're a failure as a parent.
Asher Russell
These.
>Letting media raise your own children
They're actually more likely to grow up fucked in the head because everything in movies/cartoons/comics is so fucking sugar-coated.
Luis King
Fucking savage! >But true
Brandon Gonzalez
I live in a "minority majority" area and most of my friends growing up had both parents. Most people that I know right now as an adult had both parents while they were growing up. My cousins father died when he was very young and he grew up just fine. Right now he's married and has a son. My brother's mother and my father never married and he turned out just fine. He's married with a son as well. My parents were married and got divorced but I still had both my parents in my life until my father died a few years ago.
Ayden Davis
The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra.
Mason Green
It doesn't hurt to see positive images that one can relate to. If the only images you see of people like yourself are negative, in the background, on the sideline or simply followers, hangers on or servants then that's not good for self image. That doesn't mean that OP is trying to abdicate his responsibilities as a parent to the television.
Owen Young
I had to think about characters: -Storm from XMen -Clawdeen from Monster High (she's a wolf, but is designed specifically to pander to black girls). -Tiana from Princess and the Frog -Green Lantern John from Justice League cartoon I'm sorry I can't think of any more. You'll probably have to turn to characters that are just good rolemodels in general:
-Twilight Sparkle from MLP FiM -Aang from Avatar The Last Airbender -Spiderman -Steven from Steven Universe
Many of these are men. Many of them are white. But each one stands as a decent rolemodel in respects to establishing an open mind and open heart for young viewers, like I presume your daughter is...regardless of race or gender.
I'm actually interested to know of some characters who pose as good role models in modern entertainment? It can be anyone, as long as they always try to do good, face a problem head first, and is responsible for their actions.
Carter Foster
>mfw it IS porn
Brandon Peterson
>Avengers Assemble Falcon is one of the smartest members of the team >Static Shock >StarGate SG-1 live action series Tielk is awesome and honorable. >Justice League 1990s. John Stewart is pure awesomeness.
Oliver Russell
>Not porn Boring.
Aiden Morris
No for the love of God do not let your daughter watch this show. Everyone in the family and even Penny's friends are complete and total cunts. The show tries to teach good morals, but ultimately just shows Penny giving into pressure from her bitchy stuck up friends. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN WATCH PROUD FAMILY. FOR THE LOVE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN WATCH THIS SHOW.
Justin Anderson
Can't appreciate shit!
Elijah Collins
With that statements, then you could have some show like "BOONDOCKS" that makes the stuck up hood obsessed black kids look positive. When in reality, it only serves to show the stereotypes and increase them.
Lucas Cox
Okay i understand styles but why the fuck does the dad look like a goddamed hat rack
Wyatt Hernandez
>ctrl+f >No Boondocks
Shame on you Sup Forums.
Dylan Miller

Fuck you, fuck your fairy faggot accent, fuck me for not remembering the whole words and not putting them in the right order, fuck the queen, this is America.
Grayson Nelson
Then the Proud Family should not be viewed because the entire show is everything you just described.
Jason Clark
What about Static, fat Albert or Filmore?
Austin Kelly
Proud family is like brace face only the main character is black and her father is a cornball.
Oliver Adams
dumbass. pretty much no matter what kind of parent you are your kids will grow up under the all-encompassing thumb of media, unless you become a helicopter, homeschooling, manage their time pick their friends parent in which case your kids are almost certainly doomed. you're all so fucking preachy here, and you clearly have no experience with raising kids or even a handle on real life. it's like listening to reddit that swears more
Dylan Hernandez
Could have been
Carson Johnson
What about Static Shock was hood obsessed? >Yes they talk about gangs, yes they talk about guns, Static was never constantly spouting raps, he was never talking about "the man". He had friends, he talked about school, he displayed work ethic and specialized skills. What about Filmore was hood obsessed? >Filmore never displayed anything remotely related to "the hood"
Lucas Richardson
I was saying what about those shows instead of something like boondocks
Blake Brown
You'd be lucky if your kid grew up to be half as based as the Wall.
Connor Morris
Filmore is number 1 Followed by Static Shock. I don't think Fat Albert is that great of a show.
David Morales
>African American father >sticking around Yeah right.
Kayden Russell
You'd be lucky if your kids grew up to be half as based as the Wall > Hopefully she'd be half the weight of the Wall too.
Carson Robinson
Speaking of, Drawn Together.
Jason Kelly
That sounds like a cool dad to me. Sign me the fuck up.
Adam Collins
>pretty much no matter what kind of parent you are your kids will grow up under the all-encompassing thumb of media
That's why you teach your kids to question things, to do their research and not take everything at face value, you dumb, ignorant fuck.
>WAHH SOCIETY IS FUCKED SO WHY BOTHER TRYING ANYMORE WAHHH
Thomas Lee
(((out of the oven))) lmao I hope this isn't intentional, that would make this situation a lot funnier
Chase Fisher
I think it is. Book even says "Really makes you think" I think Sup Forums made a comic.
Ethan Rogers
How are you on Sup Forums and defending sports. That guy you described seems like a cool dude
Easton Cook
Donkey Kong
Kayden Jackson
Is it true that Sup Forums had a nigger mod that has turned this place into a tumblr hug box?
