What did you enjoy about the show?

what did you enjoy about the show?

First series being set in fantasy 20s!Shanghai
damn the city was gorgeous.

Season 3

Fight scenes are underrated, at least to those who shittalk it and call it punch bending.

Brown, because it was gonna come up eventually, might as well get it out of the way now.

about ATLA?
Everything. Animation, characters, setting, history, etc.

about AToK?
Haven't watched that one. Should I? I've heard mixed things about it.

When it ends
I'm not joking, the credits were the part I looked forward to every episode. A tranquil few minutes after a cluster of fuck.

>Haven't watched that one. Should I? I've heard mixed things about it.
Its mostly a disappointing waste of a retardedly huge amount of potential.

Korra is frustrating. The good ideas are there, but either executed like shit or undermined by going in a really stupid direction.

I'm not gonna watch it then. Thanks, anons.

Thick in world building, Eastern spirituality, actual martial arts, and character development. LoK even brought industrialization contrasting environmentalism and executed it very well. Characters are generally hit or miss but many of them were memorable all the same.
I won't argue that LoK wasn't all it could be but "disappointing waste" or "executed like shit" is ignoring a ton of the good things it offered. I'd say the biggest flaw was 4 12 episode books instead of 3 20 episode books like TLA messed up the pacing of setting up a main villain and character arc for each main character in each arc only to have it rushed to conclusion because of the short seasons. Also book 2 was a mess of ideas.

do it, its fantastic.

most people hate it because its not ATLA 2.0 but honestly i like that they did something else.

season 1 is a little rocky and korra can be frustrating as a lead hero, but personally i like her being so flawed.

season 2 and especially 3 are stellar

overstatements Much?

>"disappointing waste" or "executed like shit" is ignoring a ton of the good things it offered
No it isn't. Those statements both acknowledge the good things it offered but also how poorly they were used.

I want a new avatar, Korra was a really boring and dissapointing mc and I could have not cared less about her problems. The villians were interesting, but Korra watered down any kind of development that could have happened.

>season 2
>stellar

Watching the fandom disappear.

I liked Korra. She ain't the problem with LoK anyway.

>she ain't the problem

>i have no rebuttal so ill just use greentext and an image, that'll show him!

>season 2 is stellar

I honestly don't know if bait or retarded.

Alright Bryke, time to go to bed.

One of his teeth has a filling. It's the little details.

She's not. Korra is by no means a bad character but the plot derailed her character arc at every turn. From the get-go she's set up as an Avatar that's a poor fit for the era she's living in which is great premise wise but they obviously didn't plan where to take her from there.

holy living shit

The porn. Anyone saying anything else is a liar.

The character is only as good as the writing. She is a major problem to her own travesties. The two biggest under-linings are probably the spirit portals. Who trades a single individual for the safety of the entire world? The ramifications even after she defeats Vaatu and Unalok are severe enough to warrant validation in sacrificing the individual for the safety of the avatar world.

She does so many stupid things, if all she ever does is stupid then the character is not smart. Even if the writers intend for her to be intelligent, their writing never shows it overtime and she gets her way by crying like a helpless female until deus ex machina Aang comes in and gives her the power to bend and go into the avatar state, or deus ex machina Jinora saves Korra from being obliterated in an unwinnable fight against Vaatu who had all the cards.

Korra continuously causes her own strife throughout the series, you cannot say she is not partly at fault for the shows failures when her actions cause the series to be seen as a WTF perspective from the viewer.

I agree. I didn't like at all the idea of them having to defend this large city or deal with the poisonous ideologies that popped up. It was too REALISTIC. The more-whimsical underdog narrative of TLA was way better.

>The character is only as good as the writing
You've got me there. But in that vain its silly to saw the show would be improved by removing her rather than fixing the actual flaws of how the story was crafted.

I never said to remove her. I agree that people give Korra lots of shit when sometimes it isn't warranted. I personally enjoyed both series but as a cis faggot I like AtLA more. If Korra had been written as a brash, bitch of a cunt in the beginning and slowly learned to improve herself and fix the problems by figuring out what to do, I wouldn't consider Korra a problem at all. I think we both agree that Korra needs fixing, i.e the writing.

i thought that was great writing. Korra was never very smart, just a very good fighter, and i think that was handled very well. in contrast to aang, who would evade and think a situation through, korra would face it head on and it would often bite her in the ass later.

Yeah, her lack of a coherent character arc was so well written.

got eim

her is your ____(you)

Season 2 doesn't exist STOP SAYING ITS REAL user

The humor. The pause and punch line style of comedy will win my heart nearly every time.

Porn of the original series with Toph and Katara was way better. 2nd series is all crappy yuri and roided out muscles. Fucking disgusting.

One problem with that is that EVERYONE else ended up being a very good fighter. Some even better despite them having no reason to be better than the person who trained since childhood in the elements and is in the prime of her life. It makes her seem less when everyone else gets a chance to shine, despite some of those shining moments being utterly pointless.

And also since she kept doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result, she comes across as insane.

Korra r34 best part.

And they didn't do shit with the setting. All that potential with triads was wasted.

It taught me not to get hype over anything ever again.

well one point shown in the show was that she was trained in the older forms of bending, everyone seemed better because they were fighting more modern and with a completely different mindset. plus Korra just didn't have the mental discipline at the beginning most of the show.

also all of her teachers were old people that fought in the fire nation war. they all fight different compared to the newer benders. But korra still sucks in comparison.

Its very, very different than the first series.

It's easy to see where a lot of the criticisms come from, but to out and out say "it's bad" isn't really here or there. I enjoyed it immensely despite its flaws, and so did a lot of other people. Some people didn't enjoy it, and that's fine too I suppose.

I'd say try it, but keep in mind that it isn't just "ATLA part 2."

Reminder that not even trying something because a few people on the Internet said "it was shit" is about the lowest a human being can sink in terms of respectability. Trying new things builds character and makes you a more well rounded person, regardless of whether you liked the thing or not.

Sup Forums talking about avatar again and failing

First show:
First 'real' story build, world build, coherant plot, episodes linking together, character build, and story finalization that felt like "Holy shit, I just read a fairy tale". And being asian themed without weeaboo as fuck cliches.

Second:
The luster and appeal of the first few episodes. 1920s era. Amazing music (true until the end), some waifu material here and there (later ruined, yes)... My fondest memory was the comiccon trailer for season 2. Felt epic as shit.

Wasnt a point of the character her basically being a prodigy and her problem was het punch ing away her problems?

She was a complett jobber that lost to everything and had to get asspulled out of it everytime.
