How do you feel about the 2000s, looking back? How does that decade compare to now?

The same

good games, better music, good movies

2000's seemed better than now.

The culture was more united and people had more nationalism, even before 9/11.

Was in middleschool and highschool. Everything seemed more carefree if not with edgy undertones. Probably just old and cynical now.

I have no desire to EVER use a computer that doesn't look like that

I always wondered why they used shitty beige cases.

Like they cook have made the pcs back then a bit better looking

All I remember from year 2001 is downloading my first black and white gore clip from where some guys neck is chopped off with a boot on the victim's neck. Sleepless nights followed

you were probably just looking out the window osama.

The War on Terror cast a shadow over everything. I will always remember it as the emo decade.

This.

I have strong XP nostalgia famalamadingdong

It was so stable & clean. Why replace it with the compiled eye-candy Jew known as Vista (then 7)?

9/11ths out of 10

> the emo decade
Sum 41 was (is?) the shit

Honestly 2000-2006 felt like a mini 90s

Yeah there was 9/11 and the whole War On Terror but compared to today, people were still more laid back due to social media and smart phones not really being around and the economy was still decent
Than in 2007 Smartphones were invented, in 2008 the economy crashed and in 2010 the Internet became more centralized and the SJWs take full throttle

Hopefully a Trump victory can bring us back

was playing heroes of might and magic 2, diablo 2, the sims 1, zeus, stronghold, populous the beginning, zoo tycoon on an old win98/xp. The computers finally died many years later because the anti virus had become so heavy. good times.

smart phones made the huge societal difference, if we could go back and nuke the phone companies it would save the species

There are performance options to make it look almost exactly like win98 (which is better in my opinion).

If I could I would go back and change virtually everything.

this millenium isnt over

>How do you feel about the 2000s

The Collapse.

2000-2008 were fuckin great. despite 9/11. 90's were based as all fuck.

literally, obama's entire presidency has turned the country to shit.

Better than today. It was like an offshot of the 90s but livable until 2007-2008.

Nowhere close to the shit of today

this

On a downward curve from the 90s.
Youth culture going off the boil.
Films were pretty good, music was dire and that hasn't changed (in fact it seems to be the same people making the same noises, there hasn't been 'new music' in a good 15 years now).
First signs of weakened resilience and toughness in young people although nothing on a scale of today's witless 'generation snowflake'.
The cancer of mobile phones began which seem to just be ruining so many of you.

the decade my brother was K.I.A, tend not to think about it

>ruining so many of you
>of you

Oh please, if you have a paying job you have to have a smartphone. I didn't want it this way either.

Internet culture was much better. Smart phones ruined the internet culture beyond repair. Once you give every 70 IQ retard and nigger access to the Internet, things will go downhill

It was the greatest generation of video games. The only time we had Nintendo, Sega, Playstation and Xbox in the same generation. The PC gaming scene continued to evolve in a good direction, too.

Entertainment industry was more prevalent and influential then. Now they just memes. But they're on more level playing fields in the meme world.

Floppy disk porn

>'90s
>Growing nation, hopefulness, hatchets buried
>2000-2007
>Like the '90s, but with more global perspective and computers/technology shifting from a tertiary quirk to the standard for business and communication
>2008-2013
>Technology has become inseparable from social, day-to-day life
>2014-present
>Regressive liberalism catches wind with mass-media like never before, binds new "social media" generation, and children are introduced to it from the cradle via tablets

Yeah but the memes got better. Abused by Facebook, but better.

>Oh please, if you have a paying job you have to have a smartphone. I didn't want it this way either.

Yes but I had a childhood and young adulthood without one. That is technology that really shouldn't be in the hands of kids. I think we can see all around us the damage its doing.

I have on for work, I use it for work and I don't like it either.

The dropping of half life 2 with the source engine really fucking stepped the game up for pc

1970-2007 was just 37 years of degeneracy acceptance. 2008+ is just the same except the degeneracy is enforced by an autocratic sjw regime

don't ever talk to me or my nokia ever again

seriously though i don't have a smartphone, but that's because my commute is really short and i'm in front of the desktop PC whenever i'm at home, i just use pay as you go SMS if i'm out

i would totally get a smartphone if i had to spend an hour on the train every day, though

Online gaming really took off due to the proliferation of broadband. I remember playing tons of Battlefield 1942 and Secret Weapons of WW2. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was also hot shit. Those were some good times.

college years for me and then five years of suck afterward

i was entering the job market just as it was crashing

>good gamez tho

will be remembered as the best part of my life

Very wise I think.
Its a digital ball and chain, a slavery contract for the mind.

pretty spot on

I'm not sure if my fondness of the early part of the decade especially was due to it being a better time, or if its just because it wasn't apparent to me that basically, I was doomed to an empty life of sub-mediocrity.

Also, bring back arena shooters please.

Don't even get me started on flight simulator. I had no idea what I was doing, but I loved every second of it

Have you tried overwatch? It's like tf2 meets smash bros

I was XP for years... but why hate on 7? 7 is the ideal Windows

it was 8 where microsoft basically was like, 'we a phone now'

are bars dying because of smartphone?

I wonder if there is going to be a backlash against our dependence on social media and "always connected" lifestyles, or if it only gets worse from here.

I'll admit I am part of the problem, but I've been trying to wean myself off of facebook. I don't know how much it's really worth though, if the rest of civilization is still inseparable from their smartphones and social media accounts.

When I was younger, people made friends online and then met in real life. Nowadays, people make friends in real life, move that friendship onto the internet, and then destroy it with vitriolic interactions on Facebook. I've seen it over and over again. Normies have no sense of internet etiquette and it's like the early 90s of BBS and IRC all over again, with a much bigger population. It truly is the eternal september.

This pic makes me want to load up halo 2.

Not up here in Oregon. If anything, the craft beer and liquor scenes are getting bigger.

Smartphone with facebook app.

FPBP

The longer you live, the more you notice stuff is just the same thing repeated over and over.

>smart phones are the devil
I know a lot of people use them for retarded bullshit but it's an incredibly useful tool in the hands of someone who lives with purpose.
