Are the powers Rogue steals conjoined? For example, if she stole Bishop and Dazzler's powers, would she be able to use Dazzler's ability to absorb sound to power her Bishop powers along with kinetic energy like Bishop? I can't remember an instance of this in the comics

Yes. It's happened at least once. During Uncanny Avengers, where, to fight a fucking Celestial, they had someone teleport Rogue around the world, borrowing the powers of ever Avenger and every X-Man.

...

I want a "Rogue kills the Marvel Universe" story just to see what she looks like with everyone's powers. I'm assuming she'd just explode and blow up the universe, seeing that's what What If's tend to do

SO FUCKING OP
I know its never really determined how long this last ( its different all the time) but fuck authors could have a field day with her.

This doesn't answer the question. None of the powers here overlap.

Wouldn't Colossus' powers turn Wolverine's bone claws metal?

They could, but then they decided to focus on Wolverine.

Colossus has Metal skin, his bones are still Boney. Wolverines Claws are Bone. So Probably not, I don't know

What would happen if Rogue absorbed the Blob's power?

yes

Nothing would move her.

what if she touched juggernaut AND blob?

Jack Kirby and Claremont reach out from the comic and smack you in the face.

...

...

...

Go away, Dobson.

...

Dobson please go and stay go

So what if she touches the toaster?

If Rogue touched Juggernaut and Blob nothing would move her,she would become invulnerable in motion and strongfat.

awful

She can't absorb magic properly

Too bad all of Gillen's plot points were fucked after he left

One day, Nylon Wave will take one of my commissions.

One day...

Inflation is somehow even shittier then people who think human blobs are sexy and I'm someone who thinks fat chicks can be hotter then people give them credit for. There are lines you should not cross.

So she would just be immovable and fat.

I can't speak for 616 but in the Ultimate universe Colossus had his heart cut out and it was covered with metal too

That was called shitty writing. They needed an excuse and so suddenly Rogue can hold multiple powers at once and recall ones she has previously gained.

What? She always could use multiple powers at the same time and there has been other points where she could recall them.

yes, mimic did it in the exiles. they were still jagged like the bone claws though

Any X-fan would have read the issue where Rogue absorbed all the New X-men (Surge's team) powers and slaughtered the Predator X while using the powers IN COMBINATION.

during the first encounter with the super sentinel Nimrod in the 80's, Rogue absorbed the powers of the knocked out X-men that were lying around to fight him.

I recall her having Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Kity's powers at the time, and she ripped off Nimrod's arm to end the fight by teleporting away with it and surviving the stress due to Colossus' endurance.

I'll have to track the issue down. It was a fun one where Juggernaut was getting owned and not actually jobbing for once - Nimrod was using a mix of ultrasonics and anti-gravity to put him down.

Yeah but the question is not if she can use multiple powers like people keep bringing up but if something like Dazzler and Bishop's powers become one thing rather then her having Dazzler powers in addition to Bishop powers. Is that clear then what I said in the OP?

Found it. It was X-men 194.

Damn. When ? I left after they found out he was on mgh or whatever. Who killed him user ?

Oh, right. That is a good question. It's a matter of using one borrowed power to directly fuel a different borrowed power. I don't recall that ever happening in normal 616 Earth settings.

The example of bishop and dazzler's powers would be sort of wonky regardless. Dazzler's main power is absorbing sound to release as coherant light. Bishop's is absorbing 'energy' (meh, any sort it seems, less kinetic) to release as amped up energy. I don't recall Bishop ever projecting Sonic blasts specifically.

Thus, I'm not seeing how they could feed into each other.

...

Now, if she combined Strong Guy and Wolverines powers, could she take on the Hulk? Strong Guy gets stronger by absorbing kinetic energy, but can only take so much because of the strain on his body. If she had that, but also Wolverine's regeneration to keep her from dying of STRENGTH OVERDOSE, she could theoretically just keep getting stronger like Hulk does.

Rogue has been shown to combine powers in novel ways

When she absorbed Cyclops & Emma Froat, Rogue could refract optic forcebeams through her diamond form tomagnify and widen the impact

Wolverine. He didn't actually die though, he somehow absorbed his heart back into himself I think

My fave factoid about Rogue is that when she absorbs Wolverine's powers she pops three claws, but as whe know from X-23(Laura) the feminine expression of Logan's mutant physiology is only two claws on the hand...
So she takes on the physical traits of a male if they're related to the powers she steals.
That's pretty F'ed up.

They had a Hulk vs X-Men miniseries during that WorldWarHulk event, she couldn't do it. But that could just have been because they wanted to write Hulk as winning that one.

I wonder what kind of stuff death is into.

Yeah, but that's a trick that Cyke and Emma have used on their own.
And when the A.I. mutation Danger was first introduced as an enemy she holo-manifested a crystal disco ball to manipulate and reflect back those optic blasts in the same way.

That's because they operated on X-23 and took one of her claws out of each hand and put it in her foot instead....

Probably death

>Bringing your work home

This is more like a porn actor having sex with whoever they're dating/married to when they just got home from work

How embarrassing

Some of them DO do just that, supposedly because sex with "Wuv" is different from paycheck sex.

X-23 had three, but some bullshit about male and female animals have differences so why not them so they took the middle one out and put it in her foot

Then why the hell doesn't the middle one grow back and Rogue can steal the foot claw? There's no reason X-23 shouldn't have a middle bone claw.

Probably because its in her foot and the changed it so it wont grow back in its orginal place. Its cape shit dont think so hard.
And maybe Rogue can steal it but what would she use it for.

That can not possibly be true, if she ever had an original third claw on each hand it wouldn't matter if it was surgically relocated.
Her healing factor would just regrow a brand-new third bone claw where it had originally been.

>because they wanted Hulk to win that one

This, this, this this this. Particularly for Rogue.

She's capable of whatever [current writer] allows, with no consistency & barely any explanation.

Xmen Legacy: a well written and emotionally charged culmination of multiple character's efforts allows Rogue to finally learn some control over her powers

Uncanny Avengers: LOL NOPE

X23 was made from a damaged genome, it spontaneously regenerated to a more stable female form.

The genetic damage is also why the claws moved

>underrated post

They do fluctuating power levels with every mutant.
Unintentionally, of course.
One of these days they're going to wise up and make that a canon part of being mutant.

Look at Magneto: he used to be a god, or Logan's healing factor's limitations: he used to be nuke-proof, or the limitations of Nightcrawler's teleportations: they've sometimes written him as able to travel miles in one bamf.

Being an immortal being, I like to imagine he's into things we haven't even considered yet.

I always liked the idea of mutants being "unstable" and part of the reason they get singled out the most when it comes to super-hate. That and things like secondary mutations would justify why people would be a bit more paranoid about some seemingly harmless kid with just a third eye from his X-gene.

Regarding the original hyothetical:

Dazzler's powers have weird limitations, she doesn't absorb sound she herself creates. That right there could maybe mess up this theory of power combination.
She does store sound energy, and release it as light energy, BUT her main power is to transform sound into light in realtime.
Bishop's powers are to absorb all forms of energy, store it, and both project it back out in bio-energy blasts AND transform it into physical strength.
However, and this is important, Bishop ALSO absorbs sound as kinetic energy. So his powers already do the thing that you want Dazzler's powerset to add.

I myself have always chalked the hate up to "othering". Just like with IRL bigotry.
Mutant's aren't human. They aren't like "us"...
They're a single-generation evolutionary leap into the next species that will eventually supplant human-kind.
Forget that it's supplanting through BECOMING, it's still a threat to the status quo.
So now there's this line being drawn. It's meaningless, your kids are still your kids, they're still people, they still feel.
But now there's this excuse to not care.
To not empathize.
To hate.
To see a threat.
To defend your species.
It's the reason to built Sentinels made to kill.

That was much more Hulk wank than anything tho. I mean he tears through Dr. Strange, a guy who literally deals with universe level threats on a daily basis, like he is nothing.

I always liked having a bit extra just so it's easier to explain why they're targeted more then someone like Luke Cage. The X-gene always came off as chaotic to me and some comics imply the X-Men are more of the "lucky ones" that aren't completed fucked over by their mutations. I understand why others hate my idea and think it moves away from the prejudice theme but it's still about paranoia. The X-Men have a habit of getting into problems that escalate even if it's not always their fault. IMO X-Men fall apart as a metaphor for racial prejudice or bigotry towards LGBT communities today in their current state and general paranoia fits better as a theme. I think it stopped working sometime around the time shit like the Phoenix started happening.

"Hulkwank" does serve a purpose though.
He is "STRONGEST ONE THERE IS !!!"
That's meaningless if there isn't an occasional Hulkwank storyline.
Characters like Colossus, The Thing, Namor, Thor, and even (this one bugs me too) The Juggernaut are stronger than any other characters in their books but when it comes to ranking the entire Marvel cast there's only one who is defined by this one aspect.
That's why The Hulk is The Hulk.

(unless he's Amadeus Cho)

Well Luke Cage catches a sweet Christmas -full of crap from the world too.
That Civil War 1 Avengers story where it's just him deciding to sit unregistered in his apartment and mind his own buisness until an army shows up to arrest him... that was the best Avengers story they had that year.
But Powerman isn't a race of people.
Spiderman is a menace, but he's just a one-man menace.
Captain America is one of "us"... unless it's Sam and some asshole in the background shouts "Not my cap!"
IronMan is a human being using technology.
And the Avengers can always be forgiven for unleashing crap like Ultron upon the world because, hey, they're only human.

That still sounds arbitrary. That's why I'd prefer if they had a clearer line.

The line is born human vs. born not human. That's it.

You can't tell by sight and mutation doesn't even hit until puberty in most cases. Mutants are just humans with some funky gene

No. Female Wolverine just has a different claw configuration than male.

All of this is no-prized and not in any comic.

user, humans share (roughly) 98% of their genetic code with chimpanzees.
Humans were much closer in relation to Neanderthals, and we don't think of them as human.
If Bigfoot walks out of the forest and says hello nobody is going to think the ten-foot tall, hairy, monster-man is just a human with one gene's difference.
It's HUMAN or it's NOT, that's far more than the lines people draw IRL to justify hatecrimes.

It's a matter of power level, not number of powers.
She can use Spider Man + Mercury + Psylocke, but she would have trouble absorbing all of Juggernaut's power.

Doesn't she have issues with magic? Juggernaut isn't the best example.

nah son

Yeah, she's done this more than a few times.

Juggernaut's also been physically changed into the giant that he is, when he lost the Crystal Gem of Cytorakk he was still walking around as this giant powerhouse with superstrength even though he didn't have that demon's magic backing him up anymore.

Last I heard they never actually found out who was stronger because Sentry emitted a "calming energy" that ... uh, calmed The Hulk. (duh)
And Hulk was off-world (thanks, Illuminatti) when Sentry went psycho and The Sentry was gone when WorldWarHulk went down.

Not only that, she can absorb their costumes.

How does that work?

(not them)
An artist doesn't do his subject research and flubs it. That's how.

Maybe she just sewed it together off panel and stole Pete's right boot.

Does that make it a weird "only used once" part of her powerset that's never addressed again?

Unstable molecules.

Maybe she magical girl'd into it with Carol's powers? I forgot if early Carol had that.

Maybe?
Storm, Thor, Phoenix, Mystique, Magik, and Starbrand can all zap costumes into existence...?

>The Sentry was gone when WorldWarHulk went down

u wot

Was he there?

Should Colossus' metal skin turn Angel's wing metal too?

If she can have carol's powers at all the times and still absorb others I don't see why taking two different powers wouldn't work

That pissed me off to, because in the first issue where she absorbed the whole team's powers (to fight Nimrod) she ended up with blue metal skin because she absorbed both Kurt and Pete's mutations.

And it's not just Metal skin, Colossus is metal all the way through. He even has metal blood when transformed. So those bone claws would have come out metal too.

And why did she absorb Angel's powers? She can already fly. All she gets out of him is eagle-eyed vision.

Choking. Ryona.

Not what OP asked

You guys do know the real in-universe canon reason for the mutant hate, yeah?

Every human has a little sentient microscopic parasite thing inside them except for people with the X-Gene.

Because it is afraid eventually mutants will become the major species (next step in evolution, etc etc) it makes everyone hate them irrationally.

This actually happened

Yeah they even fought

At the time she didn't have Carol or Simon's flying brick powers and only had her own natural mutation, so taking Warren's powers for flight makes sense

Of course she also had Nightcrawler's teleportation and both Wolverine and X-23's healing factors so she could really push the strain on her body and survive, she wouldn't need flight at all

is there a girl Starbrand

Grant Morrison's "Sublime" self-aware bacteria. Yeah, I've heard of it.

ShadowKing did the concept better. He was all humanity's negatve psychic energy coalesced and made self-aware.
And Malice wore it worst, she was a pychic energy-lifeform before she was a bacterial parasitic lifeform before she was a computer virus.
And really, after Xorneto there's only so much canon we're going to let Morrison have.
Besides, didn't Goddess-White-Phoenix Jean wipe that bacteria out of existence from history itself?

come on, he was the final boss for the Hulk

they beat each others out of their power forms

Not yet, but it's a cosmic recruit deal so it's just a matter of time before they hand the job over to someone new.
