Wait, is that fucking real? God damn, I wish I could go.

And I honestly can't remember when I first found out about Homestar. I assume is was either late middle school or early high school.

Yep.

Several mentions on Twitter too

Here's to all the people who feel old now

>how did you find out about Homestar?

G4, the video game channel. In particular the Pulse news network. They did an interview with the creators. After watching it I decided to check out the website.

My brother sat me down to watch it with when I was six.
That was 14 years ago.

>g4
Fucking kidding around, right?
Who didnt have a cheat hoodie in 7th grade?
Even if you had no friends, in 2001 that shit was the best thing online since porn

What exactly is this show about? Whenever I see the main character, I immediately think of a down syndrome kid, and I don't exactly know why.

Its homestarrunner.com just go check it out faggot

I was twelve and googled "death metal" looking for music I could feel edgy to. Instead I found Strong Bad emails

I clicked on the "first time here" thing to see what was up. I still have no idea what's going on.

The main character still reminds me of a down syndrome kid.

people used to link me a few, but the early 'sb doesnt get up or go anywhere' sbemails didnt really wow me. like so many people, Japanese Cartoon and Dragon got me hooked

That's basically it, yeah. He's a terrific athlete and a dumbass extraordinaire. if you've ever laughed at Clarence or.. Brak... then you'll laugh at this.

It was basically a web cartoon of the early 2000s that didn't try to be edgy, while still being geeky.

>twitter.com/StrongBadActual/status/761065054531760128/

>Arrow pointing at his asshole marked Oh Dear God
>Horn (not tail)

they still got it

I love how you can see so much mutual influence between them and their cartoon pals, some of whom they have worked with
there's this feeling of 'family' between space ghost, homestar, adventure time, gravity falls, and rick and morty. more like a spectrum really, but in that order.

Is it at cinematic universe levels yet?

That is the best.

I just got to school one day and my friends were quoting A Jorb Well Done at each other.

nah it's more like how all the 90s tartakovsky-mccracken shows felt related and also as part of a spectrum with a lot of the other cartoon cartoons

was that in a state where they could really appreciate his accent?

Fraid not, Southern California.

20 years old eh? is it ready to start making APPROPRIATE inappropriate peer2teen choice awards?

Friend showed me "Techno" in middle school. Shortly after, I found the other Sbemails and everything else.

Almost the same as me.
Friend showed me Dragon and I was hooked.

well that is what we call a silver lining.

My first exposure to the site was 'privileges'. I didn't know how or why there was a luchador living with a yellow block of fur answering e-mails, but I was intrigued.

So who's your favorite character? For me it's Coach Z something about the voice and the rapping it calls to me somehow. Really any character is a good favorite as long as it isn't marzipan

coach z's my favorite too, but only cause i can relate

sci fi and dn'd greg are close to my favorites, but really it's PBTC homestar. everything out of his mouth is a delight.

i think homsar was my first sbemail, then i just spent hours and hours a day on the site as a youngn middle schooler

that must have made no sense since the entire gag is 'misspelling of a character you're familiar with'

>Hustle fow Spowts

fighting
and sometimes striving
wondering what the dumple is
excellence
and what is valor?
and The Cheat will hit stuff with a golf club
C-G-N-U!

Gradual exposure via imageboards

I got in really late. I'm sure I saw some earlier stuff, but I didn't really look into it until after seeing Strongbad in Poker Night at the Inventory.

In fifth grade, I was the first of anyone to know about it. People were asking what the Trogdor drawing was.

sports and practice
sports and practice!

aw, hash potatoes!

YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TOOOOOOO
SHARE A BATHROOM
WITH THIS GUY FROM ALABAMA
WHO KIND OF SUUUUUUUCKS

THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE
IS CLOSED ON TUESDAYS
AND STEER CLEAR OF THE BEEF STROGANOF
AT THE DINING HAAAAAAALL!

I think my brother showed me fhqwhgads when I was in like fifth grade. So around 13 years ago. Was obsessed for years and years and there are so many jokes just ingrained in me where I'm not even sure which video they're from but I reference them all the time.

CGN...U

Me?

>Nintendo Power interviews Strong Bad for his Wiiware game
>this is in one of their final years where they were doing cringey Chuck Norris jokes every chance they got
>Strongbad actually refuses to answer a question about Chuck Norris because by then it was a stale internet meme, which points to the Homestar Runner people actually writing his responses
labor of love.

My cousin showed it to me, back in 2003. Kind of Cool was my first sbemail

Damn I feel old now

i don't know neither

A Web animation called "Movie of the Century" or some thing, which was a big crossover, and HS was in it for some reason.

I have no idea why, but I've always sort of associated Homestar Runner with city era Cartoon Network.

city era?

This.
youtube.com/watch?v=r_1G0iWgGis

Probably late 2001/early 2002; older sister showed me, and I assume she learned it from one of her friends.

It still kills me that the PBTC voices were Mike's actual attempts at the character's voices.

yeah i guess it fits in with that era
but moreso with the older era when the kinda shit they had was 2 stupid dogs and cartoon planet. it didn't exist yet at the time, except as drawings, but that's the era it really FEELS Like to me. that kinda humor.

I love how CN has never been afraid to do a bunch of crossover shit with shows that were destined to last for years RIGHT alongside ones that were clearly flash-in-the-pans from the start.

>i can relate
I'm gonna g-
I'm gonna get in there and MIX IT UP

literally one of the greatest albums of all time. The Cheat is Not Dead goat Homestar Runner original song

I first heard about it when they were making the Telltale series for Wiiware. I played through all of them and watched almost everything they had on the site before losing interest when they eventually went on hiatus.

But man, what the hell is it with all the 20th anniversaries of stuff from my childhood this year? Pokemon had it's 20th in february, Yugioh will at the end of September, and a few days after that will be my own 20th birthday (Yes the only I things I knew to list are Japanese kids shit, wanna fight about it?). Was 1996 just the year of shit happening or is the universe deliberately trying to make me feel old?

About to order in all the parts for this, but I'm wondering, are there any glaring inaccuracies visually? Outside of things like color I mean.

it was a hell of a year
3 years from now a lot more cool shit will have its 20th anniversary.

Like what?

eh. the struts should be just straight pieces, but this looks about as close as you could ask for blue face man store

iunno. stuff. don't make me remember years.

>To celebrate, how did you find out about Homestar?

Through Joe Cartoon in 2000. There was some big ass crossover amongst a bunch of popular flash cartoon sites that I found out about because of JC. HR was one of them. After seeing its contribution to the cross-over, I watched the intro video where SB says, "You may not know it but I'm the reason that you're here!" This lead to me watching the e-mails.

My brother sat me down to watch it with when I was six.
That was 14 years ago.

top quality brother.

My older sister used to watch it on the family computer.

shit i heard nintendo had some neat add-ons for that sucker in japan but i didnt know it could play flash videos

come on fhqhgads
i see you jackin me

tryina play like

>middle school
>friend starts talking about trogdor
>lotsa kids talk about trogdor
>look it up first thing after school

u know me?

I still use "jockin' me" or "jockin' you" in that sense to this day. I'm not sure anyone else does.

>SBASAF tried to pull a Gunbuster in order to make a million dollars
>with paper money, no less

I just realized how great that is.

TROGDOOOOOOOOORRRR!!!

I've known about homestar since about 2006 but I've never actually watched any of it save for a few Strongbad Emails. Does it actually hold up? Is it something worth watching, almost eight years after it stopped updating?

help me out, is this another one of those subtly accidentally brilliant things, like 'caffeine' involving Sanka?

foist of all, it never stopped updating. not really. and if it did, it wasn't 8 years ago. it was at most like 6.
secondly holy shit, how did you only watch a few? that's like only eating a few Italian-herb-chipotle-buffalo-ranch-guacamole-Thai-peanut-style chippety-chomps
go watch them all, dude. go watch all of it. in order. hrwiki.org/wiki/All_Toons
play all the games too

>They're both basically in their 40s now
