Am I the only one that can't stand the lord of the rings movies? I'm not a fan of the books either, but the movies just don't strike any emotional chord with me.

I can't imagine you're the only one who didn't. I love the movies, but I'm a bigger fan of The Appendices.

The appeal of the movies is entirely subjective. I read the books as a kid and built that world in my head so seeing it come to life on screen was visceral and transcendent.

Yeah you're the only person on this planet who doesn't like them.

Based Viggo, he is too good for this world. These movies are worth watching just for him.

No explosions, no pussy, muh multiculturalism, it's SJW propaganda for faggots.

Tolkien should have been hung for treason against the crown. Jackson needs an ISIS reality check to his severed head. LOTS fans are pedophile suspects.

I understand. These movies are really corny. Jackson did his best to balance hollywood corniness against the existing lore, and he consistently fell on the cheesy side. I think watching these movies as a kid is the reason they strike a chord with me personally.

There are plenty of fags in the world like you.

See:

...

>Tolkien has become a monster, devoured by his own popularity and absorbed by the absurdity of our time," Christopher Tolkien observes sadly. "The chasm between the beauty and seriousness of the work, and what it has become, has gone too far for me. Such commercialisation has reduced the esthetic and philosophical impact of this creation to nothing. There is only one solution for me: turning my head away."

i loved them and i never read the books.

i didnt think that far into it dude, theyre just fantasy movies. The arguement could be made that the overarching theme was everyone is happier and better off with their own people in their own communitites and foreign invaders should be slaughtered.

Or that too much centralized power (the rings) is an absolute bad and should be kept in check much likoe the way many people foeel about the EU or the Federal government

both of those are conservative ideas and are all over the movies. But again, there are elements of everything because its a fantasy setting.

>Says the retard who sold everything he could so he wouldn't have to work instead of just riding his dads coattails the same as the fucking Dune kid.
Chris is a monumental faggot.

chrissy boy is a crybaby faggot because he didnt get any of the trilogy bux.

>There is only one solution for me: turning my head away.

The must butthurt line I've ever read.

Non-white detected

I liked the first movie but did not care for the others. There is no tension in any of the battles after the first film. The characters just quip to one another and the good guys stand no chance each time until deus ex machina saves them at the end.

I did like SOME of the scenes between Sam and Frodo, though.

Despite not really like the films I did feel satisfied with the ending.

I want to see Viggo in so much more. Everything that you hear about him just paints him as a really nice dude.

Watch Captain Fantastic. It's a really good movie.

Fuck off taxboy

damn

Cry me a fucking river, your dad wrote the greatest fantasy book of all time and you get to log a life of wealth his creations generated. Go fuck yourself you butthurt pretentious twat.

>visceral and transcendent
Op is certainly not alone but you might be if that's how you describe the lotr flicks

It's a good idea that got hollywoodized. Still worth watching though.

Well yeah you are not white. It wasn't made for you.

It's a film about white heroes, white culture and white mythos. It's not going to resonance with people like you like it does for us.

I'm white and I hated it despite loving the books. I think it has more to do with fans watching it and getting used to the taste of shit as impressionable 14yos

>I'm white and I hated it

Sure you are friendo.

Sure you are.

He and Jake Gyllenhal are instant sells for me. I don't think either have ever been in a bad movie.

and isn't he a special little snowflake

You are allowed to not like thing

I do like thing though

The last hour or so of ROTK fucks me up real bad, tears everytime.

It's definitely not for everyone though, particularly females.

ITT: films non-whites and all women will never understand

This guy literally disowned his son because his son liked the LOTR films baka

>muh multiculturalism
It's a film about different fantasy converted Europeans killing brown foreigners invading their lands in NotEurope.map
