>when you make someone quit Sup Forums

Bump

What should I watch for my #1500 movie seen?

Science Crazed!!!!!!!!!!!!

See it in IMAX or not at all!

I saw it. It was trash.

*points at you* YOU are trash.

not at all, thanks

...

But did you see it in IMAX?!?!

Name 1 (one) time Harry Styles wasn't a jerk
Name 1 (one) time Tom Hardy said a coherent sentence
Name 1 (one) time the Useful Sir kid was useful
Name 1 (one) time Kenneth Branagh didn't stand on the dock
Name 1 (one) time a plane survived

Saw it in 70 mm. I've noticed that Sup Forums spoke more about 70 mm than they did for Interstellar or The Master so I guess we're making progress on this God forsaken board.

*tips*

Literally cried watching this

Why do these threads die so fast? I thought letterboxd was cool on Sup Forums

>Gran Torino on any list except one composed of bad movies

Back to Sup Forums with you.

15%

I'm not from Sup Forums, so how would I go back there? What does that have to do with thinking Gran Torino is a terrible movie, anyways? I don't hold this view because of political reasons. Eastwood is an artless director who critics have been bamboozled into believing he's anything but that. Pretty silly, if you ask me.

invite me to

Ah, I see now that the list if full of a lot of Clint Eastwood, Tony Scott and things like Superbad, so it's one of those head-scratchers. The first few entries, with things like Miami Vice and Road to Nowhere initially fooled me that it was sane.

I've seen 21, by the way.

What is so bad about Eastwood and T. Scott?

Eastwood's movies are illustrated scripts and have none of the vibrancy and use of formal qualities of the medium to convey meaning that you find in Mann compositions and editing, for example. I've actually only seen one Tony Scott movie, more than 20 years ago, so I probably shouldn't comment on him.

>I kinda want to punch people comparing [La La Land] to Demy in the face

user? forgot about me? ;_;

>so I probably shouldn't comment on him.
you shouldn't

The one I saw was True Romance and that was because of Tarantino. I've tried to watch others but turned them off within minutes. There didn't seem to be anything interesting going on.

Who even

letterboxd.com/machill54/

Henry Silva rules so much
I'll be sad when he dies

why

I would go back and perhaps reconsider them, particularly the later ones, if you're interest is form as your previous posts seem to convey, I think they'd be interesting. Then again, I could be wrong.

letterboxd.com/OriginalName3/

because he rules so much

...

what's the twist?

why

hey, what do you mean by this?

He doesn't, machill54 is lying.

Just kidding.

he is an insanely badass action star who does not suffer fools gladly

in not one but two of the films I watched tonight he took off his belt and hit a woman with it.

pre-emptive RIP from me

letterboxd.com/shao_liu_ringon/

That Hungarian adaptation of It happened in broad daylight is one of the stronger ones I felt, cuts back on exposition and maudlinisms to deliver all atmosphere, I also liked the Tarr influences.

I enjoyed To sleep so as to dream for being an affectionate/heartful love letter to silent cinema and Judex and Nuit Rouges are the kind of pulpy trash I can never get enough of.

Going to watch 100 more films then take a break at around 4000.

Wow 4k already? I remember when you were around 2400.

Yet despite that I still haven't seen much Ackerman beyond Jeanne Dielmann and Almayers Folly.
I've only seen Orphans and Birth of a nation by Griffith and one Rivette film, never looked into Mekas, Brackage or Benning.
I don't watch nearly enough documentaries either.

letterboxd.com/voodoostones/

why

Might see hound of love tomorrow.
Letters from Iwo Jima, Most terrible time in my life, I don't want to sleep alone are being considered next.

unbased

I like all of those you mentioned very much. Which Rivette did you see?

Celine and Julie, but only some, no rating yet for it due to that, wasn't in the mood for it at the time, some reviewer had it listed as some French version of Daisies.
Many of his films are not widely available apparently and the ones that are are crazy long . Secret defense is one I want to check out.

Gylenhaal tells crew mate to go on escape pod that heads for Earth, while he sacrifices himself by steering into deep space. You find out that the two head in the opposite directions and that Gylenhaal accidentally brought an alien to 'Nam.

both good, though not my favorites. watch la belle noiseuse. i ended up liking it way more than i expected and went back to it often since. divertimento is very good too but not as coherent. some alternate shots i favor. entirely different impact.
