Steven Universe is not an action show. It's a sample book of pastel tones.

Video link?

I think even Dexter's Lab had better action scenes than SU.

Gumball is a scripted show
Steven Universe is story board only

That makes a huge difference in action quality

Did they ever actually end up getting Trigger to animate this?

>Action show
>Steven
Pick one.

Nobody really thinks SU is an "action show" do they? Isn't it more of like....a kids show that just has action in it

Even MLP has better action in it desu the rare times it does, but I don't consider SU an action show, it's just part of the modern trend of combining action, comedy, slice of life, drama, etc all into one thing rather than being a show dedicated to a single genre

Nope. Studio 4°C

it cant be an action show because it has shit for action, it cant be a comedy show because it has shit for comedy, it cant be a drama show because it has shit for comedy, so what is Steven universe exactly?

>Which school taught you? Was it Hokuto? Was it Konoha? Or was it... Mr. Miyagi?

Slice of life famalam.

It can be all those things, it just fails at them
The way I see it the modern landscape of kids cartoons created by two shows...Adventure Time and MLP FIM, every show seems to want to gain a cult following like either one by combining some sort of whimsy and something that appeals to an older audience

>it's just part of the modern trend of combining action, comedy, slice of life, drama, etc all into one thing rather than being a show dedicated to a single genre
You mean the modern case of trying to do everything in a half-ass manner and failing at all of them?

The comedy has no punch or wit to it. At most, it's smile-worthy.
The action is beyond terrible.
The songs are mostly terrible. It's more sing-talking than actual singing.
The drama is so fast-paced and crammed into an 11-minute format.
And the aliens lore are more interesting than Steven's slice-of-life.

The only reason this show got as popular as it did is because of lesbians.

Will there be a stream for today's episode?

I certainly do not like Steven Universe and agree with most of what you said, but at the same time I also hated Adventure Time, Regular Show, or anything else that feels dated to the 2010s to me because I'm in my late 20s and started my hate the youth thing early

However, as harsh as I am on the show sometimes and as much as I utterly loathe the fact that somebody would use a kids show so blatantly as a platform to promote their alternative sexuality, I do understand it has some appeal with some audience just not me....like I'd watch SU over say My Gym Partner Is a Monkey if I really had to

Why am I typing all of this? Idk

are you kidding?
Thats way better than anything on the Incredibles

>2016
>action shows
You're funny, OP

its shit at that too
basically the jack of all trades, master of none

BAITUS MAXIMUS

They had to hire gooks to make an action scene that looked decent while still being weeb shit.

>yelling is funny the show
Don't act like gum ball is some flawless masterpiece. Also that fight was animated poorly, though I guess that's what they were going for copying anime.

post webms already

>oh noez tey r making fun of mai fave cartoon :((

>it's another ((((anime reference)))) episode

western animation is truly artistically and creatively bankrupt

Wow I can totally tell you're unbiased in your shit opinion.

>children's cartoons are truly artistically and creatively bankrupt
Was this news to anyone?

Anime sucks, we like making fun of it
Much like in real life, the kids who still watch cartoons into their teen years are dorks....the anime fans are looked at with the same contempt as autists or columbine shooters, you're beneath us spergo

youtu.be/H0Sy6GJAQto
This is... Pretty bad. It neither had me engaged in the fight nor did it make me laugh.

And yet it's still better animated and more engaging than any other CN show.

That was okay. A lot of the flash cuts at the beginning sort of took me out of it. There was very little "flow".
Really it just seemed like a generic anime fight.

Please, Clarence is more engaging and original than this.

>Really it just seemed like a generic anime fight.
I think that was the point.

that's not bad for what it is, but for a fight scene it goes from having no weight at all to too much weight.

Clarence is alright, but it's nowhere near as well animated as this.

>b-b-b-but its da animoo!

why is that cloud mom so hot?

I guess that's why this show is only popular thanks to the fan made anime parody and the trap-porn related to it

Post youtube link of the action you dummy

>white
>latina voice
>rich
>legs for days
>strong
>latex
>skin is probably super soft
>luscious dick sucking lips
>heels

what am I missing here?

This board's mentality is of a 12 year old, huh?

>Well animated
>Whole fight plays out at about 5fps

What the fuck does well animated even mean to you people anymore?

So we're just like them

It's just these threads. I was hoping this would be a Gumball thread but that's not why the OP made it.

>people think this is badly animated
It has smears and everything. It's pretty much better than a lot of modern anime, sadly

>Gumball is a scripted show
>Steven Universe is story board only
what's the difference?

I think you have that the wrong way around. Watching anime is a pretty normal thing among young adults. The ones who watch cartoons are the ones seen as manchildren.

youtube.com/watch?v=wOKo97KEAcU

I wouldn't consider SU action, but often times comedy based cartoons have amazing actions scenes when they are doing it for a gag. Like they go above and beyond with there action just for the purpose of making a gag of your favorite animu

No they're looked at the same way. Except people call them weeaboos not manchildren

What japanese studio did the work on that scene?

>Was it Hokuto

SU is like the generic action anime, short sequences of dramatic tension following an ongoing serious plot- paced by the interspersion of lighter, slice of life segments. If you don't think this is true then you probably haven't watch the show

Studio 4C

>This is... Pretty bad
Are your eyes really that bad?

Yeah, it's SoL, but the drama can be pretty good.

>"action" show Steven Universe
Where do people get this idea? Steven Universe is a fantasy/sci-fi coming of age series.

Not really.

Cringe to be honest

Yeah, that's pretty poorly animated, actually.

I agree that this scene wasn't especially good, but more frames per second being better isn't true. As long as a cut can convey motion and weight well, it being animated on the 1s, 2s, or 3s doesn't matter

SU's storyboard make the show's production team more focused on what looks right, and dialogue & script follow.

Gumball's scripts let the team focus on pacing, dialogue, and plot, and graphics and look follow.

>the kids who still watch cartoons into their teen years are dorks
are you from 2005? Do you still believe only nerds know who captain America is, that kids are the only ones that care about COD and Counter Strike or man children are the only people who know what a Pokemon is? Nerd culture is mainstream, where you like it or not, otherwise we would still have pandering to niche markets in the west.

One has actual writers and the other doesn't.

How much of an autistic neckbeard do you need to be to shitpost about the same children's cartoon every single day.

>The only reason this show got as popular as it did is because of lesbians
The entire thing of this show is "come for the lesbians, stay for the plot". It's cheesy and melodramatic, but at it tells an interesting story, which more than you can say for stuff like Adventure Time and its one hundred storylines.

>I guess that's why this show is only popular thanks to the fan made anime parody and the trap-porn related to it
Lovely. It's popular because it has witty writing
and it's the most cartoonish thing CN currently has. Those who like only the porn and the anime parody won't even bother to watch the show.

What did you expect from a major anime studio doing a quick commission for an underrappreciated Cartoon Network show? It's still nice to look at, the QUALITY is kind of an added value, and the fun was in getting to see Nicole doing cool stuff in anime style.

Steven Universe is very lax with how the crew is coordinated. Just compare Rebecca's "I simplified the characters so the crew can draw them how they like" philosophy against stuff like My Life as a Teenage Robot, where Renzetti wrote a shitton of sketches and guidelines on how to draw and pose the characters.

>Nerd culture is mainstream
Of course it is, after they made it safe and marketable for the mainstream audience.

Boy what a enriching thread.

The fuck is happening and why is it amazing?

I just saw it.

The action scene isn't even that good, OP. It's a great homage but it did it by being flashy to distract from the lack of actual animation just like all the shonen it's referencing.

The Dragonball homage was way better and those were still images.

Was this animation done a studio other than the show's creators?

>talking weird on purpose
>mouth flap jokes

Well it was almost good

Anime art style

>nicole is barefoot

Steven Universe is a shit animal documentary series. It's beyond me why anyone likes it.
Attenborough 4 Life

>this is what considered funny in America

DUDE ANIME FIGHTS LMAO

>And yet it's still better animated and more engaging than any other CN show
This meme again. Holy shit, the worst Otaku is a brainless Otaku.

ART STYLE DOESN'T EQUAL ANIMATION!!!!

>fast paced
>milf
>that moonlight shading
>explosions
>screen shake
>environment getting destroyed
>doing flips and twist and shit

>pretty bad

>>fast paced
Compared to something like this
youtube.com/watch?v=_Es3L9i8TfU

This scene could have been done better, and more well executed.

I think he meant gumball as a whole which is a reasonable thing to say (still a opinion though)

You realize that Trigger has the money to do this kind of thing right? How much money do you think they were seriously willing to sink into a fight that lasted only a few minutes?

The worst thing is that this is what the show's creator wanted, he even asked Trigger to animate the scene before 4°C (and you can still see the original inspiration in the rainbow sparkles)

aye yo look son, this shit pretty tight, a bit cringey and pokes fun at japanese anime but fuck, that scene was rather impressive.

im usually elitist when it cones to my cartoons but that shit was pretty cool.

>talking weird on purpose
They're matching actual anime dubbing.

>mouth flap jokes
That's just how anime lip sync is done.

>Really it just seemed like a generic anime fight.
Are you fucking retarded. Holy shit.

>Eh, I didn't like Family Guy: Blue Harvest. It looked like they just ripped a lot of stuff off of Star Wars, y'know?

>anime catgirl Watterson

For all of 2 minutes, Bravo Gumball!

ok look, im going to make it easy and make it official ok guys? Sup Forums loves this scene.

there. how did i cone to this conclusion? Because I enjoyed it. And whatever I enjoy, usually Sup Forums enjoys too.

Its official, this fight scene was cool and ALL of Sup Forums thought so too. All others who dislike it are haters a d posers and do not, I REPEAT, DO NOT belong on Sup Forums.

meh, the teaser we got from the bomb looked a lot better, and it's way too long, they could've done something so much better that lasted maybe 30 seconds or a minute

This is a cool reference but the "lel this kids comedy show has the best animation from all CN" argument can't be used for this scene, not in the slightest, the animation wasn't that good overall

and she had good looking bare feet.

let me refer to you to this post k thx bye. shoo shoo poser.

shoo shoo!

Why is my dick so hard?

There are no action shows on modern Cartoon Network.

Because you're not a bitchy nitpicker like a big part of this thread's posters and can still enjoy the simple things of life

Didn't they hire someone else to do this tho? like, if SU hired an entire studio to make an action scene i don't think /co would even be happy with that and go HURR DUUR THEY CANT DO IT THEMSELVES SO THEY HAVE TO BUY THEIR WAY OUT ISHYGIDITY

for a kids cartoon where the characters burst into singing every 2-3 episodes i think the few "action" scenes it has are decent enough

youtube.com/watch?v=_ddLpHci8hY

Steven Universe's action scenes are storyboarded so lazily it's almost an insult to the medium. Every shot is static. Nothing feels like it has impact. It'd be akin to making a comic and having every panel be the same square panel repeated. Sure, you can fill the square with whatever you want, and it services dialogue fine, but the second you start doing action it looks like a goddamn trainwreck.

It has a lot more slice of life than the average anime, though. Take KlK for example, it has a shit load of action, and the few breaks it has to pace the show feel necessary because of there being so much action in the first place. The breaks in SU less like breaks and more like stretches of unnecessary filler.

I want to fuck Gumball's mom even more

why'd Yuki sound like she have more of a hispanic accent?

She's Japanese...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naoko_Mori

Why is she always wearing a poor man's gay pride badge?

She works at the Rainbow Factory, it's work attire.

Yeah we get it, i thought it was a lot funnier the fist ten times it was done
