So here's what we've decided so far. Jasper most likely suffers from depression and self hatred. We've come to this possible conclusion because there's an unusual coincidence of her doing the very things she accuses of weak, and worthless gems of doing. She believes that gems only get the treatment they deserve, and based on the fact that up till this point she has led herself to suffer that she believes her own suffering is deserved from her failures. What's made worse is that she believes she's the perfect soldier, which give her no excuse, in her mind, for losing all these battles.
What she probably needs is someone to love her, like a pet or something. Her entire redemption arc will be about her training dogs. This is the outcome.

Well first she'd need someone who understands her. She'd be very defensive, hiding her anger, insecurity, and sadness with a guise of confidence, narcissism, and arrogance. None of the other gems have really been through her kind of life, besides maybe eyeball. Soldier's only tend to consider soldier's as equals. Unfortunately, Steven doesn't have anyone like that on his team.

Out of all the people she could fuse with, I think Steven or Amethyst (or perhaps Steven and Amethyst) would do her the most good. They're Quartzes like her, but tiny, defective ones. Fusing with them would let her take on some of their traits for a short time (being semi-human, for one) and help her understand.
Plus Steven expressed sympathy for her (wanting to heal her corruption) and Amethyst expressed empathy ("come here, sis"). They'd be willing to help her understand, I think.
And maybe coming to know Steven better in particular would help her recover from Pink Diamond's death.
