THE ORIGINAL "BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN"

In 2003, Warner Bros Pictures greenlit BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, directed by Wolfgang Petersen and tentatively starring Josh Hartnett as Superman and Christian Bale as Batman.

Andrew Kevin Walker and Akiva Goldsman wrote the script. The question is... Would it have been better than what we ultimately got, Sup Forums?

>In Metropolis, Superman captures a group of terrorists planning to blow up a landmark, but prevents the crowd from lynching them. On their way to Stryker's Island, the group's leader escapes by detonating a Kryptonite bomb, and Superman collects a sample to determine its source, as he had been under the belief he had destroyed all fragments of it in the past.

>Superman then goes to Gotham City to attend the wedding of his old friend Bruce Wayne to Elizabeth Miller, a wealthy philantrophist whom Bruce met after abandoning the identity of Batman. Five years prior, the Joker murdered Robin, and Batman nearly killed him in retaliation, before the Joker brought his own demise by blowing up his hideout, only to be engulfed in the explosion. In the following years, both Alfred Pennyworth and Commissioner James Gordon passed away as well, inspiring Gordon's daughter, Barbara Gordon, to abandon the identity of Batgirl to follow into her father's footsteps and become a detective for the Gotham City Police Department. Bruce and Barbara had a relationship in the past, and although they still have lingering feelings for eachother, she blesses his union with Elizabeth.

>Bruce comforts Clark over his recent divorce with Lois Lane, who is unwilling to share him with the world any longer, after which Bruce and Elizabeth leave for their honeymoon in Kune. Their happiness is cut short when Elizabeth is shot with a poisoned dart laced with the Joker's laughing toxin, which gives her a heart attack. Bruce calls out for Clark, but he's too late for save Elizabeth. After her funeral in Gotham, a grief-stricken Bruce retreats to Wayne Manor and refuses to speak to Clark or Barbara.

>Bruce and Barbara had a relationship in the past

So no, it wouldn't have been.

Anything's better than Snyder.

>Bruce comforts Clark over his recent divorce with Lois Lane, who is unwilling to share him with the world any longer
Yeah that would have been a thousand times worse then anything we have gotten in the DCEU.
Thank you Christ Lois hasn't been a irrational idiotic hysterical bitch in these movies.
And shit bags like to claim Snyder hates women when he gave us the best Lois lane ever besides Tas.

>Clark blames himself for Elizabeth's death and, noticing his erractic behavior, his boss Perry White gives him an extended vacation. Clark then returns to his hometown in Smallville, Kansas, to use the board computer of the spaceship that brought him to Earth to analyze the Kryptonite samples. His adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, are long dead, and while visiting their old farm, he runs into his childhood sweetheart, Lana Lang, who is now the local doctor and is aware of his secret identity. The two rekindle their relationship, and Clark considers not making the same mistake again and leaving Superman behind to stay by her side, but Smallville is then nearly destroyed by a tornado which he unravels, proving that Superman will always be needed.

>In Gotham, Bruce is consumed by revenge and becomes Batman once again to find Elizabeth's killer. Aided by a cutting-edge artificial intelligence modeled after Alfred, he locates Winslow "Toyman" Schott, a weapons maker previously associated with the Joker, to find out who had recently acquired laughing toxin, only to learn that it was the Joker himself, who has returned from the dead. Bruce refuses to accept it, and Schott is likewise killed by a poisoned dart before he can reveal more. Bruce unearths the Joker's grave to find it empty, just as Superman arrives, urging him not to succumb to his demons. Batman assures Superman not even him will stand between him and revenge.

>The sample analysis indicates that the Kryptonite has artifically produced by LexCorp. Superman then visits Luthor at Stryker's Island, where he's been detained for three years, after detonating a Kryptonite bomb in Earth's atmosphere in a misguided attempt to kill Superman. Luthor reveals that, after his arrest, he was conscripted by the United States government to synthetize Kryptonite for the Achilles Heel, a secret government program to create Kryptonite-based weaponry to neutralize Superman should he become a threat.

this thread again...ugh

>Luthor theorizes someone within the program has been selling it in the black market, and Superman departs, unaware that Batman had monitored the entire conversation by hacking into Stryker's Island's camera feeds.

>The Joker makes his return public by attacking the GCPD headquarters with his superhuman henchmen and stealing the defunct Batsignal, dragging it through the streets of Gotham to lure Batman into a confrontation. Batman arrives to confront him, leading to a vicious chase in which numerous innocents are injured. Batman, however, is more concerned with catching the Joker than minimizing damage. The Joker escapes after revealing himself to the the terrorist whom Superman had earlier captured.

>Superman confronts Batman once again, pointing out his recklessness is endangering innocent lives, and he will not allow Batman to continue down that path. Batman directly blames Superman for Elizabeth's death by unwittingly sparing the Joker's life, and makes clear he's willing to kill Superman if he gets in the way. Batman later breaks into the Achilles Heel facility and steals Kryptonite, whereas Superman visits Lana in Smallville and tells her he must leave again. She promises to wait for him for as long as necessary. Meanwhile, Luthor escapes from Stryker's Island.

>The Joker calls out Batman to a final confrontation in Metropolis, using the Batsignal to lure him to the clock tower. Superman arrives to detain Batman before things spiral out of control, but Batman attacks him with Kryptonite-based weapons include a Kryptonite-lined armor, and a vicious battle erupts between the two. After numerous failed attempts to disable Batman peacefully, Superman destroys his armor with heat vision, then leaves to absorb more sunlight to recoup his strenghts, only for Batman to shoot him with a Kryptonite arrow while his back is turned, but abstains himself from finishing Superman off.

>While Superman recovers, Batman makes it to the clock tower and attacks the Joker, but is overpowered due to his numerous injuries and badly beaten by the Joker's men. The Joker then reveals that he knows Batman's secret identity, and that Elizabeth was an actress on his payroll, masquerading as Bruce's ideal woman only to be killed, sending him on a revenge-fueled rampage in anticipation that Superman would try to stop him, and Batman, blinded by rage, would use his resources to kill Superman. The Joker further names Lex Luthor as his benefactor, who revived him after he was severely injured in the explosion five years prior.

>As the Joker prepares to kill Batman, Superman arrives and, although weakened, helps Batman overpower the Joker and his men. Batman then prepares to kill the Joker, but Superman urges him to remove his mask and do it as Bruce Wayne, rather than lie to himself that another part of himself is making that decision. Bruce realizes he's losing himself and spares the Joker, calling Barbara to arrest him.

>Just then, Luthor arrives in a combat exoskeleton stolen from Achilles Heel and pushes the Joker off of the rooftop for failing him. He details how he deduced Batman's secret identity and attempted to use him to kill Superman, but has decided to do it himself. Superman and Batman work together to battle Luthor, and manage to critically damage his suit, leaving him powerless, and detain him.

>Barbara arrives and arrests Luthor, who is sent back to Stryker's Island. She comforts Bruce and is happy to see that he has overcome his demons. She then reveals that, despite their efforts, the Joker's body hasn't been found yet. Batman knows that the Joker survived the fall and vows to find him and bring him to justice. Superman assures him that he won't do it alone, and the two reaffirm their friendship and depart to rebuild the damage their fight has caused.

WB was a mistake.

Teri Hatcher and Erica Durance are miles ahead, bro.

Erica Durance maybe.
Hatcher was a ditzy incompetent bimbo.

Aside from these really, REALLY BAD things this movie is similar to DoJ but I think it 's way worse. There's some neat stuff but damn.

Then you didn't read OP

I hate Snyder, but this is a fucking mess.

>an actress on his payroll, masquerading as Bruce's ideal woman only to be killed

Why the fuck would anybody take that job?

I'm so fucking happy this movie didn't happen.

>A.I Aflred
>No Gordon
>Bullshit OC to be Batman's love interest when there are several people they could have used instead
>Clark and Lois are divorced?
>Relationship between Barbara and Bruce (looking at you Bruce Timm)

Really happy this didn't make it to film.

Crazy people. That's literally the Joker's schtick.

>and Christian Bale as Batman
Oh, please.

This plot is violently incoherent, stupidly mundane, and unconcerned with its source material. It's written by people who don't care for people who don't care.

Shit on BvS all you want, but this doesn't remotely compare. Fucking hell.

>would it have been better than what we got, Sup Forums
Wrong board, OP

Just goes to show,

if you think something is really bad, just imagine how horribly worse it could've been.

>This plot is violently incoherent, stupidly mundane, and unconcerned with its source material. It's written by people who don't care for people who don't care.

So, BvS.

...

>Apathetic Superman who wants to quit
>Murderous Batman being a dick
>Quippy Lex Luthor pulling an incoherently long con
>CGI-heavy villain awkwardly emerges in the third act so the heroes have something to punch
>Starting out at the end of everything and skipping out on the actually interesting stuff
>Piss-poor adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns

I see no difference from what we actually got.

It would have more money combining two movies
also truth in advertising.

So glad that was was NOT made! It may not be perfect, which would have never happened anyway, but it is waaaay better than that description of total fail.
