Goth was a reconstructionalist movement following Punk in Europe. Emo is a direct evolution of a style of Punk from the US. The two have completely different origins and musical styles.

I hate shitty characters made to copy our subculture, that don't actually have any real indicators of actually being in our subculture. Good riddance.
I barely tolerate most of them. I only tolerate the South Park ones cause they're obviously satire, from a non-goth's perspective, with some light research.
