>What is National Socialism? National Socialism subscribed to theories of racial hierarchy and Social Darwinism, identifying Germans as part of an Aryan or Nordic master race. It aimed to overcome social divisions and create a homogenous society, or "people's community" (Volksgemeinschaft) based on national unity. The National Socialists aimed to unite all Germans living in historically German territory. The term "National Socialism" arose out of attempts to create a nationalist redefinition of "socialism", as an alternative to both international socialism and free market capitalism. National Socialism rejected the Marxist concept of class struggle, opposed cosmopolitan internationalism, and sought to defend the private property and privatey owned businesses of Aryans.
So it is nationalist, in principle capitalist (private property and businesses), with elements of socialism (taking care of the people you live with) and somewhat isolationist. National Socialism aims to take care of your own people the best it can. German national socialism was only for Germans and aimed to improve both the individual and the collective aspects of a German society. It aimed to create hard working individuals as well as support healthy long-term trends for society as a whole. Sports programs and education were massively state funded, and you've all heard of the wonderous military and scientific advancements made in National Socialist Germany (and later perpetuated by National Socialist scientists in the USA). The nationalist character was non-negotiable: only members of the Volksgemeinschaft had a right to be supported by others. Foreigners were unable to exploit the hospitality, resources and high living standards which Germans had created for themselves.

Hey. Serious question: Why do most people like national socialism? I mean do they generally like the political ideology, or is it more about getting a certain set of results, and natsoc just happens to lead to those results.

I believe that National Socialism these days is equated by most people to "Hitler and Nazi Germany" and in extension "The Holocaust". There has been so much brainwashing going on that I can barely think of a person who can rationally look at the ideology itself and not immediately have thoughts about an impending Holocaust and a terrible war.
I believe the National Socialists on this board and on other chans have adopted national socialism for its ideology - which inevitably has certain results, like little to no foreigners in your own country. The personality cult surrounding Hitler is understandable, because he was the founding father of it, basically the Jesus of National Socialism. Edgy skinheads, or dumb neo-nazis probably worship him just to be edgy, or because they think "worshipping Hitler is the most extreme stance I can take against foreigners". The more intellectual National Socialists will glorify him for his deeds and ideas. American National Socialists might idolize Lincoln Rockwell or Dr. William Pierce instead, because of their American brand of National Socialism.
So it's pretty individual I believe. Personally, I like National Socialism as a political ideology (independent of the historical association with WWII), because I believe it to be a very healthy ideology. Healthy in terms of being in accord with human nature. We humans are indeed individuals, but a highly individualized society doesn't make us happy. We do need community, people we can trust, and usually those people are the people with common interests. Historically, those have been the family, the clan, the village, the kingdom, the race. Multicultural societies are failing because we just cannot trust strangers who are completely alien to both our cultural life and out physical appearance. We need people who are similar to us, and the nation is a good basis for that; hence NATIONAL Socialism.

I think that a unified Germany under the leadership of one Führer was a good idea. In order to create a real "Volksgemeinschaft", it is necessary to stress the commonality of the people living in it. Having Länder adds some special identity, which could have been a cause for inter-german conflict. Look at Austria and Germany now: both are essentially the same people and we speak essentially the same language, yet both keep their distance and seem to have no willingness to unite. Hitler wanted to unite all German peoples under one banner, and I think getting rid of the Länder as autonomous entities was a step in the right direction, provided that the centralized government under the Führer cared equally for the needs of Germans from all the Länder. And that was his goal. Hitler wanted to unite Germans of all classes and regions as Germans, not as Swabians and Bavarians etc. I don't believe he wanted to rob them of their regional identities, he realized that the Germans under his rule still had distinct customs and abilities, but it was his goal to unify them in mind and instill in them a sense of duty to all other Germans.
The need for separation usually occurs only when a certain region feels mistreated and believes it will fare better autonomously.
OP I don't see why rights should be awarded on a basis of culture. people looking after their own is a great idea in my opinion ( I like the socialist part) but what I consider my own isn't really a matter of my language custom or race it's more a matter of ideology. To me it makes more sense to call an asian my comrade if he believes we ought to ensure a certain quality of life for one another than a white man who grew up next to me and is simply indifferent to the struggles of others.

This seems to be a recurring issue throughout history. People want autonomy, and this wish for autonomy becomes stronger the more neglected they feel. It is impossible to govern a great empire from a central throne alone. Every kingdom and every empire has had a hierarchy of leadership, simply to be able to organize local groups more efficiently and solve their local problems quickly and efficiently.
The organization of the military is a good example for what the organization of the German Reich wanted to look like: hierarchical, authoritarian. Autonomy played a subordinate role as long as people were happy with being ruled properly.
The Nuremberg trials characterized the structure of the German Reich quite well (and in English, too!). It concluded that the whole apparatus was extremely authoritarian, but based on trust and duty, which made it possible that only a few leading figures were truly aware of what was happening at the end of WWII.
This type of authoritarian state worked quite well, because it was nationalist, meaning very ethnically pure. Germans could trust other Germans (unless they were Jews, fearing prosecution, of course), and Germans had generally little reason to fuck over another German.

Now this is the thing that bothers me about national socialism and don't get me wrong I can see a national socialist state existing alongside my own brand of community in an ideal world provided they're in a state of non-aggression. I just think that the same level of national pride and good will toward your fellow german/ american, whatever. Could potentially and ideally be expanded to encompass all man. It needs to be taken seriously as a mass cultural movement though by all involved parties. Just as bavarian and austrian came strongly under a german banner all mankind could come under one banner. The qualifier for citizenship in this society would not be one of birth right but of ideological consensus to look after one another. This just seems a far more sensible way to organize utilizing everyone who believes and will support in the cause of good will toward your fellow man.

The differences between races are quite severe, and I believe that unity can only be accomplished among ethnically very similar people. There's something going on in our brains unconsciously that makes us trust people who are similar to us. Who look, think, talk, act similarly to the way we do.
A Harvard study by Robert Putnam has found that trust levels sink dramatically in a multicultural society, simply because it is multicultural.
Think back to historic times: Would you want to unite with a tribe that is completely different from yours? For what purpose? What does the other tribe bring to the table? Why would you trust them? Especially when yours is white and the others is brown? Would you still trust that other tribe if they demanded to fuck your women, but refused to hand over theirs, because it is their culture and they don't want to adapt yours?
National pride and good will toward each other aren't just functions of the worldview that you choose to have, they are instead rooted deeply inside your genetics, and for good reason: namely survival. Unity becomes increasingly unattractive when the parties to be unified are increasingly different from each other.

I understand our instincts as animals lead us to act a certain way but as intelligent beings we can choose our friends based on common interest and shared goals. If anything we should be trying to be beat primal, irrational instincts out of ourselves with a stick not reinforce them. Overcoming this sense of tribal selfishness is something that needs to be done on everyones side, if it's not being done the individual is not ideologically similar to us thus we can discard them as being without use to the regime on that basis. It sorts itself out on that basis, plus there's the added bonus of excluding anyone who happens to be of your group but is in fact trying to fuck you and his fellow man over.

I think what most people take issue with is actually the anti semitism and rejection of democracy that's common in natsoc organizations today. Democracy can be hijacked by the media, who serve as opinion makers in the interests of the people financing them. Also, the political parties have to feign conflict with each other and in the nation. Only different people can vote for different parties, so differences are to be encouraged. Parties become something that exists only to serve itself. A machine that runs only in order to fuel itself.
