wasnt this publisbed here by Dark Horse
...
Not first and that was the B&W version
Look at the credits page.
This is the one with added Color and was flipped.
38 single issues.
...
FUCK YEAH OP
Epic Comics doesn't get nearly enough credit for everything they accomplished. They were doing both quality manga localizations and creator-owned comics over a decade before it was cool.
...
...
It is very true
The best version of Airtight Garage came out of there too.
It is also rare that it happens but some of the scene work better in this version for me.
Oliff's colors are also SO GOOD in this book
Oh, cool so I can love this without being a weeb.
My Dh books are flipped as well.
...
>friends want to go out
>now i see this
the first time i read akira i forced myself to slow down i was devouring it so fast i felt i was missing stuff
...
That is a trick, I thought that too but I realized it is I am not trusting my eyes and brain and not accustomed to comics that flow quite so perfectly.
I think all the NA releases of the comics up until very recently have been flipped
never read the original
should I read this one first
...
>not accustomed to comics that flow quite so perfectly.
yeah, it's insane how good it is at that. just a constant sense of propulsion
Doesn't really matter
...
...
...
Read this one. The only changes for the most part are being flipped for western markets and the addition of colors and the colorist did a great job here to the point that I actually prefer this version to the B/W one (you could argue translation accuracy if you want to get anal about it, but I never noticed anything that detracts from the comic).

Here's a neat little interview with Steve Oliff about coloring Akira and working with Otomo.
youtube.com
And some color guides, which I find interesting.

Wot. I'll definitely read for these at least.
The backups are also the dumbest stuff
>when you've read it all and the first page is the stream
overwhelming desu
Yeah, My Nausicca HCs are not flipped and the sound fx from earlier editions are replaced by moonrunes.
I'm dyslexic with SEVERE right-left confusion so it fucks me up.
Probably won't be getting there today because
38 issues
60+ pages an issue
= Lots of threads on this board
...
...
No problem
...
taking your word for it mate
Also goddamn there's something about the art that's just gorgeous. The artist has a terrific sense of depth.
by the way, do you know if there's an Epic comics compilation around somewhere, I've been reading about some interesting stuff published by it
...
not a fan of added color usually- but this is beautifully done.
...
...
Should we tell Sup Forums about this?
I know that 90% of them are pricks but still.
...
i love how when you color otomo´s artwork right, it starts looking like an euro comic by humanoides assoc.
...
always loved this scene in the animation
They're already here, trolling.
Oh yeah and Jo Duffy did some work on the adaptation but that credit is vague.
...
In still haven't forgiven them for rioting over the F/a/mily Guy thread.
is there an omnibus of this color edition?
...
You are funny user
There are 38 single issues
And Trades from at the time
And then NOTHING
A collection of all 38 will run you a good chunk of change in 2016
...
I have the first issue of this, and the DH books. Did this go to the end?
...
All the way
Plus added art and commissioned stories
>hurt me
fucking kek
...
...
That would make a good banner.
Should I post the backmatter and recap pages?
I have only read this and Nausicca when it comes to Sup Forums stuff.
Kaneda is my favorite fictional character of all time in any medium.
I miss you Archie Goodwin.
...
Sure I guess
...
where can I download them
...
I got em out of a torrent
I guess I could throw them on mediafire as I go
...
...
link pls
Kat link all gone
...
you kidding
...
Holy shit, the coloring in this really is fantastic.
Am I kidding that kickasstorrents got taken down?
Holy shit, I just realized my dad had this!
>REEEEEEE
...
...
She's such a 10/10 cutie in the manga.
...
...
...
...
...
I wish this could happen to more manga.
Can you picture reading something like DBZ or Jojo with this level of color quality?
...
I have heard good things about the coloring on those volumes of DBZ
But I like Toriyama in B&W his clean lines are so fluid without color.
Oh shit an Akira storytime.
