post bash street. Freddie fear is pretty bad apart from fap-bait

...

I remember when this first came out as part of a series of one-shots, can't for the life of me remember the others though.

...

This is pretty unfunny. Even by newspaper comic standards.

>That swimsuit

>one way ticket to Scarborough
Did uncle Jimmy invite him to stay?

it's for children. Having said that I don't remember liking Freddie Fear when I was a kid so I have no idea who it was for

That's all for now, I still have over twice many more to scan.

That's a main motivation.

I appreciate the thought none the less.

Yea they aren't great. But at the same time as I'm doing this I'm separating all the Mike Pearse Bash street stuff I can find. So legit funny comics are on there way when this is done.

But I need to go to actual work now. Toodles.

I don't think people read it for the jokes.

>Freddie Fear thread blessed by mega-Satan

Fuck yeah, Mike Pearce, literally the only Beano artist who's still trying! Got anything by Hunt Emerson stuff? Little Plum or Ratz stuff preferably?

>His mum summoning spell appears to be set on 'arrive naked' by default
Dating pool not work out for her, I take it.

Witnessed.

I enjoyed Freddie because he wasn't the typical Beano character who wanted to be rambunctious and kick the shit out of Softies.
He was more of a typical out of this depth character who always tried to make the best of a situation.
...I just realized, there need to be a Rick and Morty version of these two NOW!

It's a joke on this cookery show which was around at the time.

But your idea is both funnier and sexier.

>If you don't have a rubber, use the boy's behind

Nice gets.

This strip is full of innuendos.

Freddie's mum is rather curvier than most other Beano mothers that I remember, although these strips are after my time.

Didn't Ivy the Terrible's mum break away from the Olive Oyl standard too? Were there any others or are my memories hazy?

Why do I get the feeling this guy just created this strip to give him an excuse to draw curvy witches? Not that I'm complaining.

Cuddles and Dimples had the best milf

someone from the thread last night said they remember an issue if the dandy witha full page of the mum in the shower covered in bubbles

We need to find it

Can't remember the date, but the cover had Chief O'Reilly from Banana-Man on it saying "Warning this comic is loaded...with laffs".

There was also annual where the bath is filled with tadpoles and frogs which forces her to run out wearing only a towel.

Is that Megg's mother before the heroin?

No, this was Megg's mother.

Megg, Mogg and Owl TV series when? Adult Swim should jump on that shit

I remember that too! Sticks in your head when your a young kid

Repostin'

Gonna have a go at drawfagging myself, she has a relatively simple design and it gives me an excuse to test out my tablet.

please do

>the monster helping Freddie to his seat
>the alien

Aww, they're so sweet!

Promise to deliver later but have work now, you gents try to keep the thread alive for scanner bro too. I dunno just, discuss more Bong comics or something. Were you a Beano or a Dandy kid? Favourite characters? What era did you read them during and what do you think of the newer comics?

I wonder where all my Beanos are at. I got them for years, even after I stopped finding them the slightest bit amusing.

I'm sure the writers for most of the strips didn't understand kids. All these years later I'm still puzzling over what "honk of guff" was supposed to mean.

>honk of guff
Without the exact context, I'm going to guess that means a smelly fart or some other repellant odour.

But yeah, there was probably a long standing collection of slang terms still lingering around the offices.

I kind of feel like I never experienced the Beano at it's height. Might have to blog a bit for this one:

I'm from the states originally (1st gen) and used to go to the UK every summer, which was when I'd get my copies of the Beano - but that was already in the 00's. My English s/o always says "it was so much better," but I'm older than him by a year so I don't really know what he's referring to unless he had read older issues. Now I live over here all the time and with the retcon I'm actually pretty curious to pick the Beano up again - I like what they've done with Dennis' parents.

Also, never in my life have I heard anyone say "oo-er" or "cor," in what part of England is that a thing? Not that I can imagine kids saying it, anyway. I only ever hear it in Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, and out loud on a Beano cartoon VHS my uncle had.

I also want to ask about the Beano's origins. There's so much stuff about the Beano around Dundee, but I thought the comics were English. Did they start up there and move? Were the original Dennis the Menace artists Scottish? And in modern day Beano, are the comic artists all around the UK and submit their comics from wherever they are digitally, or is there still a studio/base where everyone collaborates? It's a little confusing.

Wonderful

Looking great.

Perfection
NSFW version w-when?

The "oo-er" and "cor" are northen sayings for a while back. Like, its something the generation before the ones reading would say as kids. But it was also part of the comic's charm so they kept it.

Beano kid all the way. Used to be given 20p to ride down to the gas station and pick one up when I was 10. Real nostalgic time for me.

Recently moved house and had to sell all my comics save for the few I remembered fondly.

The publishers DC Thompson are based in Dundee, but the comics went out all over the UK. The heyday of UK kids comics was the 60's to 80's when there was so much more variety around. Newsstand comics started to peter out in the 90's, when kids publications tended towards magazines bagged with free gifts.

I don't think moden children would say "oo-er" and "cor" any more, but I think they're more likely to be working class or northern slang, holdovers from the olden days.

I don't know if there is a central studio as such, but certainly many of the artists are spread out all over the UK. Hunt Emerson and Laura Howell, for example, are from the Midlands.

For your historical education, Lew Stringer has a blog which takes a look at many older British comics:

That's fucking awesome

I just remembered where my love of MILFs came from

The Beano and Dandy are both made by DC Thomson, which is a comics publisher based in Dundee. The Bash Street Kids were actually based on a school directly opposite their studios.

They've literally existed since the 19th Century, and have produced comic type stuff for boys since the 1920s. They used to have proper studios in Dundee, but so far as I know all the stuff they do now is sent over the internet.

There's an interesting interview with Hunt Emerson on the "Make It Then Tell Everyone" where he talks about working for the Beano, and how it's basically been going downhill since the 80s.

Dandy for me, top of my head Desperate Dan, Cuddles and Dimples, and Space Raoul and My own Genie, both by Jamie Smart were among my favourites, killed me to see the comic get the axe.

>boob mole

Guess we know where her witchy wart is now, huh?

I'm not into tits that big but I love your lines!

Looks awesome! Can you do a lewd one of her in latex, please?

This is the exact reason why I've had this thread open the entire time.

I wonder who the kids father is?

Witches were known as "Brides of Satan"

That's pretty metal

Quick trace job

...

...This isn't the Beano I remember. I would have known this was around.

Well you BTFO'd me before I could deliver m8.
>finally learned to draw on paper without scratchy lines
>switch to tablet and literally cannot draw without scratchy lines
Seriously, tablets, how do they fucking work?

Tablets require you to be a lot quicker and smoother than on paper. Practise, practise, practise.

Cruelest strip in The Beano's history.

wtf
