Was Korra actually a likable character or was she just an irresponsible woman-child?

Was Korra actually a likable character or was she just an irresponsible woman-child?

Irresponsible women-children are likable to today's audiences, so...

>today's audience
So, third-wave feminists?

I mean, yeah

I would totally eat her shit but... I dislike her attitude

>irresponsible woman-child
A leg beard?

>I would totally eat her shit
ewwww

>so...
If you can't formulate a complete thought, then why bother posting at all? How lazy do you have to be?

>2000+16
>not eating shit
Faggot

how was korra a good role model? she was a complete fucking brat who cried when she didn't get everything she wanted

>Taught to do nothing but punch things REALLY GOOD
>Has no problem solving skills that do not involve punching things
>Had no training in thinking for herself
>Is easily led on by the flimsiest excuses
>Probably the youngest avatar ever identified
>Has never had an identity besides being the Avatar
>An identity which is regularly threatened by all her opponents

I'd say she's perfectly justified in being shit at existing.

That's not how third wave feminism works.

Do you understand how basic English works?

this
aang showed real emotions when confronted that he is the avatar

I was going to post something along the lines of this, how would one define a woman-child without being "bigoted"?

>atleast she tried the character

>/r9k/ the character: gender bent edition

She had big tits. That counts for something I guess

no it doesn't

She was a lesbian.

lol okay kid

Irresponsible child with a hothead attitude who once she fails at something/ realizes she isn't a perfect avatar has a breakdown. She also happens to be stuck in a hot body.

Girls like her are a pain, but easy to manipulate. Just caress their ego and validate them and their ideas when they think everyone is against them. Then when they fail and have a breakdown you basically have your own personal slut. The only downside is the level 10 clinginess and when you dump it you have a psycho bitch on your hands.

This. Kek. Underrated post.

Bryke are just soooo progressive and innovative for having them turn lesb at the last second right?

I guess Sato mobiles are Subarus and Asami gets mouth/throat cancer. Kek.

Nope. Just makes her a useless slut basically. But then again that's all Sup Forums cares about soooo...

How could they have fixed Korra?

Giver her the ability to learn.

Kek. That'd be great.

>Still fails major battles that involve direct combat.
At least let the character not suck in the one thing she's good at.

Allow her to actually grow. She was supposed to be learning patience in season 1 but she both goes "I should go and fight Amon single handedly because I have a gut feeling." and Airbending is just dropped in her lap without her ever learning the philosophy.

Come the next season, she's even worse, threatening a judge in open court and then trying to shove his head in naga's mouth. Aang didn't like fighting but he could still be good at it when he needed to.

She was a teen girl who was told all her life that she was special shit
Of course she was an unlikeable cunt
Aang spent his life training to be a monk, so he had some moments of maturity interspersed with his being a kid
Korra was coddled from a young age and never told to sit down, shut the fuck up, and listen while other people were talking

Korra was given plenty of training I. Body and mind. She only cared about punching. They fucked up by hiding her from the republic city. She really was just a dog for the government or Tenzin.
>1st ep someone literally calls her a F.O.B (fresh off the Boat)
>She can't relate to the people's struggle, only what Tenzin tells her.

it's a girl that behaves like a macho man except with all of the bitchiness and love for drama that people despise in women

what do you think

The protagonist for Avatar went from 'fun-loving peaceful monk who is forced to go against his ideals in order to restore balance to the world' to 'WOO I'M THE AVATAR FIGHTING IS COOL TAKE THIS CISMALES #FEMINISM'

You're messed up, man.

I liked Mako and Bolin more they should have been the focus with the avatar as a supporting character.

I liked Korra well enough, and I don't just mean her figure. She wasn't the perfect protagonist by any means, but she was consistently written and she tried.

You people try to hard to hate this show.

No I'm not. If there was a broken women-child like Korra in your vicinity like at work or on campus and who also happened to be smoking hot, you wouldn't do the same? I've only done it like 3 times too so it's not like I have a problem.

She was 50000% less likeable or relatable than Aang

wow dude your a badass
hoow many chicks have u bonerized it must be a lot

No only 3. I've stopped since university. I'm no Chad by any means and now I'm just focusing on studying.

dude dont be modest youre basically a sex god and really ccool also

No. This is a sex god.

This. Bitch still gets her shit pushed in against people she should easily be putting down.

Kek. At least aang would usually win in his big fights.

They made her incapable of understanding anything besides being a twat.

She started out as both, because we all assumed she'd grow out of being an irresponsible woman-child, but that's a perfectly fine place for a character to /start/.

Except that Zuko (for example) grew out of being an angst-driven raging asshole, for the most part. He was still recognisable, but the worst parts of his personality were tempered.

Korra never went through the same process, because her setting rewarded the worst parts of her personality and ignored the potentially better parts. So she just got worse and worse, entirely believably.

if korra was a male character he would be regarded as a horribly written macho retard

She was deliberately unlikeable at first but developed throughout the series. It's up to you whether that development was executed well or not (there were certainly some missteps), though a disturbing number of Sup Forums seemed to have missed that there was any change at all.

Go to bed little kid. It's late.

I think as long as said male avatar wasn't a whiney bitch than he'd be leagues more likeable than koooora.

This. Zuko changed for the best and matured greatly through the show. Probably one of the reasons why he's the most liked character.

and how they did his path of redemption, and discovery was top notch for a kids show

Yup. Zuzu was bestzu for a reason.

I think they tried a bit too hard too make her the opposite of Aang and it resulted in her being an obnoxious impulsive hardheaded and kinda annoying.

>kinda

Give them a fixed ammount of seasons to work with and a bit less stupid shit put on screen

Grown men who watch childrens cartoons and know they don't have a chance in heaven with a grown woman

It's true

>women-children

Usagi from Sailor Moon was likeable. Bee from Pee and Poopycrap and what Korra turned out to be, not so much.

This.

...

>was she just an irresponsible woman-child?
Yes, but I liked her anyway; most of the time at least.

She was a fine character with real flaws. Her biggest problem was her own creators were terrible at making use of her.

Aang was the worst character in his own show, Korra was the best in hers.

Though to clarify, Aang was a good character himself it's just that his series had an incredible group of secondary characters, whereas most of Korra's leave a lot to be desired.

Irresponsible woman-child.

His character arc and redemption was one of the finest in western animation.

>woman-child
that's literally what a teenager is

She was a pretty horrible person.

>BUT!
>IM THE AVATAR DEAL WITH IT
>DEAL WITH IT
>DEAL
>WITH
>IT

Her character is really hard to like after watching a whole show about the journey of mastering all the elements and then her just being a toddler and spewing out all of them. It took them a really long time to wind up to situations where things seemed as dire as they did by the end of the first episode of the original show. Like, I don't think it was bad but it is a bad sequel.

>irresponsible woman-child

This. Also, hideously incompetent.

>Was Korra actually a likable character
She was less likable than most fictional characters that were made to be thoroughly unlikable.

while i completely agree with the cards there being 'false gods', i think the alternatives can be just as bad if done wrong

Dimensional can be used as an excuse for convolution, and 'fascinating' and 'compelling' can easily be used to legitimize Mary Sues, and are by no means substitutes for a character that is relatable or understandable.

Understandable should replace Sympathetic, and relatable is fine as long as it isn't used to legitimize ruining characters by conforming them to other people's notions of proper or ethical behavior or appearance (ie change a character's race because it'd be more 'relatable').

Blame the writers.

She was a straight rip-off of Captain Walker from the Spec Ops: The Line video game.

I didn't like how much of a thug she was.

I immediately quit on her when she roughed up that judge who went down from giving her father the death sentence to life in prison. Seriously, he got off easy on a crime he was guilty of, she had no reason to react that way.

I was happy when Mako told her to fuck off in the next episode.

However, she did become more likeable in Books 3 and 4.

By the way, captcha, a mailbox isn't a street sign.

No she doesn't.

I don't know if I'm just spoiled by porn, but those breasts are just decent at best. They're not big in the least. Hell, I've had female friends irl with bigger titties. Don't get why Sup Forums thinks they're ginormous.

Any new Korra abs art?

The cards themselves are notes by Aaron Ehasz, the lead writer on AtLA, on how to write a great character. It's extremely apparent that Bryke could not function without the guy.

Korra's what happens when you have form over function
They decided the main character being female before fleshing out any story for her.
They set up a steam punk like setting because it was cool rather than formulate a plot
Hell the plot they went with was executed around the idea of "greatest threat to the Avatar" rather than using the framing device before which was to focus on the hero's personal journey.

I don't care they had only 13 episodes to start
They got 38 back to back at once to do as they please with and the made 2 shit seasons for it that made season 1 look like high quality and the one decent one has proven to be near forgettable.

This series and TLAB told me was Bryan can do ok world building but can not make story himself.

>Hell the plot they went with was executed around the idea of "greatest threat to the Avatar" rather than using the framing device before which was to focus on the hero's personal journey.

Season 1: The anti Avatar
Season 2: The Dark Avatar bwhahaha
Season 3: anarchists
Season 4: Mecha

People don't understand the diffrance between inch measurements and cup measurements.
Korra has some perky bits which can lead to a great sweater puppies look but you are correct and she is likely a C cup at best with a measurement of 34.

I recently binged AtLA and LoK back to back and noticed that Korra and Zuko have a lot in common,

Both started out as hot headed and impetuous teenagers that struck first and didn't think things through, driven to achieve their birthright

through much failure and hardship, temporarily rejecting their birthright before finally accepting and embracing it, and ample advice from an old mentor, both grew to be more level headed and patient individuals, eventually working towards ushering in a new era of peace for the world

>tl:dr Korra is literally Zuko

Nigga literally what?

Hell they are both even primarily firebenders,

Main difference is...zuko was more appealing as a character than korra was, season 4 of korra started and I didn't even register that 20 minutes had passed without us seeing the MAIN CHARACTER because she wasn't as interesting as the other characters being shown,

If korra had been written like she was for the last 5 or so episodes of the series for the ENTIRE series it would have been great, self assured and confident, but still wary of her foes, not too cocky

She was a stupid meathead until the end, except she was also gun-shy in S4, which made her even more ineffective.

Korra had fucking terrible booking. Bryke decided to make up a new threat every season, and the only way they could think of to hype up the new villain was by kicking Korra's ass.

You know what would've been funny? Amon "Proving" he's not a waterbender.

>"Seriously, I can prove I'm not, Here's a big tub of water, look at me not bending it at all."

Hey look, someone on Sup Forums projecting.
Never seen that before.

hey dont drag me into this i aint ever even watched korra

I HAVE HAD SEX WITH A NUMERICAL QUANTITY OF GIRLS I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW.

I'd like to put a baby on that woman

the only thing worse than a man-child is a woman-child. i only watched the 1st season, but she's intolerable.

Make it Berserk, leave her broken at the end of The Eclipse

I personally hated her, she acted like a bitch a lot and I couldn't stand her arrogance. This is coming from a guy that liked every show he ever watched.

Every seasons
Every fucking season she was a huge stubborn tool that always made thing worse but some how in the last few episodes she would save the day by McGuffin powers short of season 3 where things go as they should

Korra was very unlikable in the first two seasons.
Got better afterwards.

The problem with Korra is that writers just decided "Well, she's flawed" and left it this way. Perfect characters might be boring, but a flawed character that keeps succeeding by authorial fiat like there's nothing wrong with her is much worse.

The repeating digits agree

The thing that makes me mad about Korra is the fact they undersold how powerful Korra is. I mean, she knew how to bend three elements, by herself, when she was four.
I actually like her as a character though. Her changed should have started to happen at the end of book 1 when she lost all her bending.

I wish netflix would get the rights to avatar and give Korra a proper send off that isn't shoehorned with lesbians.
