Didn't know I was that fast. I am training myself to be a professional writer though. Could probably push it faster.

Does anyone have those pics that show the refugee kids and how staged the pictures are? trying to turn a few family members anti-refugee.

How's the olympics looking are the chinks gonna catch us?

Scotland isn't in the OECD because Scotland isn't an independent country.

While Scotland undoubtedly has a higher deficit than the UK as a whole, any mechanism for calculating Scotland's notional deficit within the UK is a poor argument against independence (as it rests on the assumption that policies remain the same, which is silly: there'd be little point seeking independence just to continue on the same policies for more than a short period of transition.)

>inb4 Scottish/Scottish Nationalist
Nope. English nationalist. Since Scots primarily identify as Scottish and not British (even if they politically voted to be British in 2014.) my gut feeling is that they should leave and that the UK should reform itself to increase nationalist sentiment further. (Particularly as immigrants tend to identify as British, not English)

See pic related for why I've an innate distrust of economic arguments either way. On the kind of timescales that nations operate on it's impossible to make good economic predictions.

They're out of the wrestling, they can't win. Even if they somehow get gold in the marathon running, pro tip: they can't. They can't pass us as we have more silvers.

Aylan Kurdi before being moved by the Turkish official to make him more photogenic.

Imagine a country that isn’t very successful, but wants to boost its image in the world. Its economy is rocky, its cities grubby and run-down. Its education system isn’t much good.

So this country spends huge sums of scarce money and great effort to find young men and women who can win medals in international sporting competitions. It carefully chooses sports where the competition is weak. It relentlessly drives the chosen athletes. And it works. At home and abroad, its image is transformed.

Its national media go into hysterics over each medal.

Very British though mate, have you played We Happy Few?

It's from Peter Hitchens' Mail on Sunday column.

He's talking about East Germany.

>bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-37148332

>"Dr Chrissie Tizzard, who lives opposite the school, said she saw "plumes and plumes of black smoke towering above the house, rather like an apocalypse".

Is anyone still willing to argue seriously that we haven't all slipped into a coma dream in the brain of Chris Morris?

That sounds nothing like Britain

>there'd be little point seeking independence just to continue on the same policies for more than a short period of transition.)

That's bollocks considering they've been bitching about tax powers for years and they've had them for 2 years now and not changed anything

>Peter Hitchens' Mail on Sunday
Knowing ole Petey he's probably trying to draw some similarities between Britain and East Germany.

>graph is of if Scotland went independant where they would stand
Which is worked out by making a lot of assumptions about the nature of an independent Scotland.

Which for all it matters have almost no bearing on reality because there's no actual independent Scotland to use for reference.

>lies
While I can see full well why someone would lie about being English, I'm afraid I'm not doing it in this case. I take interest in Scottish affairs because they can offer some lessons on how to develop an English nationalist movement that could achieve similar electoral success (One that would benefit from the fact English people have actually had to experience mass-migration, thus making it more politically tenable to talk of restricting it.)

The Scottish parliament has had income tax powers since it was created. Even with recent tweaking, income tax remains politically suicidal to touch. (See: Scottish Labour.), and if memory is right they did fuck around with some of their other taxes like Stamp Duty. (Piddly little thing, but hey: Politically easy touch.)

But the Scottish nationalist movement is headed by massive cucks.

Will China be ultra butthurt if we beat them at the Olympics?

will they be petty enough to let it have a political backlash in some way?

>tfw the only games your friends play anymore is Overwatch and Leagues
I miss the old days.

No. I meant devolution max, which means the Scottish Parliament now collects all taxes earned in Scotland and decides how they're spent. They haven't changed levels of taxation since devolution max, which was the exact reason why devo max was agreed, because the SNP were desperate to raise taxes to cover their huge deficit they're running.

They'll be fucking pissed, but it won't have any direct political effects. That would completely fuck them over in the eyes of the international community. It'd be like Argentina embargoing the UK because we beat them in football.

I read a BBC article that analysed a load of chinese news websites and apparently they're pretty butthurt.
The French seem more mad tho.

Remember when you were young user, and you used to bring your PS1 remote and memory card over to a friends house?

Australia sent 424
Britain sent 373

Are there any events today were china could overtake us? we're only beating them by 1 gold

>mfw people on /r/europe start talking about "per capita" to make themselves feel better

This Scottish 'dream' is fucking stupid. The Scots should wake up and smell the truth before it's too late; the SNP hardly has any fucking policies that are written in stone because they want support from left and right. I've met SNP supporters who are further right than UKIP and further left than the Greens, the only thing they agree on is that things should be better, and both sides seem to think that independence will give them that. In reality it would be more like the son of a rich family dreaming to move out of the family manor into a council estate.

>Right up the ARRis!

Also did you realise there's a Refugee Olympic team?

Scots are a bunch of Socialist yahoos

give them total financial independence

Sorry lad.
>tfw really feel like downloading an emulator and playing it now.

They'll need to win two more golds than we win today to overtake us. I'd wager against it, but won't guarantee it.

Tbh, the Olympics is kind of rigged for America.

We could beat them though; we just need to get really good swimmers to beat them at their own game.

R8 FAGGITS

Electorally successful cucks.

Learning the lessons of how they displaced Labour as a dominant regional force isn't the same thing as outright copypasting that into a policy agenda elsewhere. If things were that simple and the situations so similar then then it's highly unlikely we'd have nations at all.

It provides a useful point of reference, even if the situation doesn't carry across 1:1.

Scotland does not currently have devolution max.
Devolution max = all taxes raised in Scotland stay in Scotland, Scotland cuts the UK a cheque for defence and embassies and such, and gets no block grant. (Barnett calculates block grant size, but in this case is de-facto abolished as said grant is 0. Also, all oil revenue stays in Scotland.)

What Scotland basically got was all Scottish income tax going to Scotland and a few other minor things. VAT for example goes to the UK treasury and Scotland still receives a substantial block grant, albeit with a chunk taken out to compensate for income tax devolution. (Barnett remains in place, oil revenue goes to UK treasury.) This differs from the previous tax powers because before Scotland would only get the additional income from the tax rise, with the rest going to the UK treasury, whereas now all income tax goes to Holyrood.

>SNP were desperate to raise taxes to cover their huge deficit they're running.
It doesn't work this way. Holyrood didn't have borrowing powers until recently, and even the ones it has are tiny. The notional deficit of an independent Scotland has nothing to do with Holyrood. It stems from insufficient income (Oil revenue crashed.) and not excessive spending on the part of the SNP.

Note that this isn't a defence of the SNP, just an explanation of how Holyrood works. Regardless of what SNP policy is this week, the rules governing it remain the same.

>Labour MPs opposed to Jeremy Corbyn will reportedly establish a new rebel group in parliament if he wins the leadership election.

>The Sunday Times reports the “party within a party” framework will be based on the Socialist Campaign Group of MPs, which counts Mr Corbyn as a member.

>According to the paper, the rebels will look to sign up more than 100 MPs to join the Co-operative party, Labour’s sister party, and sit on the green benches as “double hatted” MPs.

That's a depressing story desu.

Co-operatives are an interesting thing. I don't know much about them, but they seem an interesting route to getting a half-way version of socialism (worker ownership of at least some businesses *without* anyone forcibly seizing them or even nationalizing them.) while retaining free markets.

And yet what do you know about the co-operative party? Only that some Labour MPs, folded into the policy of Labour as a whole, stand as "Labour Co-Op" and then never actually talk about bloody co-operatives, or push for little funding schemes to help them get going or anything.

I mean if they'd at least tried and failed, that'd be fine, everyone gets a go. But nope. Co-Operative party = Labour party. The bastards.

We're finally a one party state. Oppression never felt so good.
