Watch movie on 5.1 with DTS

>watch movie on 5.1 with DTS
>dialoge volumes at 20%
>explosion / music volumes at 120%
>set 5.1 to stereo
>turn down bass to 0
>set software to equal highs and lows
>movie is watchable now

Gee I sure love when the house is shaking every 10 minutes when there is something other then pure dialog in the movie.

kek good thread

...

>implying loudness eq alone is enough

I used to have the same problem with Interstellar.

>turn it up to hear whispered mumbles
>run to turn it down for ear splitting explosions

Why does this happen all the time?
>can hardly hear dialogue so turn up volume
>dialogue ends
>a gust of winds happens and explodes my amp and speakers

It's the industry pushing multi-channel home theater bullshit when very few homes will ever have the space/knowledge/equipment to do it correctly, but hey they gotta sell you shit right?

Stereo is more than adequate for practically everything, you can even do positional audio with it! In a professionally designed and operated environment like a theater sure it can make things more immersive but it's fucking cancer for home viewers.

It's a big reason why I don't watch movies hardly ever--the dialog is inaudible and everything else is ear-splitting loud, who the fuck is asking for this shit?

Now the 5.1/7.1 meme is hitting more and more television shows and I could not be any less excited.

I believe this can all be settled with stereo 2.1. Essentially all the bass gets routed to the subwoofer. Ac3filter has this option.

I honestly love 5.1 and it's perfectly configured for music in my room.

But this is what I use for movies specially at night when I don't want to wake up every neighbour.

Thanks for reminding me how much I miss Drew.

>watching kino on a computer

>people can't handle volume range
Quiet things are quiet. Loud things are loud. Deal with it.

>watching on a "computer"

You mean watching on a monitor grandpa? I know electric mumbo jumbo is a bit too much for you.

ITT: the yify

That's just Nolan movies. Supposedly he does it on purpose but I dunno man.

I have no idea how people watch movies on a TV without subtitles. I can't 80% of the dialogue unless I have subtitles or headphones because they mix it so fucking low in most movies

Is that what fixes it?
I didn't spend all this cash to go back to 2.1
Loudness Equalization doesn't seem to do shit.

>from europe
>haven't been to a cinema since 2012
>friends pester me
>I think about it but only if we watch it in english and no subtitles
>"why does subtitles bother you so much? why are you such an elitist?"

Subtitles are cancer. I read them by reflex even when I understand everything.

This is what I use at night. My motherboards audio software is what works the best.

Actually it is if you are not retarded, not to mention auto volume options on your tv of surround.

or*

>using MicroShaft WinBlow$

You have bad hearing then

Also I hate them because I read faster than the dialogue and spoil myself

Me too friend
