He can get behind anything.

>“They are a quintessentially Canadian band who mean so much to Canadians, even for those who aren’t huge fans,” said Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson.

It could be worse.

>tfw cancer
>tfw best Prime minister in the world is there to hug and hold you

To think some people DIDN't vote for trudeau. Would harper have hugged an ailing rockstar??

My mom made me watch that show with her and I got so triggered. She thinks its like the best show currently on TV.

Literally who

Have you at least tried to redpill your mom? Mine was a bleeding heart about 10 years ago but gradually changed her ways after obongo was elected and the flow of shitskins became insane.

She just won't discuss racially charged stuff. Neither here nor there except jokingly, and mildly at that. The whole family will not say "we love Hillary!" but I know they always vote democrat and they just say "we hate Trump, he's an idiot" but they won't say anything nice about Hillary either. She asked me on the phone yesterday if there's a pill I could take for my racism. I said a blue pill and she didn't get it.

Shitty singer of shitty band gets coverage because like a bitch he announced that he had cancer.

literally who

why couldn't it have been Geddy Lee instead

SLIDE THIS SHIT

COUGHING FITS
PANTS OF SHIT
SOROS' BITCH
GLOBALIST WITCH

He was there last night at the concert. I'm sure he DID hug him back stage.

That really corrected my record

>activating hug protocol-6

>go to school in Kingston
>never heard of Tragically Hip and nobody else has either
>slowly over the course of 2 years everyone becomes diehard fans all of a sudden
>streams of videos and pictures from the concert last night

fucking hipsters

I wonder how cushy it truly must be to govern a country that doesn't matter like Canada. He doesn't have to do shit except not offend anyone and keep saying YAY WEED AND MUSLIMS for a few years right? I mean U.S. makes all military decisions and he won't do anything drastic. I think if they retooled the NDP to be NATIONAL socialistic, that is mostly same party platform in terms of being pro-environment pro-weed but ANTI-immigration they could easily win but they won't.

Yes we know. A couple of times it looked like his going to collapse at last night concert

Canada/US is like a Big/Little Brother relationship

Wouldn't have it any other way

...

>“Growing up in Canada, it’s a given you’re a Hip fan. It’s like a religion,” she said.

Why do they say things like this

I've never heard a full Tragically Hip song, people are such faggots about music.

Go to Sup Forums and discover the full extent. Say you think Crystal Castles are underrated and prepare for war.

>mfw Americans are only just now hearing about this

Well, it's not like the Hip were ever really known in the states. We've all known it since they announced the tour, which inevitably led to yet another newsworthy ticket scalping situation. It got so bad that people practically begged the CBC to air their final concert live (which they did, good on them). Can't say I care for the band much, but it feels weird knowing they won't be around anymore.

I wasn Sup Forums lastnight. Had a big thread since it was being streamed on youtube.

Things turned "political" at the end

I just wish the CBC would talk about something other than white privilege and the Tragically Hip
What a tripe band.

They really arent that good.

Theres the one where its like dun dun dun "he can get behind anything"

then theres the one where you cant hear what hes saying and its like the "revved up like a deuce another runner in the night" except its "blowing hydro" or "blowing high do" or whatever.

"get in get it all out"

Thats a whole song.

Who even listens to this shit, the lyrics are horrible.

You know what else "Canadians" love?

The raptors.

You want a sad laugh, look at the raptors fans at a game.

The tragically hip is to Canadian airwaves as this song was to the 80s.

youtube.com/watch?v=cVikZ8Oe_XA

>Change the station, is there nothing good on?

youtube.com/watch?v=pIgZ7gMze7A

>Oh my god, they are playing it again

youtube.com/watch?v=AjPau5QYtYs

>They are a national treasure, they deserve respect

These guys actually are Canadian as it turns out.

Maybe we just make a lot of bad music in general.

>Tyrion, Jamie, and Cersei Lannister start a band

fuck

> leaf thinks the job of a prime minister is to kiss your boo boos

:^)

;)

Bryan is a fucking awesome guy. Love that he's my mayor.

I fucking hate Trudeau, but I support his right to feel happy and shitty like the rest of us for something iconic and important to only leafs.

I thought it was a nice touch. He did his photo ops but mostly fucked off. I was downtown most of yesterday and caught sight of nothing but plain clothes rcmp. Which there were a fuck ton of.

that's insane. everyone white growing up knew who they were and listened to at least their hits, and I grew up in fucking durham region aka nu-scarberia

I understand the sentiments, but cherry-picking their rock songs with simple lyrics isn't accurate. It doesn't reflect their ability to really write something relatable that speaks truly to the canadian spirit, talking about our history, our land, our identity.

I'm being a bit faggy with that description but the idea that people are faggots for liking the most canadian of bands is faggy as well.

And what, exactly, IS the Canadian spirit?

They say the same thing about Rush, although, granted, they have some good songs, but it's not a fucking given that you're a Rush fan just because you happen to be born in the largest country.

That dumbass Gord had to get cancer to get people to go to his tour. It's just a bunch of bandwagoners swept up because it's their last chance, but if you weren't going to see them when they aren't dying, what difference does it make?

Who?

The spirit of Islam.

That's a great question. It really boils down to the pioneer spirit, western democratic values with a sense of bettering both yourself and your country. It necessitates a deep and loving respect for mother nature, who is incredibly cruel to us. It's knowing that over half our population lives in small towns and rural settings, and that isolation is quiet easy to come by in this country. It's knowing this country is extremely expansive, with so much being unused or unusable but still beautiful. It's being mindful about your history, about carrying on the Scottish/Irish cultural traditions that we learned from our forefathers who settled the land battled over and established by the French and the English. It's about being proud of the British Empire that helped build this country.

Most of what I said isn't necessarily unique to Canada. Other than politics and history, we aren't too much different from the US.

What sets us apart is a pioneer spirit, our cultural heritage, and quiet honestly coming to terms with our relative insignificance, having never been pushed beyond WWII to grow thanks to your enormous population and subsequent protection.

It's hard to define, which makes it sound aloof and non-existent. All I can do is claim it exists.

This was MTv back in the glory days.

And if your country is flooded with Muslims or Chinese how will that change?

i only know two hip songs

50 mission cap and new orleans is falling

The tragilkle hip r niggers

This. I love music. All my friends do. But not Canadian music, Jesus. The Hip aren't that good. If they had to compete against British or American bands, they wouldn't even exist. They're just a totally generic rock band like Nickelback. Utterly disposable.

I gotta disagree.

The Hip have been selling out shows since Phantom Power in '98/99. They've had a hardcore, diehard fan base for a long time, even if a lot of those fans are only in it for three or four albums. There's been probably three distinct groups of Hip fans and it has a great deal with when you went to high school.

I agree, there were a bunch of bandwagoners there for the virtue signalling. But the real fans will still be singing those songs, and nothing is more embarrassing than claiming hip fandom and not knowing the words to songs.

I was in the crowd outside of Kingston city hall and 70% of the people there knew the chorus to a few songs. Me and 4 people around me knew the words to their new songs.

The fandom is finicky and includes all manner of peoples. I really think it speaks to my idea of 3-4 album fans who are there for their '88-95 stuff, their 95-06, and then the last group of 06-now.

There's no real way of testing fan dedication, as most groups suffer the same problems. ebb and flow of music creativity.

There's that fag talk I was talking about

It's a chance for all the 30-40 year olds to virtue signal and take selfies at the last Hip show.

>It really boils down to the pioneer spirit

Modern Socialist Welfare State.
>western democratic values

Non elected head of state with dictatorial powers, if you actually read into it at all beyond your grade 10 civics "Its purely honorary and ceremonial"

>with a sense of bettering both yourself and your country.

Pic related. Clearly improving our country.

exactly
its not like it's Helix or something

>Would harper have hugged an ailing rockstar??
he would probably kill them and use their blood to oil his cyborg parts

is the midget in the band?

I seen them about 4 years ago, great show, but i was not paying the ridiculous prices scalpers were asking this time.

All you faggots who have only ever heard New Orleans is sinking listen to Wheat Kings, a nice little slice of Canadiana about David Milgaard.

It will destroy it. We know that, but Torontonians don't care and they carry too much weight.

honest questions for you lads: what songs have you heard, when did you go to high school, and where did you grow up?

I think your answers might confirm my bias, that's why I'm asking.

Look at this photograph.

Well maybe some care but isn't worth losing your job or friends over.

>canada
>btfo by feminazis since the 60s

he music was an attempt to reflect upon the events of the time – civil rights, the war in Vietnam and the rise of feminism.[91] This led to the Canadian government passing Canadian content legislation to help Canadian artists.

50 mission cap and new orleans is falling

i graduated in 07

here's a bit of free advice, retard:

If you make a blanket statement, you're wrong 100% of the time.

based helix

>describing canada in good terms is fag talk

out of my country, chang.

pioneer spirit does not equate to "Modern Socialist Welfare State."

where do you come up with such drivel.

also:

>implying I don't also despise that fucking picture
>implying I don't hate the distribution of power in our parliament

I wrote a letter to jack layton's office about it years ago when I was a quasi liberal. I got a thoughtful response, likely from some poli sci major from U of T

You're from BC and youre a 90s hipster, we get it.

The only reason the Tragically Hip got any play time at all is because Canadian radio stations are legally bound to play Canadian songs for X length of time each day, like 2 hours or something.

American classic rock filled up the entire rest of the block, because it was actually good.

what about my statement was blanket? what am I wrong about? instead of name-calling, why don't you be specific?

whereas abouts? Where you one of those guitar kids in HS?

My mom is a radio lawyer so that makes me chuckle that Canadian stations are LEGALLY required to play Canadian music for x amount of time a day. I wonder if that's the case anywhere in Europe.

>the canadian spirit, talking about our history, our land, our identity.

What are you on about? We embrace multiculturalism, which means we have no cultural identity. We're just a marketplace for foreign workers to come to to live and shop. Nothing unifies us except a love of money. Trudeau can visit and praise a gay-hating mosque one day and march at gay pride the next. He'll condemn US war crimes and demand human rights but will sell arms to the murderous, salafist Saudis. He's the perfect Canadian: he's friendly to all but doesn't believe in a goddamn single thing.

>where do you come up with such drivel.

50% of every provincial budget is healthcare you dunce. Pioneer spirit has nothing to do with modern Canada, welcome to 2016, Canadian nationalism is dead, welcome to communism and open borders.

I think the Hip got a considerable amount of over-exposure b/c of CRTC laws, sure. Agreed. I still don't think it's shit. I like their connections to Canada, and I think their best albums are the last three they did, which are markedly different than their earlier stuff.

Their sound matured into something better. That's an extremely unpopular opinion with those faggot 40 year olds who shit up every concert.

Also not from BC. QC/ON, when and where it was cool to hate the hip and support barenaked ladies.

Jack Layton was a cunt, and youre a cunt for voting NDP.

wtf is a guitar kid

>NHS
>good

just b/c you've given up in a fatalist heap doesn't mean I have to as well. I believe in something, I believe Canada stands for something, even though you've got the CBC and the liberals telling you otherwise.

>Nothing unifies us except a love of money.

That's a really sad statement if you mean it. Are you looking to go south to make dole like the other ship-jumpers?

I don't know why in threads like these faggots always decry the patriots and then giggle to themselves when they retort "patriotic about what?"

>barenaked ladies.

Another shitty band.

They need a title for that genre of music, its not classic rock, its like mangina rock.

Thats the point.

You think your system is bad? Try waiting 9 months for a hip replacement and then dying instead, in Canada.

Aww I really like them.

youtu.be/B0AayVP5w9s

Is Gord Downie a jew?

never voted for NDP, nice assumption. I hated the oranges before and after layton, but he was an okay guy in a time where it looked like harper wasn't going to make it.

Why can't I believe in the pioneer spirit and share your disapproval for socialised medicine?

Parts of the social contract or state thuggery and theft, like taxes. I don't get to buck the system b/c I hate it.

one of those kids who was obsessed with guitars and rock music, wore his hair long, wore band t shirts every day, etc.

Those were the kind of kids who were "in it for the riffs" and loved their old stuff, like new orleans, blow at high dough, etc.

...

Agreed. BNS were spawn of satan and I hope they all die.

If he was, he certainly wouldn't be dying of cancer. Dying of cancer is for goyim, silly goose.

not a chonger but it just sounds like you're grasping there bud.

On another note I wasn't surprised to find out that one Canadian artist I really do like is a huge lefty cucklord

haha no. i dont play music. i like music but who doenst. but i only went to school in canada for grade 11/12 so thats prolly why i dont know shit about the hip

>Why can't I believe in the pioneer spirit and share your disapproval for socialised medicine?

Thats not Canadian. Sorry.

You, me, we might be born in Canada, and our parents might have been too, like mine, and their parents, and their parents, and maybe we have people who actually died in the world wars in our family, and maybe we consisted the backbone of this country at one point.

However, it is now 2016, and we are no longer Canadians.

Mohammad over there, who just got back from raping a family of Christians in Syria, hes a Canadian, not you. You should bow to him, and feed him, and clothe him, and house him. It is your duty, as Canadians, because propaganda, and reasons.

>John Oliver's right
Maybe you shoulda NOT been overly bias for Hillary. It's 2016, it's not an excuse to go full total traitor.

It's got nothing to do with what I believe. I'm describing the current state of affairs in Canada. Immigrants don't care about civic duty or Canadian history. They didn't come here to bask in the glory of 1812. They came to enjoy a higher standard of material comfort. You may not like that fact and I may not like it either, but that's beside the point. Reality simply is what it is.

I don't care it was one of the first albums I bought as a kid (well Stunt was) and my sister told me I would like it and I still listen to it a lot. Its intelligently crafted AND I LIKE IT FUCK YOU.

so im listening to some tragically hip songs

not that bad. basically 90s sounding alternative

weak bait.

Think that's bad? Look at Mike from REM. Huge edgelord democrat.

I agree with your assessment, and it's a sad state of affairs. But we've gotta repeal it, not act like canadian equivalent of better hitchens.

fatalist attitudes ensure defeat.

...

Too bad you didnt have family members to introduce you to Nirvana and Green Day.

Ive heard nigger music with more depth than Tragically hip singles.

>weak bait.

It wasnt bait, what about that was bait?

>If youre not willing to embrace Islam, youre NOT a part of our society

Justin Trudeau

Um those were on the radio, nobody had to. Nirvana is ok I guess. Green Day to this day just sounds overplayed to me and the lead singer is a complete douchebag. I didn't say I like Tragically Hip, in fact, I've never listened to a song of theirs. I like Barenaked Ladies. From Gordon to Maroon they had a good run.

Calling out Trudeau was funny as fuck tbqh fampai

Did you see the look on his face? There were millions of Canadians, at concerts, at live streams, at home listening to Gord tell everyone that Trudeau was gonna fix shit... Not that he should, or woe betide if he doesn't, he forced his hand.

Now he has to do something or face the wrath of most voters aged 25-50.

Marked by a dead man

>because propaganda, and reasons.

Oh shit that's sharp. But totally accurate. It's all just, as Bush might say, hokum.

wouldn't surprise me

At least with social media they out themselves

>Radio singles are the same thing as owning Dookie or something like Nevermind&Bleach etc

Not really any filler in those, not my type of music anymore, Green Day went to shit, but they are a decent example. Id much rather have been introduced to those albums, than one of the tragically hips.

I might be some nu male hipster faggot if it were the other way around.

I mean its ok, I don't mind it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it and as a kid growing up in the 90s radio sort of ruined it by overplaying it and bands tend to have distinctive sounds. I prefer Semisonic or Savage Garden (yes i am gay).

Someone bought me a savage garden CD when I was young, I resisted it.

Someone bought my friend Backstreet Boys and Will Smith.

In fact, two people gave him Will Smith on the same day, and he had to take one back.

youtube.com/watch?v=3JcmQONgXJM

>Why can't I believe in the pioneer spirit and share your disapproval for socialised medicine?

>Thats not Canadian. Sorry.

That's an awful response, but that's okay. None of it matters.

I thought that was funny too b/c the Hip have been largely apolitical and people assume b/c of their closer for now for plan A (attawa whatever) that they are card-carrying liberals.

I've spoken to one member of the band in private and they sure as shit don't believe in the liberals. They're mostly for keeping our country clean and free, and don't support mistreating indians.

I don't think we are mistreating indians, but I think that's a difference of perception.

I had Will Smith when I was young. I don't like it anymore but I still LOVE Savage Garden. I don't expect straight guys to enjoy BSB or Savage Garden on the level I do but it is catchy shit.

...

Its not Canadian according to Trudeau.

If you dont like paying for third world islamic immigrants, youre not part of Canadian society and thus arent Canadian, but merely living in Canada and born there.

He stripped you of your ability to say that what you believe in and what was formerly Canadian is now Canadian, because its not, according to the leader we elected with a majority government.

He could pass a resolution if he wanted, but why bother, everyone knows hes right in 2016.

There is nothing more sad, desperate and pathetic than a nation without a culture.

Over the course of the history of North America, Euros have erased a lot of the Native culture, without leaving anything lasting in its place.

So basically, you have people too Western to live the Indian life (living off the land, moving around where they please) because those skills have been erased over generations. Add to that increased cancer rates from industrial activity on their ancestral lands and the problem is compounded.

They are too Indian to live the Western life though (school, degree/trade, raise a nuclear family, die richer than before) because they are usually too poor to move to the cities and don't share enough of our values to make it.

Is it your fault or my fault? No, but they don't have the means (ie a working culture) to fix their problems, and unless you are some fucky social Darwinist, ourselves and our government should remain aware and do what we can to help (this is not the White man's continent).

Just my 2c (0c or 5c these days tho amirite)
