You're forgetting how Germany got most of their debt forgiven after WW2. Even without accounting for the Marshall plan, Germany only had 10 years of national socialism while Poland had 40 years of communism, was moved half-way westwards and had its population decimated.

You're forgetting how we paid billions upon billions in reparations to this day, how we lost science, patents and technology to the allies, especially America, and how on top of it all we were burdened with the cost of occupation for many years.

You still had factories and skilled people. While the allies took a lot of scientists and patents, the population was still skilled in manufacturing and had the right kind of values.
Poland wasn't an industrial powerhouse before WW2, it got destroyed by both the Russians and you at the beginning and then Russians let them bleed in the Warsaw uprising. Then their territory got shifted and they didn't have the people to populate the new lands. Then 40 years of communism which destroys values necessary for rebuilding, breeds corruption and stymies ambition.

You had it easy. Pumping a country full of money (which by the way isn't happening, the EU funds are not a major contributor for Polish budget) is not a fasttrack to development.

Poland only joined the EU in 2004. West Germany had a normal development path from 1945 onwards. To compare the two is moronic. Come back in 30-40 years and then compare where Poland is then to where Germany is NOW. That's how you equalise for the 45 years Poland lost in communism.
