Cosmic Storytime of Pain: ALL of Bendis' Guardians of the Galaxy #7 - ANAD Guardians

Here we are, Sup Forums, we've read all of Bendis' run on the Guardians of the Galaxy for the last four years. Thanks for sticking through.
Only the current volume to go, with the All-New All-Different post-Secret Wars relaunch.
Did you read Guardians of Knowhere in yesterday's thread? Did you, as everyone, hope that the pointless filler characters Yotat and Hala would never show up again? Guess again, fuckers!
With the Movie 5 + Kitty Pryde, Ben Grimm, Flash Thompson and Angela, this is Guardians of the Galaxy volume 4: Hopefully the Last Bendis One

Previous threads:
#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 and #6 user did SW and ANAD Star-Lord here

...

Skeetee stays as a regular now, so no more art changes every arc

Can you feel the end approaching?
Man, what a ride this has been.

That's not ominous at all. Lots of callbacks to the start of vol3 this issue

Starting now, really.
>Chitauri were invited
>not even mentioning the Badoon
>based Kl'rt nowhere to be seen

Reminiscing that Ben technically started out as a space pilot in FF #1 is nice, but calling the rest "a little F4 detour" is too far
Also same page in GotG v3 #1 with Iron Man

So after reading the Secret War tie-in again, I got the impression that Bendis just thought the event was just a rehash of "House of M", and treated it as such.

Did anyone else get that?

Can you guess?
>it's a chitauri episode
>AGAIN

>all of those logos are real books now
Impressive.

That's an interesting comparison and pretty spot-on

What's weird to me is that immediately post-2012 the Chitauri only appeared in Nova and that seemed to be the end of le synergy
3 years later they're everywhere

Showoff Kitty is an interesting development

Oh boy, I sure can't wait for Annihilation II.

RIP a good squadron of meme aliens

Ok, shitting on The Phantom Menace is cool in my book

Annihilation II: this time on Earth so it's relevant!

>tfw no Thing ongoing

This of all the lost potential here
Peter trying to do good at the head of the Empire
Space politics
Filling the void left by the Kree superpower
Negotiations with Kree generals, with Shi'ar, with Skrulls

Instead we decided that Peter is a giant whiny baby who wants nothing to do with that
Remember the start of the run? "The Star-Lord of Spartax"? His family's legacy?

Ben, you know there is no Infinity Suit
The Inifnity Gauntlet is simply a case for the Infinity Gems
I know it's supposed to be comedic, but it's a stupid joke and it doesn't work

>Rocket...
>Come on...
>You know...
>You're gay.
All this stems from the fact that Rocket is now in charge of the Guardians

Who /tg/ here?
Question: did Peter ever reveal that Hala's undoing was on J'son?
Because that could've had repercussions

Oh, and Bendis completely ignores Humphries' second run. For the better, we may all agree.

Who wanted to see Star-Manchild? Who?

AUNT PETUNIA MENTIONED

>the galaxy's most dangerous woman
>basically the Yasutora Sado of Gotg

Just why.

We'll see how much this drags

>HALA needs to be in all caps

>Guardians of the Galaxy volume 4: Hopefully the Last Bendis One
I thought he was already confirmed to be writing Guardians of Earth.
I hope he is since it would be less likely for him to write Nova then

It really upsets me that all the space races all now in the Milky Way.
It felt so grand to have space-faring empires span entire galaxies

Guardians of Earth should be just the title of the last mega-arc where they are stranded on Earth, not a new ongoing as far as we know

>I am the last accuser
That seems unlikely. Not to mention that fucking RONAN is the Supreme Accuser so he has already more baseline power and he got a crazy powerup with the Black Vortex

Well, I guess that now that the Kree don't rule over an entire galaxy anymore, it makes more sense to imply that the entire race is gone because Hala was detroyed
Last time this happened in OGS like 90% of their galaxy was genocided but Hala was fine

Also, I know that "accuser" sound more badass but she would really function better as a Pursuer
The accuser corps isn't even that strong

Did Tanalth the Pursuer show up in Robinson's Squadron? She was nice. Also tied into the whole Eternal/Galactus/Kree game he created in Invaders

Kitty's pose looks a bit indecent

The accusers basically derived their power from the hammer and SI's tech, didn't they?

When you think about it, Hala here is a lot like Wraith 2.0 except her powers are "being OP" instead "being OP because of a legit power explained through an EDGY backstory"

>thinking Coldsteel the Accuser could just go down like that

Ah, the old "enemy knocks everyone out cold" Bendis meme

Revenge is a hell of a drug.

So she took him, put him on a spaceship, programmed it to orbit around Spartax and went back to destruction?

At least Adams is doing the covers now.

Let's post this page even if barely anything happened

thanks for taking the time to storytime, OP.
Why would you do this?

>Gee, OP, the Hala storyline seems only there to take space with pointless fighting, I sure hope it doesn't get worse that that!

Do you recognize that shoulder?

I steted that in the first OP
You all know what high place Sup Forums holds DnA's GotG in. You all know that the general opinion about Bendis' GotG is "it's shit". But how much of it have you really read?
Of course it's shit, but WHY is it shit? It's not just not following DnA's characterization. There is so much more shit to it.
Well, starting this week we're going to read ALL of post-Thanos Imperative Marvel Cosmic, starting with our guys Bendis and Humphries!

FUCKING YOTAT
Nevermind that his backstory included Battleworld and he thought of his title in a reality that's not canon anymore

>Now that's what I call edgy!
Also does Bendis realize how big a planet is, assuming Spartax is around Earth's dimension
A single individual doesn't simply attack "the planet" if it stays grounded

>a Brood walking around in a hood
That seems so silly
Especially when it could've simply infected a host and use that

Those energy cycles on the planet's surface look cool, but I wonder if they're supposed to actually mean something

...

The fact that she's this OP without any explanation wouldn't even irk me if the reason why she is would be there to become plot-relevant in the future
But it's not even hinted at

>le smug Schiti face
Seriousy, it's like his trademark along with the Schiti shrug/eww pose

>fucking Kitty is the first one to wake up
>not Drax
>not Venom

So if she was still in the vicinity of where she knocked out the Guardians, how could she lay waste to the planet?

Okay, explanation for Kitty waking up first
Also Rocket character development

The need to go against her with a plan rises

Now I'm curious to see how this Groot design would look under artists that are not Schiti
RR&G's series possibly has this

>Venom did a thing
>an actually cool thing
Color me surprised.

>hahaha just how HIGH do you have to BE to use a cloak ship oh my GOD

This halfway design between classic slutty Gamora and Cosmic Gamora had potential

It goes pretty much as you could expect from BendisGamora

Aaaaand Sado'd again.

Disappointed that le no planetary defenses meme strikes again.
Imagine Spartax's military command struggling with the fact that they could have the sufficient nuclear power to destroy her, but she stays so grounded that those would destroy a good chunk of the population
Something like that

Can you believe that three issues are already behind us?

>the only remaining members
We were never even told why the Badoon left

>Drax was the one who kept saying they should stay and fight
>keeps telling so
>the one who went down and sacrificed was Gamora
Just fuck my destroyer up

I'd be more okay with destruction porn if it was at least shown and depicted in a meaningful way

Use Kaioken, quick!

How can he keep doing this?

I know this is his classic "have powerful character job to make the OC look badass" thing, but after having Gamora lose almost every fight she's been in, it doesn't have any impact.

I mean, as hyper-liberal as Marvel is right now, this trend doesn't come off as sexist to them? Is it supposed to be okay because a girl did it this time?

FUCK! I almost feel like I should write a letter.

>page 7
Anyone reading?

Without the antagonism going around, Rocket would be the one who actually comes out with a plan instead of bitching
Where is the master strategist, come on

What's worse is that no fight has shown some character development except this one against the Planet Guy who she threatened so hw went away. Everyone other time she was pwned just because the plot required so and everyone walked out exactly the way they were before

I like how no evacuation was ordered
But Bendis really seems to have a Gamora humiliation fetish, look at this shit

10/10 logic

Considering she's Kree, she should be really make a bigger deal out of space racism
Like, "you destroyed the supreme race so billions of lesser race fags are nothing in the face of that"

That must honestly hurt

Remember how Gamora left at the end of v3 saying how her presence in the Guardians would only carry trouble?

While now it's unclear if she was captured and spilled the beans on the Guardians' position or if Hala followed her
Anyway that plot point could've been carried over meaningfully and wasn't
Same as ersatz cosmic consciousness

Jesus.

OY VEY
JEWS IN SPACE

He's trying to make Rocket look like a bad leader, which makes no sense seeing as he was Peter's right hand man, and lead the team whenever they split up.

This is so fucking boring
Why does Bendis think he can write action just because he scripts double-spread pages

This.
Hey, at least give me the straight man who sometimes fail for being too logical or willing to sacrifice little things for the greater good
That could be Rocket as a bad leader
But here?

...

Isn't what's her face from Asgardia still able around this time as well?

And Gladiator?

So I guess we are to assume that Yotat was tipped Drax's position by the Brood to conduct another attack
Wouldn't it make more sense to have Hala being tipped considering how much more destruction she caused?

>We need a plan
>Nope

The whole run in a nutshell.

Eh, Freiya was basically there to tell everyone else "fuck off" and she was sort of deposed by MRA Odin again in Aaron's Thor.
Plus it's said that Gladiator didn't answer the call.

>my actual word
Whut

*world
And for some reason the thing that triggers me the most is that the Mets are mentioned by fucking Star-lord instead of FUCKING BEN GRIMM
Come on

Reminds me of Treasure Planet

Have we even seen Drax kill a character that wasn't "random chitauri #2323576" in this run?
It seems... off.

>jobbing again
Who but CM Punk could write his ongoing then, really

That's it! I had it in mind but a name wouldn't come out

I fail to see what that caption is trying to convey

>have I mentioned I am of Jewish descent?

Especially since Ben has gone to space with the FF countless times. Heck, he's been to other dimensions, the past and the future. I'd say he has more experience than Kitty Pryde or Drax.

>wait, you're an Earther, except Spartoi and pink Kree look exactly the same
