Farscape

>My name is John Crichton
>an astronaut
Honestly he just doesn't seem smart enough to be an astronaut, much less a US astronaut. Breaks all believability right off the bat imo

In the fucking pilot he calculates something so advanced that the aliens haven't even thought of it in seconds

he seems like he has an iq below 90

Well then you're a bigger idiot than you think he is.

Well for most of the series he is an environment he has zero knowledge of and he has severe untreated PTSD

The whole point of Farscape is that the human isn't better than all the aliens but actually significantly inferior to most of them because humanity is far behind in it's evolution.

That's why the pilot and the intro is so Buck Rodgers, it's taking that early pulp premise of earth man ends up in space opera and flipping it so that the earth man isn't a super saiyan god

>implying PTSD is real

what is the point of this thread, to prove how much of a cunt you are?

they probably wanted to start a farscape thread so they made a shitpost to get some replies to keep it bumped

Fingers crossed for another season. Ben could still pull it off.

Rygel's dead ;_;

isn't it shown later on that Ayylmaos planted framework of worm hole travel in his head?

Never gonna happen. Why do people still expect it?

F.

Maybe because there's a script for a movie floating around? Could lead to a new season.

t-theatrical?

Is it just me or is Guardian's of the Galaxy very similar to farscape?

>Star-Lord is essentially the same character as John Crichton
>Groot is Zhaan, both are plants
>Drax is D'argo, both warrior types
>Gamora is Aeryn, both alien humanoid, romantic leads

Both franchises follow a team of misfit alien outlaws on the run.

Doubt it. Probably a TV movie.

>hippy plant bitch
>tentacle head leather-buck
>Kermit the Jewish Space Frog
>Agressive dom space marine grrl
>and pilot
The rest of the crew weren't exactly the intellectual giants of their respective species. Except based Sparky. He's everyone's superior.

No. He discovers them by a freak accident. Over the course of the series they do implant the knowledge in his head, which is why Scorpious wants him so bad.

Scorpius makes The Monarch look sinister

I love Farscape and that's why I'm letting it go. It's over with a great ending. Nothing more is needed.

>Canadian show
>the pilot is an American

Makes you think

>Canadians
>Starting a new space mission with new technology
They know who wears the pants

Australian, dipshits.

Scorpius isn't evil though

>it's a crackers episode

>it's a get bodyswapped into your waifu and jiggle in front of a mirror episode

The show is really about an american who gets lost in the gay rave and bdsm scene of australia.

>it's a The Hangover episode

>you will never teach you smoking hot alien waifu how to love while you bang some hotter alien shut on the side

I like Farscape, but the show was so outlandish most of the time that the whole "it reversed classic sci-fi tropes" meme I keep hearing never seemed relevant even if it's true. No one cares about classic tropes of the genre being creatively challenged or whatever when you are getting episodes like Crackers Don't Matter thrown at you every other week.

Stargate crossover was best season

go to bed warren ellis, it's 3am

it's not significant to farscape but when you compare it to the other shows of the time which were terrified of being even a normal space opera it becomes notable

Dude do you even know what a real astronaut is? They're basically jocks that can math

Let it go, we've seen time and time again that reviving a series just doesn't work. The people, time and place that make something magical in the first place isn't something you can recreate and years of expectation cast a huge shadow over any revival and make every disappointment even worse.

I think Stargate actually sort of pioneered in its own way by totally embracing the military and portraying it in a positive light. In all other ways it was extremely formulaic, but that was the first time I've ever seen a science fiction show go so completely in for depicting the military as a positive force in the world.

>They're basically jocks that can math
Through the Apollo missions they used test pilots because they needed the kind of people with nuts big enough to strap themselves into experimental jet aircraft because who the fuck else do you give that job too?
By the time the space shuttle was in operation you had flight officers, but you saw civilian scientists going up. Obviously there's a minimum physical requirement, but old ass john glen was able to pass muster, so you just need to not be a total chud fatbody.

..and Chricton was a test pilot. He fits this archetype. It's just a fun show, why don't you relax a little.

Your mom's an archetype.

>tfw no claudia black mummy

just kill me now

WAHHAHHHAAHHHAHHH AHHHYAAAA

Early astronauts were airforce chads faggot

Airforce and Navy.

Point is they were chosen for being presentable on TV. They weren't retarded or average by any means but presentability was the most important since the whole point was to beat Russia and show the public Fuck yeah 'murica

>Honestly he just doesn't seem smart enough to be an astronaut
He's an atmospheric propulsion specialist.
The one thing about John I didn't like was all the Earth pop culture references and idioms he'd spout. The aliens around him wouldn't even take notice of the nonsense he was spitting.
Were the translator microbes just not translating them or something?

>Crackers Don't Matter
>Out of Their Minds
>Scratch n Sniff
>Revenging Angel

Damn, what a fun show!

>Were the translator microbes just not translating them or something?

You said it yourself.

Even with a straight translation, without context his pop culture references just came off as nonsense to the aliens.

personally i would say that wont get fooled again is the best 'zany' episode, closely followed by crackers dont matter

It's a Baby Boomer and Generation X thing. They think their pop culture memes are the center of the universe, and the height of hilarity is spouting those references to people who don't get them. Because people not getting such cosmically important pop culture references is inherently funny.

It is the worst form of humor because it isn't very funny to start with and it becomes extremely dated very quickly.

Fortunately Farscape had enough other things going for it that the reference humor never bothered me too much.

It was rebealed humans are a branch of the peacekeepers or something
Gunn said the only Sci fi he liked was Farscape and star trek tng

>The one thing about John I didn't like was all the Earth pop culture references and idioms he'd spout. The aliens around him wouldn't even take notice of the nonsense he was spitting.
What in the hesmata is this frelneck talking about? If i have to listen to one more microt I'm going to go farbot!
He's spouting pop culture references to help keep his sanity, and he hears just as much crazy shit he doesn't understand from them.

>It's a Baby Boomer and Generation X
Yes, they were far more meme based than nowadays

>great ending

wew lad

...

>Won't Get Fooled Again

I knew I was forgetting one!

"If I may be honest John, most of the time I have no idea what you're saying."

>hire someone as hot as virgina hey
>put her in 20 pounds of make up that gives her cancer and ruins her looks

whyte bitch, her legs open
JaMarvin, his cock big and black
whyte boi, his face red
and dick tiny

JaMarvin in da club
JaMarvin at your girl's house
Dicklets in Poor Little White Guy, his anus wide

yes

Most just think he is batshit insane most of the time.
Though kinda understandable at that point in the series.
