Just finished marathoning Assault on Arkham and Suicide Squad.
Why was the live-action movie terrible compared to the animated one?
If SS had a plot similar to AoA, it would have been ten times better. I'm tired of the "end of the world" BS that almost all hero films have to shove in our ass.
Son of Batman is so unwatchable it literally makes Damien unsalvagable
Jaxon Jackson
Personally I prefer AoA because >Mission was within their abilities and was well planned (before going to shit) >Allowed the cast to be bad guys >The team interacted better with one another, each getting enough lines and character moments >Didnt have a military escort to enforce the squad, bombs and Waller on comms was enough But more than that, SS just sucks at editing, pacing, character juggling, and overall plot.
Blake Price
You, I like you.
If Suicide Squad took at least 1/4 of the ideas presented in Assault on Arkham, the film would be a lot better. Even with the editing issues.
Lucas Nelson
That man will always be the dude from Band of Brothers in my eyes.
Jason Perry
2/3 of AoA>>>>> SS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> last third of AoA
Why everything in the Arkhamverse need a prison breakout and the Joker in it? It really makes Arkham Asylum look weak

Because animated films are made by a small team, and movies are made with massive budgets and executives overlooking each element to maximize profitability.
That need to play it safe killed Suicide Squad, it killed Ant-Man, it killed Age of Ultron, it contributed to killing BvS and it will probably kill Justice League as well.
Basically the higher the budget and larger the audience, the more generic it has to be. It goes comics>animation>TV>video games>films.
The animated movies can do basically whatever as long as they shove Batman and Joker and Harley Quinn in.
Juan Powell
>movies are made with massive budgets and executives overlooking each element to maximize profitability
this. It's a greek tragedy that studios will never understand why Deadpool did so well. It had a budget of 50 million dollars so they had to write a decent script to make up for the special effects. I think that's also why we're seeing some of the best tv ever right now.
Angel Watson
Just say that AoA has muh Killer Frost waifu XD.
Isaiah Hill
>Ant Man I wouldnt put Ant Man with AoU or SS. Sure it was a lot like Iron Man 1 but really I think it worked out pretty good. I mean hell they managed to make him one of the more popular MCU characters, that alone is an achievement considering how hard the concept was to sell to casuals
Jace Edwards
Agreed with all of this, especially >Didnt have a military escort to enforce the squad, bombs and Waller on comms was enough The way that allowed Deadshot to maneuver around Waller made the whole thing more interesting.
Elijah Richardson
>considering how hard the concept was to sell to casuals quips are lowest form of pandering
>hurr but your pic is from civil bore
Ant Man made Iron Man 1 look like Schindler's List.
I enjoyed it, but just like GOTG, everybody acts like quirky comedy is a hard sell.
It's not.
James Watson
But if it's not the "end of the world" how do we know that it's serious?
Jaxson Ward
Im not talking about the quips, Im talking about the basic premise of Ant Man. >"He shrinks and talks to ants!" >"Wow thats.....something" Was pretty much the outlook before the movie released.
Cant find the quote but some directors have said that "once you spend $100 million you have to save the world". Big budgets mean producers demand high stakes. Easiest go-to for high stakes is "save the world".
Brody Wright
Assault made sense because there wasn't a ton of exposition in the backgrounds of the villains, so when they shamelessly killed KGBeast it didn't seem so shameless. All of them were nearly anonymous assholes. To add-on, the conflict at hand was something appropriate for a team of villains (break into a prison).
Noah Nelson
>the world?! but that's where I keep all my stuff!
Then make the film about a tin-pot dictator who gets his hands on the superweapon of the week and the Squad are the only ones who can sneak in because reasons.
Make it a cheap photocopy of The Expendables, this isn't fucking rocket science. Suicide Squad should be the most ridiculous, gaudy and expensive season of Strike Back ever made.
Connor Sanchez
I mean it's a fine movie still, it's just so much potential is blown by making Scott a jokey everyman with a hot love interest he bangs at the end of the movie after he foils the plan of the evil businessman.
The movies all end up a hodgepodge of good ideas hampered by bad ideas.
Camden Rivera
>using emoticons on here dude, just fucking leave
Blake Turner
>two movies (3 hours 19 minutes) >marathoning
Noah Brown
There's one thing about AoA I loved is seeing Arkhamverse Batman as an antagonist. I always wondered what it would feel like if you were to go against that unstoppable bone-breaking machine not control it. Batman scenes almost felt like a slasher movie with no murders.
Jayden Jones
He's saying what you would be saying.
Juan Watson
Agreed 100%. SS had a lot of problems but the most glaring one to me was the plot. There was no reason for it to have to be some big dumb end of the world thing. That's not the type of the threat this team should be called in to face, especially not on their first outing. I realize that it may be blasphemous to suggest this to Hollywood but something smaller scale would have been more appropriate.
Christopher Sanchez
Yeah, like superpowered terrorism. They should have adapted Ostrander's first issue.
Isaiah Reyes
They were both good.
>Mission was within their abilities
Did you even watch the movie? Their mission was extracting Waller. That's it.
They were L I T E R A L L Y told to not engage. They weren't even TOLD about Enchantress until she kidnapped Waller.
For fucks sake nigger. Why is paying attention to a movie so difficult?
Colton Rodriguez
Apparently the original cut of SS did not play it safe, and then got fucked in editing.
Camden Gonzalez
>he >not I emoticonfag pls go
Alexander Cruz
>That's not the type of the threat this team should be called in to face
Good thing that they weren't, then?
Cooper Morales
this
lotsa retards love to hate DCEU moves without thinking it through
Ethan Cox
It's like that fucking cell phone shit with RLM. If they'd just watch the fucking movie it isn't hard to understand, Jesus Christ.
Joshua Lewis
It is a Sup Forums meme.
Kayden Thomas
Antman hardly quipped in the movie itself though.
Jace Long
bump for this hard truth
SS was good
Christian Cox
Plus it had a legitimate reason to include Harley: she knew the layout of Arkham. Why the fuck would she be included in the SS in the movie? Aside from marketing and profitability.
Tyler Sanchez
AoA really could've used tighter writing and better animation. But aside from that it was enjoyable.
Asher Howard
That's a really good point.
I really enjoyed her scene in AoA when they drop the squad in while strapping to chairs without telling them about the parachutes. It showed them just how expendable Waller sees them as. It also served to show just how batshit crazy Harley is compared to the others. She was laughing her ass off the entire time.
Instead we got some rpg hitting their helicopter and a crash landing that should have killed half of them at least.
Grayson Cox
>She was laughing her ass off the entire time. >didn't watch Suicide Sqaud
it's ok kiddo
Justin Baker
She's not a bad Harley in SS. But she doesn't really have that crazy laugh like in AoA. I can only remember like 2 times of her laughing and it was short lived. The rest of the time she was just the meme machine/ t-shirt slogan person. I even remember there's a part where flag is almost killed and she smiles "good riddance". That smile was insane looking and was a perfect Harley smile.
But as far as that balls to the wall crazy laugh of facing death and not giving a fuck? It's missing in SS. Maybe you should watch AoA again to see how it should be done
Lucas Evans
why does this meme exist, AoA has just as many problems as the film but gets a pass just because its animated.
Anthony Rivera
Because it at least worked on a base B-movie level. It's nothing great, but if you want an entertaining cheap action movie with some memorable moments you have it.
If Suicide Squad was stupid but at least had some good action, I could understand why people could like it. But even the setpieces look like complete shit, it's just bargain-basement zombie brawls.
> If they'd just watch the fucking movie it isn't hard to understand, Jesus Christ.
Or maybe fans need to realise that just because someone missed a detail or two doesn't mean that they didn't watch the ensure film. Stop pretending it's a zero-sum game.
Austin Hall
>but at least had some good action
>what is Diablo final form
Mason Long
>bad CGI vs worse CGI
And no, I have no problem with CGI-heavy fight scenes in general. But that one looked fucking terrible.
Cooper Martinez
>But that one looked fucking terrible. No it most definitely did not. Keep on meme hustling tho.
Nathaniel Hill
Are you going to tell me that Gods of Egypt had quality CGI next?
Chase Sanders
epic false equivalence keep going bud
John Martin
Sup Forums has terrible taste assault is a TERRIBLE movie. It's pure crap. As bad as the damian movies
Hunter Sanders
You're lucky, to me he'll always be Shitty M. Bison.
Thomas Davis
The problem with AoA is once the Joker and Bats show up the film's quality takes a nosedive and becomes very predictable. Not to mention Joker was more annoying than threatening with his passive agressive jealousy of Deadshot.
A live action treatment of that plot might have been worse, especially since they'd pander even more to the Joker/harley/dead shot 'triangle'
Tyler Morris
SS would have been good if they go out their way to be SS. They are literally Batman villains that can do anything that is legal in their contract.
Ayden Sanders
When it comes to their animated output DC make the best animated comic book films. Its just in the live action stuff that they keep fucking up.
Asher Perez
It really wasn't that great
Kayden Martin
>When it comes to their animated output DC make the best animated comic book films True. JL: Gods and Monsters was pretty good as an alternate universe too.
>Or maybe fans need to realise that just because someone missed a detail or two doesn't mean that they didn't watch the ensure film. Stop pretending it's a zero-sum game.
Yeah, nah. If you're going to bitch about something being wrong with a movie you don't get to be defensive when somebody calls your bullshit.
Jordan Hall
How dumb are you guys?
Did you not understand that in the movie, they didn't have a massive roster of villains to choose from? Plus they were dealing with guys who either had powers, or had near-superhuman specialities, especially if they'd dealt with capes before.
Remember, Waller said that Boomerang "has no powers, but has dealt with Metahumans before." Deadshot is the best there is at guns, Slipknot is a guy who climbs (on a mission where they need to climb a building), and Harley is basically a female Joker (which makes her one of the "worst of the worst".)
Benjamin Allen
Go spam your shitty threads Sup Forumsfag
Ryder Barnes
Give it up. Hating the DCEU is the current normalscum maymay.
Brody Howard
fuck off phoneposter
Lucas Price
>why wasn't SS as good as AoA this has basically become a meme at this point
