I laughed once, at the Mantis, Watch Out

Is this the end of capehit?

meh its a decent flick, i like Drax

quill is the most uninteresting character ever

>more quips
>pacman
>shit plot

First one was good except "meme off bro you and me" part but second movie sucks.

They took all the shit parts of the first and made them bigger and louder. 4/10 worst capeshit of the year so far

too many attempts at jokes
terrible pacing
too many storylines

still better than most capeshit though

It's good. Development for characters like Quill, Yondu, Kraglin, Rocket, Nebula. Finally a good villain. And the team is a nice group that fits together unlike the Avengers. Wouldn't mind watching them on their average day without galaxy saving.

Careful OP, you'll upset the redditors that are currently jerking each other in the other GoTG thread

It actually put me in a good mood. If the Punisher would be the thing I like the most in the MCU (if he can be counted as a part of it) then the Guardians would be on the opposite side of the spectrum of things that I enjoy in it.

Things like Civil War would be in the middle. Generic, mindless punchfest.

With today's state of "professional" film criticsm capeshit is perfectly safe.

Captcha : close millars

that's brilliant

that made me kinda upset

Oh shit, can only add to agreement on how perfect that is.

Are you describing Diversity Squard?

Agreed. Punisher is the best out of tv-marvel stuff and GoTG with Antman are funny capekinos. Rest of Defendors and Avengers with agents of SHIIEEET can go fuck themselves.

Nah SS had hot girls at least

>Quill was 8-10 when he was kidnapped, yet he is a library of pop culture

What's different from volume 1? I don't get it, why did you expect something different.

>did not understand the plot
Golden people spending all the time and resources to kill few people because they stole few batteries.
Pireate sidestory that was dumb and pointless
And planet dude that has nothing to do with humanitty has an actual human brain.
Yeah I did not understand it, but it is how it is

Volume 1 was a really fun space adventure with almost perfect pacing, jokes that were actually funny and didn't feel forced (inb4 meme off) and an identity that felt its own.
2 is a lazy sequel. Like I said, it's better than most capeshit, but considerably worse than 1 in almost every way

Gave me a headache to watch. Kurt Russell's interviews were good though. He has either perfected the art of bullshit or is really optimistic and loves reading into this stuff.

Fondu dying was probably the stupidest part of any superhero movie ever. Not necessarily him dying, but the way it happened. It was completely nonsensical. It was also stupid for a comedy to try and raise imaginary dramatic stakes. At first I was sort of annoyed, but now I realize that Rooker will more than likely use the exposure to do some decent movies in the coming years. Looking forward to them.

People keep mentioning the pacing, but other than that increasingly hard to watch introduction I think it was paced fine. Was the story great? No, but oh well.
The real problem was the editing. The scenes didn't flow at all. Maybe it was the way they were shot, maybe the editor just sucked. We'll never know.

>I'm 16 and I hate popular things

>unironically defending reddits of the galaxy deux
Go back

>i'm a sheep that goes with the herd.

Classic.

That's why I do not and will not trust anything on RT. They clearly receive money from promoters. Their objectivity is shot.

>shill critics don't exis-

I laughed pretty hard at the scene with Drax and Manis laughing at Quill

i felt that it was a bit forced. i hated drax's fake laughs in the movie

Yeah, it felt really forced and wasn't funny because of overacting.

He had nothing else to do. There were no goons to kill in the movie except for the pirates but he was somewhere else at the time.
Honestly why didn't they think that Rocket might need more help. Instead they left him with a dangerous prisoner and a small bunch of twigs all in the open with their precious ship.

It was a bit forced with Drax, but Mantis joining in is what got me.

I laughed more than the first one. Fuck off.

...

Everything felt forced in this movie though

t. reddit

Part was genuinely hilarious

And heartwarming in hindsight. All Rocket knew at that point was that Ego was a possibly dangerous creep.

How is this *funny*

This is Amy Schumer tier of *funny*

kys

Quil literally just sits and wait for the 3rd act

This trully is Marvels Suicide Squad

It's just what happened to Han and Leia in ESB.

Huh? Where? That old bitches cosplaying maymay reddit-tier characters?

Suicide Squad is DC's worst movie. GOTG2 is one of the better Marvel films

How old are you

I got so angry at this point.
For the whole movie I felt like the guys who made it thought the audience is stupid. It was insulting

THIS

quads don't lie ya'll

OH BABY

Only just watched this for the first time earlier. I enjoyed the first, thought it was a great flick, probably one of my prefered superhero films despite prefering the edgy, grim-dark DCEU (and despite "dance off breh"). This film was garbage. Badly paced, meme-fuel, in your face "please laugh at this joke" situations every 5 seconds, average storyline, and generally bad acting (or maybe that's just because of the insistence on joking every line).
>that fucking ending
Boy I can't wait to be called boring and told that I hate fun by my normie friends.

Are the guardian movies excellent proof that its a good thing that troma never got hollywood budgets?

Why did James Gunn do Groot's dance moves for the fight at the opening instead of hiring a professional dancer?

His dancing seemed somewhat strange to be focused on instead of what was going on the background given that the dancing didn't come out to be that interesting. That seemed like a bit of a let down.

Just finished watching this. Beautiful film really. BOth on visual and story. Some genuine touching moments, just enough to make you tear up a little. The jokes were funny as well. James Gunn is one genius bastard.

groot is not a professional dancer, it's just supposed to be a kid grooving to music.

>if you don't like this two hour long nonsensical CGI nightmare version of a bad futurama episode is because you hate fun
Wtf i have to buy the bluray now!

I moderately agree with these points.
Well at least it made me feel something. Can't say the same about other superhero movies from 2015 onwards except for Logan.

I haven't enjoyed a marvel movie this much probably since winter soldier but even more so.

the only thing that made me roll my eyes was the pacman thing.

>the absolute state of Rotten Tomatoes

Remind me why we keep sperging out over RT scores on this board again?

since the first one was trash why woukd you expect the second to be any better

Jokes on you, I liked it. It was fun and only had one or two bad "jokes".

And no, I'm not from reddit.

Most genre movies with super high RT scores are generic and universally inoffensive.

Personally I am more likely to really enjoy something if it's around the 40% to 60% mark.

You may not be from there, but you belong there.

>kids without a father in their lives are raised by the TV
True to life.

Well he is a god, I don't think god's have memory problems

I seriously think this is one of the worst MCU movies, what was James Gunn thinking with this one?

So, not liking something popular makes you a contrarian teenager? Seriously fuck off

It's one of the best

Careful Pajeet.

This was one of the better MCU films. I haven't heard any legitimate criticism yet other than you personally didn't find it funny. The audience it was targeted at did. What about the pacing was off? The sentiment connected in the theater I was in.This film was anything but boring. Very exhilarating action sequences. I'd say the only the bad part was the Pacman insert. the film undercuts it's serious moments with comedy a tad too much, but that's not an incredible fault.

My main problem with this film is the amount of jokes they forced into it, it feels like they're trying too hard to capture the feeling of the first film. I did enjoy it overall though.

Had to turn it off half way in. Damn it was boring.

You must be a straight up faggot if you don't like Nebula, the gold chick and Mantis.

Sorry, but this movie wasn't meant for thirty something year old movie connaisseurs with no life.

You're alone in your room and all of a sudden these four walk in
What do?

>dem golden shoulders
Truly a perfection.

>I haven't heard any legitimate criticism yet

The way Yondu died felt totally forced redundrant because it was a straight up copy of the Groot sacrifice in Vol 1.

Also Kurt Russell trying to recruit Starlord by telling him he murdered his mother made made no sense at all for someone so acutely aware and savvy in the ways of humanity. It was simply bad writing.
_________

There, now you have.

The pacing is glacial through the first two acts, and the whole "split them off in pairs and have them speak all their deepest truths to each other" bit was almost insultingly self-aware in its contrivance.

Too many of the gags either fall completely flat or suffer from Seth MacFarlan syndrome, wringing all the funny out of themselves to the point of taking a perfectly healthy horse, beating it to death, and then gleefully beating the dead horse they just made, pausing for effect, then drubbing it just a bit more.

And lastly, the entirety of the plot relies on two astronomically huge coincidences. They are:

>Yondu, after having played the part of Ego's kidnapper for who knows how many decades, just so happens to develop a soft spot for Quill, the one viable heir that Ego's managed to spawn in millions of years of trying. The alternative, that Quill was Yondu's first abduction, is even more unbelievable.

>Ego, in spite of millions of years of experience with lesser beings and having absolutely nothing to gain from revealing himself as the source of Quill's mother's cancer, chooses to do so at exactly the worst possible moment.

>Remind me why we keep sperging out over RT scores on this board again?
It's a good shitposting tool

>How did it all go so wrong?

What are you talking about? The first one was shit as well.

>I haven't heard any legitimate criticism yet other than you personally didn't find it funny. The audience it was targeted at did.

Children?

>father of mc who walked out while a child comes back out of nowhere, reunites with mc and uses mc for own selfish desires then shit kicks off when the mc finds out the truth
I fucking hate this overused trope. It's 2017 so why can't people come up with a better story? I can easily forgive the turd jokes but holy shit, I knew how the story was going from the very beginning because the twist was that obvious.

It was a good watch.

But I swear some characters were just shouting throughout.

Nebula, Ego and Stallone was the only character that didn't feel forced. (Which for sly was a miracle.)

>Ego, in spite of millions of years of experience with lesser beings and having absolutely nothing to gain from revealing himself as the source of Quill's mother's cancer, chooses to do so at exactly the worst possible moment.

He's on that galactic perspective shit 24/7 that Quill got hooked into. You notice Quill's behavior changed when he was seeing things that way. He was just casually accepting genocide up to that because he could see through the lens of eternity.

I didn't mind the Yondu thing either. The crew of the ship seemed to have a soft spot for Earth's music (cloning it, playing it during a scene or two.) It might have been just an emotional connection with Earth's ways. Who knows?

Or maybe Yondu had no idea what was happening to those kids UNTIL Quill. In fact didn't he say as much?

I've got other problems with the movie (they could have cut at least half of the jokes out and the story beats were predictable to put it lightly) but I don't see those as being too much of a stretch.

Perhaps Yondu was unknowingly drawn to Quill precisely because of his Celestial-ness. Perhaps they all are.

>Children?
You mean the primary audience for all capeshit? Yes. Even the Zack Snyder shit is primarily for kids, funny enough.

>They could've Peter having Neil Young's Pono
>Instead he got a Zune
Ruined a joke

strawpoll.me/13673478

There's now a Marvel-themed casino in Vegas. Not exactly your family vacation kid Mecca.

It was a perfect summer movie to see with friends.

It was pretty good, but since it was Marvel Studios, we have to pretend its really bad.

>jokes weren't fun
>plot is awful
>the emotional moments were forced as fuck
A piece of shit alright, they are getting better with the CGI though

i didn't like that they decided to make ego a fucking celestial

they just keep ruining cosmic marvel further and further. fuck the cinematicverse

man seeing sly doing that angry speech to yondu was great im an old fag and that cameo was perfect. if you didnt like it I can see why but fuck it I loved it.

too many close up facial shots that serve no purpose.

>Owned a Zune
>Jokes abound
>Now some faggot thinks Pono should push Zune even out of its own territory of being a joke
THE PAIN NEVER ENDS

Because it reminded you that comic book movies are for literal children and not le broody epic grimkino like BvS?

>DUDE I WANNA WATCH PEW PEW AND EXPLOSIONS SENTIMENTAL CRAP IS CRAP LMAO

fuck off reddit, this movie was great

...

I watched it yesterday and can't remember laughing at a single joke throughout the film.

>he didn't chortle and clap at this

...
