Developing countries have a high birth rate, but their death rates go down over time because they are exposed to technology and medical procedures that help people live longer. Birth rates also decrease because people get jobs other than farming.
Developed economies have low birth rates and low death rates because our economies allow for advanced healthcare, contraception and an aspirational population that puts success at the top of their priority list, rather than making a family.
Despite this, we all need to recognise that populations of developed countries are growing at a faster rate than developing or undeveloped, purely because of the very low death rate.

Idk if any of those tax policies are actually in effect today (dont parents get tax exemptions for having kids?). But holy fuck it's fascinating that they used education of child-bearing (every highschool gives lectures about having kids) and encouragement of homosexuality to pressure society to not have kids. And it's interesting that they used these concepts as far back as the 60s.
I think the west is really having hard morality problems, but another big reason why people dont have as many kids today is because life is so damn expensive. there is no way you break even every month if you have more than two kids, unless you make over $60,000 a year.

Also, the social measures such as homosexuality/feminism/non-marriage used to reduce birthrate probably affect Europeans/white Americans disproportionately when compared to say muslims, who tend to be more religious.
