UBER's LAUNCH OF SELF DRIVING TAXIS IS THIS MONTH.
The self-driving TAXIS will have a safety crew and engineering crew in the front two seats for testing purposes. What is unique. The public will not be allowed to talk with the two up front humans. Instead they will have to use a touchscreen to communicate directly with the car's software.
Each car is also equipped with a tablet computer in the back seat, designed to tell riders that they’re in an autonomous car and to explain what’s happening. “The goal is to wean us off of having drivers in the car, so we don’t want the public talking to our safety drivers,” [Raffi Krikorian, Uber’s engineering director] says.
Didnt Tesla Motors try something like this, but without people?
Cameron Bell
TALK TO THE TABLET MEATBAG HUMAN COMMUNICATION IS ENDING GET USED TO COMMUNICATING THROUGH AI INTERFACES
Colton Bell
>B-BUT AUTOMATION ISNT 10 YEARS AWAY AT LEAST!!!!
Jackson Morales
Good, this way they can shoot at pedestrians on the street without having to drive when they go on rampages
Owen Moore
1. AI cars only work if there's no human drivers ever. Limited intelligence is by definition unsuited to deal with unpredictable incidents. 2. Why would anyone ever want an AI car in the future? Now you need a mechanic and a software engineer if something ever goes wrong. 3. Why would you want a 2000lb moving piece of metal that can be hacked and remotely controled?

Yeah but the people in the car died because the car crashed into a pole
Christian Young
>The public will not be allowed to talk with the two up front humans. Instead they will have to use a touchscreen to communicate directly with the car's software. Because the point is that it's self-driving. People talking to the safety crew during this testing phase would kind of ruin that.
Jonathan Barnes
This is great news, the sooner we get AI driven cars the better
Christian Sanchez
the safety crew is to prevent the cat from killing you and pedestrians
Juan Morgan
remember the six trillion ais who died from electricity malnutrition
Jaxson Gonzalez
Needs to come sooner. I want to live in the future!
Ryder Cook
Two of them passed me in Pittsburgh today
Jason Anderson
1 and 2 are kind of moot points with how the infrastructure would shift with self driving cars > Think no more owning cars. most people in cities don't already.
3 is the real issue here.

teehee, u sher g0t m3 xddd
Adam Campbell
So few people get this. Other labor revolutions were about increasing productivity. This one is about removing human labor from the equation entirely.
Nolan Scott
No, we won't. My job is putting IT people out of a job. Automating processes by definition means there is less work that needs to be done.
Robert Cruz
As things become more automated you need less of all of those
Ryan Diaz

I hate talking to idiot plebs this is the future we need.
Brayden Anderson
>self learning AI needs software developers and engineers
Aiden Sanders
They would hire significantly more though, because this would become a significantly larger segment of the economy. As you hire engineers, you need more managers in order to ensure operations continue properly. You need more people to work in safety positions, overseeing and refining protocols in these automated machines.
Lincoln Johnson
No one is saying that the sky is falling, just that there is going to be a radical shift in how the world works. Humans can coexist with this stuff, but only if we plan properly.
Thomas Morales
You grossly overestimate the state of computation today, and in the foreseeable future.
Landon Hill

Nigga do you not know what go is?
You just went full retard
James Morales
I'm glad I left that shit hole call. I had worked there for over 6 months, put in about 800 rides, my driver rating was 4.87 when I left. Why did I leave? Because too many people using the service for rides that are like a mile or less away. The vast majority is for short distances.
There is no way you can make money like this, you get a ping to go pick someone up 5 miles away, you get there and the guy is not even outside, you wait for him and his friends to enter the car and then you drive them to the mall and made, im not even kidding here, a grand total of $2.45
I was driving around people for free. IMO this whole ride sharing thing is bullshit, giving people free rides... Sad thing is with this kind of business is that they have a limitless amount of new drivers coming on board, so they can fuck you. Just dont even give them your business.
Bentley James
I guarantee you when automated driving takes over America the government will use it to assassinate people.
Evan Sanders
>we are in a recession and no one is buying my meme services and products >the solution is clearly to automate some more jobs :^)
Tyler Rodriguez
>3. Why would you want a 2000lb moving piece of metal that can be hacked and remotely controled? This is why I'll never buy a modern car. Even the most basic ones that don't advertise the fact they have an on-board computer can be remotely disabled.
Brody Lopez

>tfw college student >no car >just want to buy a 24 pack of beer >beer store is a mile away >too autistic to use uber

Henry Cooper
>there are people on Sup Forums still blue pilled enough that they don't realize capitalism won't survive the upcoming robotics revolution
I dont get how this is an incorrect statement, he is only stating the truth. If robots and driverless cars and ai are going to replace millions of jobs, then you better believe capitalism as we know will not survive. The moment it becomes affordable all these businesses will adopt it. The government will not allow all those people out on the streets, because remember the tentacles run deep to other jobs. It's not just the taxi jobs that will be replaced, anything that requires any amount of movement will be replaced.
Julian Butler
the influx of new and stupid drivers like you is what keeps Uber afloat the thought that they will be replaced with machines "soon" should stop many from even joining anymore
John Flores
WTF
Joshua Cox
The uber is lucky are lax on the regulations they apply to their drivers and cars, if that company had to obey most of the rules like most taxi companies they would go under very soon. It is like the Elon Musk´s company that is a gravy train propped up by the taxpayers money.
Dylan King
>falling for the automated Jew
Ian Lewis
I think you just had a brain shart
Leo Sullivan
See this is the shit im talking about. People using uber to go down the street and buy something. Top reason why I quit and ill say it again, in the end, after taxes, gas, wear and tear, insurance, that $2.45 ride will turn into nothing, cause you gotta remember I had to drive towards you which can be 3 to 6 miles away.
anyways gotta go bye
Carter Lopez
No wonder every other person I meet at uni sounds like an autsit
Brayden Lee
Self-learning AI isn't going to need us.
Thomas Rodriguez
The only concern here is that automated vehicles are pretty vulnerable to malicious intent One of the big steps that nobody is thinking forward to is people stealing automated vehicles or simply destroying them

The truck swerved and crashed into them.
The car did fail to activate breaks to reduce the impact of the crash, I don't know any more details of the crash so I don't know if a human driver would've made a difference or not.

They don't have a 24/7 beer delivery service where you live?

So your only refutation to capitalism collapsing under its own contradictions is a shitty sci-fi film with Matt Damon in it (where I think the pleb end up successfully rebelling in the end anyway)?

One more step closer to having a basic income implemented for everyone. I don't see a downside.
Julian Edwards
I can walk 1 mile. I can't walk 1 mile with a 24 pack of beer. That shit is heavy. Maybe I'll get cans instead.
Jayden Richardson
Driverless cars will need designated shitting seats
i loved that movie especially this whole endless void scene and the ending ofcourse with these "policemen" that talk like psychotherapeut George Lucas redpilled a.f.
>btw Jar Jar (binks)

I live in a weird state. If there is one they'll probably charge bar prices.

>capitalism is the only system they thrive in

inb4 muh perfect form of communism never been tried
Leo Smith
Excellent news. I can't wait for the tidal wave of butthurt for all the losers who are so mentally shit-tier that they drive for a living. We're en route to a world that's totally automated, where we have a Master Race aristocracy of engineers and tech people, and the rest of humanity will be unemployed peasants. We can do whatever we want to them, especially once Silicon Valley libertarians save America from the failed experiment that is socialistic statism. I plan on starting a gladiatorial fighting pit, where poorfags fight to the death for the grand prize of a week's worth of mostly-unspoiled food stuffs.
The age of losers is winding down. Enjoy it while it lasts, poorfags.
Thomas Perez
It's an advertising ploy. """Self""" """"driving"""" ""cars"" are not what the public thinks they are and what the public thinks they are don't actually exist.
