In an older promo Ludo is, apparently, fighting Star on Earth. Unless that's just misleading editing and the two scenes are from different episodes. Also it might be from a future story and on By The Book.

It'd be pretty hard for that to be misleading since Ludo's both clearly on Earth and next to one of Star's beams. Like that'd have to be some serious trickery.
Also I don't think they'll be interacting this early; think he's just gonna realize she has a new wand too and those scenes are from some later episode. New episode's plot seems to mainly involve Glossaryck after all.

Also, this episode established that Ludo can hear the wand talking to him, even though no one else can. But Ludo didn't know about Star having a wand of her own, so if Toffee is in there, he didn't know either, or hid the knowledge from Ludo for whatever reason.
Even though Ludo has gotten more clever, he still isn't a genius, so he might not realize that his wand is a piece of Star's, or that he can cleave them both together.

Don't forget the nice animation, Star and Marco just hanging out and both of them being useful and proactive. Both episodes were 9/10 in my books, even Ponyhead was enjoyable.

We've got the main storyline progressing nicely now with Ludo and Star meeting up again and Ludo getting a new goal. I love the idea that Ludo is genuinely looking to mastery the wand he's been given and not just default to a "defeat Star Butterfly" mentality. I'm hoping the next time the two of them fight we see him focusing on getting the book more than beating Star.
I'm a bit tired of Ludo vs Star. And Daron doesn`t like the high school for make episodes ;_;

Got around to watching them, so what did you guys think of the new episodes?
Goblin Dogs was alright, got to see PonyHead actually be cool with Marco for once, so that was neat to see. Plus BushGirl turned out to be A Cute, new waifus are always great. Sadly she's got a boy friend, a filthy Vegan no less, so that ruins most of the jokes I was gonna make about shipping her.
By the Book was cool, intresting though that Star's spells seem to not work apparently when she didn't really have a problem like that before. Her learning about the dance increases the Sailor Moon/Magical Girl references.
Also, it seems Ludo got the more destructive half of the wand that even seems to talk to him.
Crazy.
The biggest thing though is that PonyHead said Miss Heinous wasn't at Saint O's at the moment. So I'm guessing she's hunting Marco and Star down.
What would she have to go through to get more than one?
I think of the Ludo vs Star as completely new, given it's not just Ludo giving orders to big punching bag goons. Instead he's actually fighting her with magic and some level of strategy with the animals. I would imagine the next time they fight he'll look to utilize them more advantageously, given Marco was seemingly dealing with them, enough so to keep Star focused on Ludo.
But I will admit, I'd like to see some random magical antagonist episodes, those bunny pirates still have yet to turn up and an episode centered around a magic beach could be good fun. I'm sure Daron has numerous crazy ideas for an environment such as that.

The principle of the matter, the guys a bit stubborn for his own good sometimes and it usually comes back to bite him. Star's influence seems to be helping him unwind a bit as time goes on.
I really enjoyed both, I think they were on point in terms of what I was expecting out of season 2. It show just how important having a framework for episodes is as both were well structured, meaning they got a lot out of their 11 minute segments. I also enjoy being thrown into a situation and just seeing it unfold, as was the case in Goblin Dogs. It avoids that commonly unnecessary setup which just wastes a few minutes at the start of the episode.
I also really enjoyed just how genuine the interactions seemed to be between the cast in both episodes, Marco wordlessly understanding that Ponyhead wants to catch up with Star and so trying to get on with this new person he's introduced to. Star too in By the Book, realising how she'd been acting towards Glossaryck was wrong and genuinely trying to make up for her mistake.
Hopefully the episodes can keep up the quality, doubt it'll have much effect on the threads though sadly. Sup Forums As a whole seems a bit slow in recent weeks, not having another big show on DXD to team with Star seems to be the biggest issue in terms of the threads being populated. That and one episode a week not being good for the whole general format. Still, individual threads are usually fine in that instance, that is when there's not a janitor with a grudge out and about.
