has there ever been a successful live action film based on a non-super hero comic series? i know there's stuff like creepshow, but how about like newspaper comic strips or web comics? i know they're pretty simplistic but considering hollywood usually takes creative liberties with most source material, i don't see why they can't expand on these sort of characters.
