He's actually done some animation from years ago, although he had stopped animating for some reasons, probably due to commissions he had many of to do, or that he was busy starting his 2 webcomics at the time.

A lot of his designs, especially for his comics, are pretty samey with slight variations in proportion covered up by surface details. He also seems to have problems drawing characters at different angles and his writing is really bad.

So I'm saying his comics aren't very good.

Not all his girls are thick. Some can be downright twigs, and some others are built.

His comics are really charming, not that much to write home about but it's entertaining.

Has a little too much uniformity to a lot of his characters. Doesn't experiment with body shape enough. Or rather, he seems to have a formula for his characters that tends to rarely vary. Still really charming designs regardless, I like the character design prompts he does every few days, usually makes some neat stuff with that.

i've been trying for 10 years now since i left HS and im nowhere near outside of DA levels of being good at art

Worst advice. user might actually be able to improve if he tried. Regardless of practice, some people just have a better grasp of a skill than others. You just have to play with the cards you're dealt.

You can always mimic the guy until you find a style of your own.

Hell I've been borrowing from artist for years to get at least semi-decent, and it's not like a lot of artist don't do it. Steal like an artist dude, it does wonders.

Are you actually trying or "trying"? You need to draw for like two hours every day for years to be as good as someone like this, as well as draw from a variety of sources and have the right balance of self-criticism to improve without imploding from stress.

i definitely don't think my shit is good, so i don't have that type of artist mindset. i can't even hugbox because my shit sucks that i know people are lying, why would they tell me its any good at all?

trying to loomis and such, but i just don't get it. all i've been doing is basic shit for years trying to improve and i don't think i've ever really learned anything that made me better at it.

Stop listening to /ic/ and all that bullshit. Just draw. You are not at a stage where you will benefit from overanalyzing what you're doing. Learn VERY basic construction from Loomis, which you probably already know by now, then draw from reference pictures of things that look cool or go outside and draw what you see. It doesn't matter if it sucks, you're doing it to get better not to show other people. Once you get to a certain point you'll naturally start thinking about how aspects of drawing connect to each other and THEN you're ready for theoretical knowledge and to start memorizing anatomy and all that stuff /ic/ circlejerks itself to death over.

so learn the basics of the basics of the beginnings of the start of art. like learning step fucking 0 before even starting step 1?
